Narration is fingernails on a chalk board
Trashy Baahhhstonn accent is extremely annoying. The ONLY time it should be used would be if this was possibly a BOSTON story! Instead of trying to narrate to a group outside of her neighborhood in Boston she talks like a effeminate male Boston cop trying to act tough.

    Borderlands or Lady Mafia
Why on earth am I seeing Lady Mafia in my library when I followed Borderlands? Why are people I’m sending the show to seeing Lady Mafia and have no clue why I sent that? Clean it up please!

    Season 8-Lady Mafia
Disgraced attorney Sara J. King is absolute trash. As I’m listening to this season, it appears she faces 30 years in custody for her crimes. Hope she gets the max, but it seems unlikely. The fact King thought it was endearing that she took a joyride in her Dad’s luxury car and then laughed about getting out of the debt she had from opening a credit card at age 14 is repulsive. She has no respect for the law and seems to have zero sense of shame for her crimes. She is a lifelong fraudster who should not be celebrated in any way. My 2 stars are for the narrator. I love her Boston accent.

    Great Research
Sarah is a sad example of the desperate need for attention and the spotlight , by any means: lying, fraud, stealing, risking her life. Hostess got her to be forthcoming on the show. Such a sad existence! On another note, so what she pronounces Sarah differently! Maybe Sarah told her that she likes her name pronounced that way. The show content was interesting, if you like fraud and duplicity stories.

    Sara
Why does the narrator pronounce the name “Sara” like that? 🤔
  • 1socalgal
    Just ok
The hosts butchers so many pronunciations i.e. Zarah for Sara and Jarar for Girard. She story tells like a middle schooler just all over the place and with super corny explanations, except she adds a lot of cursing to sound serious. Haha

    Nuanced and original
Lady Mafia digs so deep into a very complex and questionable world with great nuance while still also grabbing the listener. This isn’t easy to do. Kudos to the team behind this podcast.

    Love
I love this narrator and all of his stories Listen to all of the seasons

    Meh
This is way too swayed towards Sara’s POV- it’s obvious she made some bad decisions and it’s hard to discern what is truth and what’s exaggeration.

Not a good addition to true crime podcasts
With so many entertaining investigative podcasts out there, this one is flat. The writing is little better than a high school creative writing project. The host could use could use some diction coaching, she just chews words. Not engaging enough finish.
  • Nickled N. Dimed
    Poorly told story
It feels like this is a podcast in which the narrator is trying to make a story out of no story. Nothing happens in the first two episodes. Other than Sara being a scammer I’m not really sure why she deserves a multi-episode podcast… also, the narrating is a bit contrived and corny. Was hard to listen to.
  • Nft249
    Good story but…
The total destruction and obliteration of the name Sara by the host is brutal to hear over and over.
  • jwav1
    Hard to listen
Voice of narrator is difficult… hypernasal with lots messy articulation. Good story though.
  • Neuro2
    Completely disorganized
This podcast is one of the worst true crime podcast. I have listened to. It’s like listening to a manic persons brain. The storyline is not clear, there’s no explanation of why an attorney was working at Nordstrom, it’s just all over the place. I felt dizzy after listening to this. You need to have a better plotline set up.

    Lady mafia
Have to respect the hustle! Sara is a super interesting and flawed morally gray character. You can’t believe her but at the same time you want to. People love to root for a man who cheats the system but when it’s a woman all bets are off. Great story!!
  • It’s meeeee?

Ended up bingeing lady mafia. Im not sure why I kept listening but couldn’t stop. Sara’s a train wreck you can’t turn away from.

Binged Lady Mafia in a day. It’s a nail biter. Kinda like uncut gems - a stressful wild ride about someone breaking bad. Wish we’d heard more from Kamran tho.

Season 8 - Sarah is awful
Unfortunately Sarah is such an awful human I could not listen. I found her so immediately unlikable - impossible to go further.

    Night Shift (Columbia Missouri VA)
Season 7; I can’t believe all of the mistakes and denials from all levels of governance and law enforcement when looking into this situation. Does it pay to be a whistleblower? Equal enforcement of the law? Very sad. Excellent investigative reporting.

    Amazing storytelling
I am at Episode 7 and I love the slow buildup to touch key points of the case. Additional bonus is how the son is telling his father and his colleagues’ remarkable courage. It makes me think of my dad.
  • bfromm
    Devil in the Ditch
It feels like the only way this murder is solved in the minds of anyone in this story is ridiculous finger pointing or more ridiculous fingerpointing. These people are lawyers?! These people are police?! My goodness. It’s either the black man, or the adopted kid who, by everyone’s admission, was ostracized by the rest of the family for his entire life. At the end of the day, this police department hasn’t solved a single murder that someone didn’t walk in to the department and directly confess to on their own behalf. The evidence was destroyed, lost, or never collected, and an entire family of people just wrote off a branch over what? A comment at a party? I rolled my eyes so hard during this podcast I think I might need glasses. Presh sounded like a wonderful woman but I think she may have soaked up more than her fair share of brains in this family. Glad to hear that not all of Greenville is as small minded. Hopefully the police department will follow suit but there’s more than enough reasonable doubt of that too, even if it is less than that against Richard.

    Boring
Another podcast that has information that are completely unnecessary and is just dragging this story out to cash in on it more. We get it, you are protective over your dad, but it’s too much. He’s no saint..

    Interesting stories and great narration
I’ve enjoyed each season of this podcast.
  • ciaralin
    Let’s at least be honest
No, a doctor taking or “borrowing” a lethal drug from a pharmacy is it not only slightly more problematic than an overdue library book. I think this is an important story because it’s about a healthcare provider hurting patients. But it’s become clear that the narrator’s interest is not the crime, but in trying to somehow “clear his father’s name”. So you lost me.
  • Gardenia2847
I believe every bit of this.
I worked at the VA for seven years. Everyone was afraid to speak out because they could run in your reputation, retaliate and even possibly alter your records. Our VA was and still is overseen by a very powerful and corrupt congressman. He got one of the top officials off the hook with the DEA. DEA was made to drop charges and she got full retirement. There is so much more. This entity is not for the veterans.
  • BIGWillyyWonka
    It’s ok
Decent at first but it seems more like someone’s personal fight to get their families story acknowledged. Half the story is about his dad

Interesting story but didn’t get past half way episode 1. The vocal fry is too hard to listen too. Makes wanna smack her thru the phone and tell her to speak up and clearly!

I started several of these and then realized you have to pay to finish. Lame. Not good enough to pay for. I will be more diligent in checking that all episodes are free in the next podcast I listen to.

Witnessed — 19 Days was excellent.
Season 1 was also very good. But 19 Days was well told with empathy and sensitivity to the victims.

    Wish this were better
This is an important story, and it’s a shame that the way it’s told ends up feeling more like the journalist giving his dad the chance to air his grievances with the VA rather than an investigation.
  • Vulcan In The Streets
An important story, but the team went too far.
The quality of the story telling and the recordings pulled me in quickly. I enjoyed the story and feel I learned something about systemic issues in local government and institutions. My only concern is in the last 5 minutes. After the main person of interest not only declines to be interviewed, but clearly states he does not want to be contacted ever again, the podcast team decided to “go see where he lives anyway”. This made me uncomfortable. This was stalker-like behavior and it didn’t add anything to the story. In fact, it made me question the entirety of the podcasts’ motives and validity given the podcast team is related to people whose lives were directly and permanently affected.

    Great show, love it!
I love this show it is excellent, can’t do the paid version though, too many shows are now charging and I can’t buy them all or I’ll go broke so I only can listen to the free ones but I definitely listen to the ads too! All around great show though!
  • lol what's wrong with this alb
    Night shift
Easily my favorite season is 7. I live and grew up in Fulton, born in 92 in Boone hospital, yet never heard of this case. There’s a little bias lol. Thanks for bringing awareness to this case, it gave me something to ask family if they heard of , which a lot of theml the little they knew was dude got charged and then dropped. One person I don’t like in this story is Kevin crane. Even tho he sounded reasonable ,One case that shows why he’s shady is the Ryan Ferguson case.
  • Decent enough 12
Night Shift, long drawn out, ad, quick interview, ad
Just lots of filler. Typical podcast series with 4 episodes released then you can wait a month forvyhe next one. Or pay and subscribe. After 4 episodes I’ve learned just the bare bones of the subject. I’ll have to look elsewhere for a more detailed and through storytelling.
