Cupcake seanIts not about youI found the podcast to be interesting At first then i found the creator to be annoying as he kept and continued to put himself into the situation instead of reporting on topic. I planned on listening to other podcasts of his upon completion until the final episode. If you listen im sure you will figure where what he wanted outweighed the mothers. Its not about you.

red sky ravenLike being thereseason 8 what about that guy ‘ wrong place at right time” who can say what happened to Angel was the right time?? Can’t get enough of DR and company. If I were a family member seeking answers, I would want DR to be my guide. All done with such care and love

GdjjxifHighly, Highly RecommendRandomly came across this podcast and it’s just so good. Not sensationalistic, just well researched storytelling and great interviews.

NetsypieClassVery impressed with this podcast. Quality work and sincere.

NickNameNanooPremiumSo many true crime podcasts should study this series. How it’s edited, how story is structured… it’s crafted with skill and care, the journalist actually uncovers facts through INVESTIGATION which forces action to be taken. Narration is decent enough but it’s smart and empathetic and I really wish there were more producers who had similar standards.

MegmsyCan’t listen to last episode question mark? paywall really?I just got to the end of season nine and realize that the season finale is behind a paywall. I can’t believe that I listened to the entire series and now I have no idea how it ends because the final episode is behind a pay wall. If I would’ve noticed that in the beginning I never would’ve listened to this series. Be warned unless you’re paying you won’t actually be able to know how the story ends, very disappointed.

OldhipgalBraveryThank you to David and his son for all their efforts in trying to find Christine. That takes so much care and commitment.
-
sacto11cHoly scaryThe host, David talks to people in their territory. Most are harmless victims or victim avocets but then there time he goes to the suspects homes for interviews! Listening to this makes me concerned for his safety but don’t want him to stop. 5/5 stars and counting.

Teon77Just crappyTo put a last episode of a series behind a pay wall. Faith lost

MachurryAwesomeSuspenseful keeps you guessing what comes next. Host does amazing work with giving these stories light

reisirooSkilled craftsmanship, legendary investigative journalismConstantly impressed by David's professionalism and undramatic coverage of a fascinating case. Thorough, thought provoking and smart reporting. I'm a fan.
-
hmditeitsgnzxLoveThis is my comfort show. I listen to it over and over. David is kind and thoughtful in telling the stories and allowing the families to tell their side instead of just telling it himself.
-
CbigJGreat podcastI have really enjoyed the in-depth research on these cases. Thanks for your work
-
hagenrocksSeason 1- just why?I'm a true crime junkie and needed a break from the "murder" and switched to "vanished" people. Anywho, forgive me - my grammar is not the best. I love this. I love what you do David. I just discovered your podcast in 2024 in the states, Illinois. I binged the whole season. I couldn't stop. I had to know what happened. Then not only did I binge, I had to hop on goggle to see if there had been updates on Adrian.

Nicfit0720You are inspiringI must say David Ridgen is an amazing human being. The care and commitment you have to others is inspiring. And we love hearing about you as a person!
-
MarklebuttStory tellerI listened to enough to form a strong opinion that a good portion of the boring story telling is fabricated and staged. Also, is this a left leaning political agenda podcast?
-
BschoraS9E2I can’t understand a work Ringel is saying! Why use these shoddy recordings when you can simply READ the story clear and concisely?
-
Anissa horhn.HeartbreakingSad her mom had to wait this long for an answer. If they would’ve searched within the 1st week of her missing the trial could have been different. Hopefully they’ll meet again
-
LoomotyiThank youThe respectable way you are able to provide support to the victims family and friends while telling their stories is of immeasurable importance. Thank you for all you do! keep it up!
-
Parker21Should have been betterSeason 9 is such a compelling story but let down by the host inserting himself. Bro, no one cares that you’re an atheist or about your favorite corny song lyrics. Just tell the story. Jeesh.
-
BeachespeachesCompassionate and compellingDave Ridgen breaks my heart every time. Incredible storytelling. Grateful for this series.

Gimmy_The_GreatOne of my favorites, But paid?Love SKS, Been listening since the beginning. The new season is now behind a pay wall? Love the show but not enough to pay for it.

Angelo-Brooklyn NYTHE BEST EPISODIC TC PODCAST OF ALL TIMENO ONE is better at this genre than David Ridgen. I am a fan of single story episodes on other TC podcast like sword and scale, Criminal, etc. But I definitely prefer the episodic shows where you can get invested in the story. And NO ONE is better than SMS team and David in this genre. I didn’t listen to Season 9 yet but I already know it is going to be excellent. Great work guys

N.Cali GirlNew listener, content good, music/singing painfulI’m only on season 2, and the reporting, delivery and content is fantastic. The music at the end of each episode, especially the painful singing, is enough to cause me to cease continuing this podcast. Hoping this dreadful singing changes on upcoming seasons.
-
ksubsnThe geographical informationI love to learn about new geography so it was educational looking up all the places in YT. Otherwise, just meh. For me his voice is his downfall.
-
jesscleo777DragsI agree with what others have said, he drags it out unnecessarily with boring observations and irrelevant information.
-
willmatic6Incredible.Best true crime podcast out there. Spoiler: not many cases are solved. They’re active cold cases, and David is re-investigating them in an attempt to aid in the families eventually finding closure. The entire ethos of the show is to keep the cases in the public consciousness, the hope being that someday someone will come forward, or something will be unearthed that future investigators will be able to use in case building. The show accomplished this with incredible grace. The rapport he with each family is incredible and he clearly cares deeply about the work. If you’re frustrated by unsolved cases, go watch Law & Order.

Nikky Kelleyputting me to sleepCan’t handle the narrators voice
-
FunKyChick91Really enjoying this podcastI heard about this podcast on another podcast. I’m really enjoying it. I just finished season 5. One thing I really like about it is the rapport that David Ridgen builds with the family members. Especially with Sheryl Sheppard’s mom, Charles Moore’s brother, and Kerrie Brown’s brother. I hope justice will be served in the cases that remain unsolved.

Meowmix6785No one know anythingWhole lot of talking for not a lot of gain. Really should be called “no one knows anything”. Trudged through 5 seasons hoping we’d get clarity on cases but turns out nothing.
-
RaatsyTop 3 favorite true crime of all time!!This is a must listen to if you’re a true crime podcast listener!! I’ve listened to hundreds if not thousands of true crime podcasts. This is a touching story investigated and voiced by David, a true talent! David openly discusses his battle with alcoholism with Trevor, the brother of the victim who is also battling the same demons. Both are humble, articulate and very well spoken!!
-
QueenShe87Not One-Sided, Good InvestigationThe investigation done on this podcast is better than what the police have done in some of the stories!

chr a weeksTerribleI have listened to a lot of true crime podcasts over the years and this one is by far the worst. Every cardinal podcasting sin you can think of, this series commits. 30 minutes of actual true crime stretched out into 10 hours? Check. Hours of unnecessary interviews that lead to nothing? Check. Glacial pacing? Check. Attributions of malice and wrong doing to a new person every episode only to exonerate them the next episode? You got it. Do they actually solve the case? Hah, of course not. What makes this podcast truly terrible though is the narrator, David. To be clear, this is not a podcast about a child abduction. This is a podcast about a man child who is either genuinely seeking self actualization through a 40 year old child abduction cold case, or who is cynically using said tragedy for self aggrandizement. Nothing about this series is journalism; everything is told through David’s perspective and we get to hear every inappropriate, irrelevant anecdote that comes to his mind. David tells us how he felt personally called to solve this case because he grew up in the same town. He frequently uses language invoking destiny and fate to aggrandize insert himself into the story of this child’s abduction. He tells us about his dreams. His DREAMS! Over and over again David bemoans “oh what am I doing trying to solve this 40 year old case!” But nonetheless conveys a strong, conceited sense of purpose that he will finally bring closure to the victims parents. Spoiler alert: he doesn’t. What he succeeds at is using their child’s abduction for his own gain. This podcast is his journey and quite frankly I find it cynical, self indulgent and disgusting.

LRSonderLove it!Been listening since season 1. Thank you, David
-
BAEH008Shines light on important issues!Great show and reporting! So happy someone is taking the time to discuss these cases of missing women.
-
jenw12000Another excellent investigation!David’s heart for these families is heard in each episode. So good.
-
CL-LASeason 8I started Season 8 but had to stop when DR referred to mass graves of indigenous children. There is not one shred of evidence supporting the existence of mass graves. In fact, several sites have been excavated and nothing has been found. It calls into question all of his work. I wonder how much of what he says is actually true. Can’t listen to a show when the creator has no credibility.
-
AndrealeeblackLove!I'm completely addicted. David's reporting and investigative skills make listeners forget it's a podcast. I can visualize everything he's saying.
-
Kelsey546My favorite true crime podcastDavid actually goes through the entire case detail by detail and more often than not, able to find new things and continues his work to truly make a difference in the cases he takes on. He’s always kind and describes the dogs he comes across 10/10 would recommend if you need a good show to binge
-
MarshaxthreeGood storiesLove the show. But please, what is with that awful nails on a chalkboard song.
-
B3asyShow is trashAds are more so
-
Noompa1981Season 1 solve? The show is wonderful and David has a gentle and kind way of dealing with victims’ families. I’m curious if the McNaughton family ever tried submitting their dna to ancestry sites. If their son/brother is still alive and doesn’t realize he was kidnapped, it could be a way to find one another.
-
FishbowlbabeSubjectivityI’ve enjoyed listening to your shows until you decided to dip into abortion. You alienate listeners when you don’t report objectively. Isn’t that how you were trained? No one wants to know what side of politics you’re on. Knowing you support abortions is sad.
-
Garlando79Really well doneI just binged all 8 seasons while I work, I really enjoyed them all. I truly feel for all the families & people affected by these horrible crimes. And I hope this helps get Justice & closure for everyone Involved. I’ve lost family & friends to murder & it never gets easier when someone you love is taken violently. Justice will be dealt in this life or the next. Keep up the great work
-
austenkrillCompellingI’ve enjoyed every season of SKS!
-
KBeav90The pod I recommend to everyoneI absolutely love this podcast and have since the beginning. There is something about David’s voice and tone that is so easy to listen to. He really deep dives into this cases and becomes apart of families and friend groups it seems. I always look forward to another season.
-
Dane KlingamanConsistently stellarDavid Ridgen is integral to true crime. He consistently brings a mix of integrity, unimaginable tenderness, and poetic rumination on life and landscape. I truly don’t know how he’s able to hold all of the grief he delves into and deliver it with respect and freshness each season. David presents each perspective of the family and loved ones with the intelligence they deserve, not the sleaze or sensationalism that’s become rampant in the genre. I’m drawn to true crime when it expands my empathy, and David is a master at doing so. Plus, that accent is legit. Dane Klingaman

StaReBlueToo slowAbout a year ago I wrote a review saying: Good podcast but season 1 feels like it just moves too slow. Will give another season a try but if they all move this slow, probably not for me. Update: I gave it another try with Season 8. Still soooo slow moving. I like long-form journalism but I actually get bored listening to these episodes. Note to host - Not every clip adds value to the story.
-
pistrami62One of my faves!I have been listening to SKS since the beginning & am already looking forward to the next season! For those complaining about having to subscribe - you don’t - you just have to wait for the weekly drop! I love the attention to detail, David’s voice, and how he humanizes the people involved. David truly cares about solving his cases, & it is apparent in his story telling. Well done!
