The writing and stories are beautiful, the sound effects are absolutely amazing, and the narrators voice is music to my ears, I’m happy to have found my new favorite podcast, this is art.

I hardly think creepy pasta is the place to talk about pro-choice messages and the woman’s right to choose. Not all of us believe in that, and it’s just sad and unfortunate. That political issues had to be brought to a podcast that’s for listening to scary stories

Tales are so dark you want to stay up and listen but the narrators voice is so pleasant it’s nice to fall asleep too.

I’ve been listening to him for a long while on YouTube. His work is always so phenomenal. I can’t find a narrator that compares!

My absolute favorite to listen to as I go to sleep. The narrators voice is so nice. Really ups the creep factor of the stories when they’re being read to you in such a relaxing tone and cadence. Really viscerally upsetting stories too. I just love it

What appears to be the primary (male) voice and the secondary (female) voice are both soothing and quite expressive. The way they narrate, switch between character’s POV, or interact with each other/other characters is entertaining. Most stories are detailed with nice audio cues or ambience that makes the atmosphere come to life wonderfully. The addition of extra voices in stories where there are multiple characters interacting also adds more “authenticity” and immersion to the stories being told. With the overall production quality, the intricate stories and their mysteries come to life in vivid and enjoyable listening sessions.

I need more I’ve literally listened to every single one is there another channel with the same narrator I can’t stand anyone else but this guy!

What else can I say .. dark somnium was one of the best before he got adds and then went and added adds into all his old episodes! Come on man obviously just in it for the money reading other people’s stories what else should I expected was a loyal fan for years and years: couldn’t care less if you get paid I’m selfish I don’t need adds when I’m trying to fall asleep….

The audio “jumps” (where the story acts like I’ve rewound or fast forwarded) are extremely frustrating, especially when I lose parts of the story because of it. I’ve discovered that if I don’t use the ff/rewind option it’s a lot better, but even with no “interruption”, it still jumps sometimes. Lost about 3-5min of the end of an episode that was heading for a mic drop final line… that sucked. (The story suddenly jumped back about 3-5 minutes and restated words I had already heard, and then the timeline of the podcast ended right in the middle of a word. But!! The stories are awesome, and Dark Somnium’s reading is fantastic. Worth listening to even with the audio glitches.

But, I’ve listened to ‘Penpal’ 2 times now and I’m ready for a 3rd round. The narration is *chef’skiss*. The story itself, brilliant! It begins by making your skin crawl, then you find yourself getting seriously creeped out. All of a sudden, you start holding your breath in anticipation of what could possibly happen next. When you finally let that breath out, you’re just minutes away from an ending that’s so terrifying, yet heartbreaking at the same time. And then you go back for more!

The penpal episode do yourself a favor and listen.

This guy is absolutely amazing. He’s reading and voice are a great fit for the podcast. I enjoy listening to everything he and his team puts out. I listen to a lot of creepy pastas, but I must say that this is one of the best.

As most are aware, they don’t write these episodes, they’re written by various people across Reddit, usually from r/nosleep. So of course, I want to applaud those writers for their genius. With that being said, this podcast does an amazing job with narration, voice acting, environmental sounds, background music, and more. The creator of this podcast is responsible for all of the music, which he creates himself. This is mind blowing, as these tracks are amazing and really help tell the stories and atmosphere. I’ve listened to plenty of similar podcasts, like the SCP Archives, Nightvale, Within the Wire, and more. Without throwing shade, none of those even pale in comparison to this. This podcast isn’t even scary or horror. It’s just really good stories that have creepy elements, which is good in my opinion. I don’t like podcasts that just try to be scary. I often find them boring. This podcast is different. The stories are engaging, the music and environmental noise helps create this atmosphere of feeling like you’re really there. Not scared, just completely encaptured by the story and feel as though you are the person the story is describing. I will always recommend this podcast.

I only use this app for listening to comedy podcasts, but The Dark Somnium is the only exception. I’d argue even if you weren’t that in to creepy pastas, you’d still love DS because of the audio environment he creates with his voice, music, and sound effects that are all perfectly balanced together to give less of a narration, but more of an experience. He’s really that good.

I found this from their single single episode on Spotify, which in itself is the best I’ve found. Love the sound effects and voice modulation for the creepy voices and whatnot

I ran into this podcast while browsing for a new Creepypasta/scary story podcast and fell in love with it! The narrations are amazing and there’s so much effort put into the sound effects and background ambiance and it makes it super easy to get into the story. I wait excitedly for each new upload.

I am new to this one and I was a bit hesitant Seeing a review about annoying ad placement, but I’m so glad I took the time to try this one out. I to hate the loud and disruptive ads, but I have not heard one single ad in any of the several stories I have listen to so far! I am taking this to mean nothing not only is this podcast maker giving us fantastic high quality stories with zero ads, but they must have read the feedback they got and actually gave enough of a crap about their listeners to adjust their episodes!!!! I’m so impressed by this show so far, I’m so glad I gave it a chance!

I listen to several Horror/creepy podcasts and this one is number one in terms of story selection, narration, and sounds. You won’t find any poorly written cheesy stories here. I recommend this to any fan of the genre. You will not be disappointed.

Hear me out, this podcast “The Dark Somnium” is really good. I listen to this all the time. But the ADS. The ads are terrible. I can barely listen to this with getting slapped in the face by an ad the moment I click on an episode.

I love horror when it’s directed towards people. This podfic has much more than average the number of stories with animal deaths and, since I refuse to listen to that, I end up having to skip a lot of them.

i’m a huge fan of this podcast! it’s my absolute favorite, and these stories are absolutely addicting, both in content, and in presentation. the use of sounds, effects, and ambient music are so well done, and i constantly find myself back here, digging for stories i haven’t heard yet, or relistening to old favorites while i wait for new episodes. i would highly recommend this to any fan of the creepypasta genre, and associated nosleep subreddit!

The repetitive cadence grates a little after a while. It’s like reading a very urgent grocery list on some of the stories.

I love these stories and used to listen at night but recently they’ve really got to me and are super scary, these stories are sure to keep you up at night! Give you that rush of horror and paranoia, great podcast 5 stars all the way!!!

This is an otherwise dependably good podcast, but the way the ad is placed like 5 sec after the story begins is areal turn off.

Wouldn’t be that bad if the story wasn’t trying to create a feeling of urgency right off the bat. If this is outta your hands, show this to whomever, I’m just gonna read your stuff on Reddit instead and not bother following the podcast.

Anyway I love the content this guy puts out I listen to these stories all the time like when waiting to get picked up or even when gaming alone his voice is great for these stories and the team and help he has makes them even better so thank you so much for putting out this content!

Anybody who’s telling him to do his thing differently you should rethink that if you don’t like how he does things then just move on idk why people feel like they have that entitlement

I’m a big fan of your narration, you don’t do that weird upward inflection when you end each spoken word, you don’t extend your vowels or consonants beyond what is Normal to do. I appreciate that your recordings don’t sound like a Microsoft Sam voice panel made out of some random actual human. But man. Do you think you could possibly cool it with the sound effects? Your recent stories have been very challenging to listen to: you often play your sound effects BEFORE you narrate the actions the sound effects are meant to emphasise. Rather than being immersive, you doing this actually creates a very disjointed and distracting recording. Please play the sound effects AFTER you describe the action. Please.

Hiya Dark! This is in my top 3 creepypasta podcasts! (the other two being Creepscast and MrCreepypasta) Your voice is so perfect for narrations, and the music is on point to give a disturbing ambience. The quality control of the stories are also superb, every story never fails to send a shiver up my spine and I don’t scare easy. Very well done 💜
