I want to love this podcast but I couldn’t even get through a full episode of the Fyre Festival without being bored to death. The content could be good but the monotone voice just wasn’t doing it for me.

Like so many other have said, the concept and content can be good, but it is brought down by host being your cookie-cutter Reddit personality. He just can’t stop himself from constantly needing signaling his virtue and remind you that he has the upvote-worthy-political opinions. Finding some way to tie nearly every fraud that has ever occurred to a Republican, or a Christian, etc. No matter how much of a reach, or how distant the connection, he will shoehorn it in to take potshots with. It gets tiresome enough to just stop listening. No idea why these types need to constantly bathe in public self-righteousness, but it ruined what could have been a decent podcast

No other podcast like this! Truly amazing! Excellent research done in all its podcasts!

Even for high-profile cases and subjects I have some knowledge of, I rarely if ever come away from an episode without feeling a strong mix of fascination, astonishment, dismay, and (sometimes) dark amusement. The only difficulty is trying to wrap my brain around the foolishness and callous greed at times— but I appreciate ACC for being able to distill these stories so effectively with excellent writing and editing. No word ever feels wasted nor embellished. Thanks for the program, and for documenting these stories.

Great reporting and interesting storytelling. I learned a lot I about several of the scandals A Concerned Citizen covers.

it's hard to stomach these whiners leaving reviews claiming political bias. You're not solving the equation, folks. Obviously, some people like being manipulated and played for fools. If you believe there's some kind of hidden political agenda here, this is not the podcast for you. Your ego cannot withstand the reality that you've been Swindled. Abandon your false idols.

I used to love this podcast but unfortunately he is so against white conservatives and that’s me 😢. He takes any chance to rag on us and throw in his own political views instead of focusing on the people and issues that matter. Just tell the story. Love everybody don’t hate and try to cause division. We are all equal and it’s ok to view things differently. He just hates on anybody that doesn’t believe his views and it’s so sad. Done listening and I stopped being a Patreon member

The host inserts the best dry humor into the episodes and tells the facts as they are. If you think it’s politically biased you should take a look at yourself

Updating my review because of recent reviews I have read. I have been a Valued Listener for at least a year now, maybe two. I choose to support ACC each month because quality takes time. As “time is money”, and the events explored and exposed are not just regurgitations of stories already featured on other podcasts, I am OK paying $5/month for the quality (and the personal editorial of ACC). ALL RACES, MEN AND WOMEN, ARE EXPOSED. ALL RACES AND GENDERS ARE ALSO VICTIMIZED. What should be alarming is the lack of accountability and regard for humanity on display - and these events are happening in our lifetime, our children’s lifetime, and our grandchildren’s lifetime! (Abbreviated original review:)….Making the transition from Ashley and Brit (Crime Junkie), the storytelling besties, to the sobering style of ACC took me a couple of attempts. For me, I realized I needed to be ready and able to listen attentively. ACC’s stylistic narrative invites the listener to get a glimpse into how reckless people and the organizations we should be able to trust get when money is a factor. Phenomenal research is evident in every episode. Thanks ACC - your podcast really is a public service!!

Was one of my favorite pods for a long time but his politics ooze into every episode more and more. I’ll save you the time, it’s always white conservatives fault…

This podcast has some excellent stories that should infuriate all of us because of the degree of incompetence in what happened in them. But the podcaster’s political comments in almost every episode is annoying and uncalled for. Just tell the story, man, and keep politics out of the stories that don’t involve it.

So well researched and written. Each episode has two stories, which makes up for so many episodes being behind a paywall

I finally bit the bullet and subscribed for premium about a month ago almost exactly. Listened to maybe a dozen and a half of the premium episodes as I was caught up on all of the free. Open my app a couple days ago and all the episodes are gone, the unplayed ones I mean. I could’ve been listening to just those alone for a couple of months and we’re talking 3 to 5 a day.. They’re gone I can’t find them. Hopefully someone will reach out. I even checked the website and doublecheck that I was still a subscriber.

Love the content and the narrator so much that I’ve subscribed as a valued listener. I noticed recently, however, that the both the subscriber bonus and the VN4VL episodes have vanished from my queue. What’s up with that?! I hope it’s temporary, as all of it is the extra goodies I’ve decided to pay to hear. Looking forward to the new season!

Best podcast I’ve heard in years. Creator doesn’t waste time chatting about himself or with a co-host. Prelude stories could be stand alone, they are terrific too. Thank you for the education.

After financially supporting this podcast for over 5 years, I don’t appreciate the recent responses I have received asking for support updates. There is no reason to be so rude to customers asking for an estimated timeline of having their purchases restored.

Amazing podcast. The host is a great storyteller. You can tell they put in a lot of work and research to weave stories together. I’ve been looking for a podcast like this for awhile. I’m so glad I found it.

This is my favorite podcast by miles. No annoying banter, no corniness, opinions always on point and spot on, sticks to the facts, and low key hilarious without being over the top and trying too hard. They don’t make them like this too often folks….. if I could give him 50 stars I would

But you have to get the subscription to fully enjoy it. That’s not to say that there aren’t great free episodes, but the best content is the one you pay less than five bucks a month for. I only pay for one other podcast monthly, but out of the 20 podcasts I regularly rotate, this is easily the most entertaining. It’s super dark and mysterious. The host stays hidden and isn’t looking for limelight. His calm voice with the very quiet production is something unmatched in the world of podcasts. I can’t say enough good things about it. I think we all know that the world is shady, but you won’t know the half of it until you listen to this amazing podcast. Love, love, love “Swindled”. Gonna go buy my “Corporate” sweatshirt right now. I ran out of podcasts to listen to at work and tried this one out. I gave it 3 stars because it’s pretty average. Some stories are interesting but some are hard to follow and then there’s others that seemed incomplete. The host seems to lean left and therefore doesn’t have a good sense of humor. I felt that if I were to pay to be a “valued listener’ I would get swindled.

lpve the content. very interesting and informative…. however the host sounds like a bad impersonation of AI, and the liberal crybabying gets old fast. maybe try coping like a grownup?

This used to be an enjoyable show but he lets his politics get in the way of a good story. Cope harder.

I’m obsessed with this podcast and listen to it every night to fall asleep. The voice, dry jokes, and content are all top tier. I find myself trying to listen to other podcasts and stopping because their voices don’t sound the same. Keep being the best!

Great show but the latest episode, about Fen-Phen sounds like AI is narrating. Not sure why. I hope the future episodes have better presenting.

Has steadily grown into my favorite podcast of all time. the Juggalos episode sealed it for me. becoming a concerned citizen with my next spare $5.

My all-time favorite podcast, even turned me into a subscriber and I hate paying for anything. He gets to the point and focuses on the interesting aspects of each story, using real recordings or reading primary sources instead of doing dramatic reenactments or having forced conversation with a co-producer. This isn't a background noise podcast; you need to pay attention to get the full value. It is worth it. Sometimes the editorializing gets to be a bit much, but who wouldn't be bitter after reporting on all this malfeasance?

Great show! meticulously researched and presented. However, all of the news reporters and recordings sound like the same 5-10 people and I’m wondering if we aren’t all getting swindled with voice actors. If so, that’s even cooler that they would be able to pull that off on a show like this.

The host really hates the Black Keyes. I’ve never listened to them, but the host has a real axe to grind with the Black Keyes. It’s a good podcast.
