I found this podcast from a search looking for horror podcasts to listen to before bed. When I started listening I would play it before bed to fall asleep to but after a while I found it hard to fall asleep while listening because the podcast is so good that I actually wanted to hear all the stories. Now I only listen when I’m wide awake to listen to the awesome work the host Shelby does. This is easily one of my favorite podcast and I look forward to new episodes every week. I highly recommend it!

While she seems to prefer Victorian stories, they’re just not for me. The rest is good but the in between chat feels a little soap boxey at times. I’m looking for an escape, I know what’s wrong with the world. Note: I’m saying this as a Moderate/Liberal

If there’s a way that this presenter could take herself more seriously, I don’t know it.

I started listening to this show for the guided nightmares and they seem to be less and less. I still love the show and I listen every week but I wish you did the GN more. I heard you say one time that they are a lot harder to write…that is probably true but I promise you they are SOOOOO AWESOME!!!

This is suppose to put us to sleep but right when Im dozing off BAM this loud advertisement rips me awake. In addition, I have to agree with another reviewer that said the vocal fry is a little much. However, if you do something with the ads and music choice, it’s a decent podcast. Remember, you’re trying to put us to sleep?

Your voice is truly mesmerizing!

I tried to listen after looking at the great reviews but I don’t like this at all. The quality of her voice is very nice but I am not really pulled in by the story because her affectation and slight vocal fry is incredibly distracting to me. I assume this is intentional and probably supposed to be invoking an ASMR response, hence the name of the podcast but, the content needs to be delivered better. A nice voice only takes you so far when it’s a one note delivery and I really wanted a better storyteller. I’d be happier with her tapping on stuff or playing with someone’s hair in the back of a classroom.

I just found your podcast like a couple weeks ago and I so enjoy listening to your rambles and listening to you tell these scary stories. Especially when I’m at work working at night. You keep me on edge and jumping while working!!! Please don’t change any of your podcast. From the stories to your recipes and your rambles… I’m here for your whole podcast!!!!

My husband told me about this podcast and I am SO glad he did! The stories are always sooooo good, and Shelby’s voice is THE best! PLEASE do not stop the rambles! I NEED to hear about your baking!!!

I’m listening through 2018…my favorite episode has to be 18. I was surprised to hear in a later episode that people did not like it. Great stories and soothing voice…can’t wait to see what 2019-2024 have in store.

I love this show! I understand that there may be some changes behind the scenes, life and what not. But I won’t pretend that I’m not ecstatic that there is a brand new, normal episode. I would never give this show less than 5 stars. Yay! Love you Shelby!

I love SYTS and have been listening for four years now! It’s the reason I got into horror and it also inspired me to write stories of my own. I don’t listen to it to help me sleep because I love listening to the stories and it probably wouldn’t put me to sleep considering the ads in between stories. Shelby does an incredible job with the voice acting and sound effects. It’s such a treat when she shares her original stories. Highly recommend for horror fans and writers!

I am particularly fond of the episodes that you father sleep too and the sound effects with the house voice talking smoothly in the background. Excellent stories. I would like episodes a little more to fall asleep to it without the bit of chatter in the beginning and episodes end.

Just started listening to this podcast so I’m only 26 episodes in. Just listened to Quietus episode 25 and it actually brought tears to my eyes. One very talented lady!!! Her voice is relaxing and she is an amazing story teller. Would be a great voice on audio books!!

The stories are good and the story telling is good. If it was left at that, I’d rate it a 5. Problem comes in at the end of each episode when she decides to ramble on for way too long about her life. I listen for the stories and could not care less about this person. Please create another podcast of your ramblings. They have nothing to do with scary story telling.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for several months now, and I’m just blown away that one person can create an incredible story with all the different characters and voices! Raw Talent Indeed! I love her to pieces, and I look forward to all her new stuff that’s yet to come!

Love this podcast. Never been into podcast and wanted something that would satisfy my horror craves. Luckily came across this and fell in love. My very first podcast and been listening for years. Always enjoying myself when I go back and listen to the other episodes. Would definitely recommend and would rate it a solid 10 stars if I could

I love your podcast

I absolutely love this podcast! I love Gothic horror, as well as thriller and suspense, but don’t handle anything with gore very well, so I appreciate that I can hop around and find episodes suited to me based on the descriptions and trigger warnings. I’ve also become a little obsessed with the “guided nightmares” - they actually give me nostalgia for the second-person “choose your own adventure” stories I remember reading as a kid in the 80s and 90s! (However, in this case, you can’t really choose what happens, in the most delightful scary way.)

Voice is soothing and stories can be creepy. Definitely a good listen if you like falling asleep to something

My last review was not posted because I mentioned the person cannot leave politics out of scary stories. The title says it is scary stories to sleep but the advertising segments are in the stupidest placements for someone who just wants to listen to good stories at night. Ads don’t bother me but the placement indicates this person has no clue. The stories are mostly good except when storyteller ads in her own woke ideology. Why cannot people just tell stories instead of getting political? She has a nice voice. Your agenda should be to tell a good story. Let’s see if this one gets posted.

This may be one of the best horror podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The rendition of “Oh Captain, My Captain” at the end of the episode titled “Uncanny Package” gave me chills and all of the Dark Reddit stories are amazing!!

As someone who loves podcasts and loves horror, Shelby and this show have been on my radar for literally years. But, funnily enough, it was hearing Shelby talk about Cronos on Knight Light that finally got me to check out Scare You To Sleep. Y’all. I’m blown away. Shelby, your talent is immense. The writing. The narrating. The voice acting. The last two weekends, I’ve been binging the podcast and I’m absolutely hooked. I’m so glad there is so much for me to catch up on.

Just started listening over the past few days after Jon and Creepy put you on. Really great Job, just listened to “The Smile” and that was really well done!

Very good show love the stories and I also think that it is better than creepy currently, although old creepy a few years ago was better. Either way, great show and it always keeps me entertained. (Also the guy who complained about the add is not even worth looking at)

I miss the old style of episodes. Getting too gruesome to listen to.

Note to Listeners: Shelby Scott gives the absolute best reading of The Yellow Wallpaper. I’ve listened to many others and there is no comparison. The story is an all time classic and one of the best short stories ever written. Ms. Scott nails it perfectly. Pace. Tone. Voice. A complete mastery of the story and of the language. Well done!! I am so stoked to find this in the past week … but please put ads at the beginning because I seriously listen to it to fall asleep… over and over again. Such great sleep until the ad in the middle, ugh, wakes me back up. That said I love it and it should be a 4.9.
