ephetersonLove this weekly AI deep-dive!"Last Week in AI" is my go-to for staying on top of the latest in artificial intelligence. Hosts Andrey Kurenkov and Jeremie Harris have a knack for making even the most complex AI topics digestible and engaging. Whether they're breaking down cutting-edge research or diving into the ethical implications of AI, the podcast keeps me both informed and entertained. The YouTube channel is a nice compliment. Adding some visual elements, like displaying the headlines they're discussing, could really elevate the experience. As part of my balanced AI news diet—alongside "This Day in AI" and "AI for Humans"—this podcast is a five-star must. And Jeremie, if you're reading, how about showing some more love to moms on the show? They deserve it! Written with ChatGPT

GroovetasticGreat showLove the show and I’m a long-time listener and fan. I find your analysis very valuable as a professional speaker on AI and tune in whenever I can. I can’t say I’m a big fan of the “next story” lady you’ve started adding in edit. If you want to signpost a story change or cover a hard edit maybe a soft tone of some kind? Better, invite some real female voices in AI as guest speakers to the show once in a while. Keep up the great work!

vcuramsfan09Great resource in a quickly changing worldI’ve only listened to a handful of these, and they may be a little technical for some people (depending on the topic), but it’s amazing that the source and timestamp are posted in the description for each. I personally love the tech talk, but don’t always have the time. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to stay on top of AI changes. Keep up the great work!

CarolinamicCarolinaMicI have been listening for about 3 months and i must say that this is a top notch show. In debt coverage on all the newest news and understandable analysis to boot. Keep up the great work.

CorkyPuttPuttGreat content, good hosts, horrendous musicI’ve really enjoyed the show for a while now, the breadth and depth of the coverage work really well for me as a product manager. But I’m leaving this review tonight because I’ve just had it with the generated music on the intro and the outro. It’s musically uninteresting, the summaries of what is in the show are unnecessary, it does nothing at all for your branding because you change the style every week, and it would be so easy to just leave it out.

No pain-NoPain!Fantastic way to stay up to date in AIAs a computer hardware designer using AI to accelerate my design process I have been a consistent listener for the last two years. Always insightful and interesting it allows me to stay up to date without spending huge amounts of time reviewing all the literature. As an aside there is another podcast the was called “ Last Week in AI Now” and now seems to also be called “Last Week in AI”. Nowhere near as good. If I use Siri to listen about half the time it brings up the wrong one. This is obviously a rip off and if there is anything you could do, I’d do it.

Witty MattersGreat, but…Truly excellent show thank you very much for all your effort. Two suggestions. One, please do the timely text article edition on your website because if anyone wants to follow the links, it needs to be done immediately while listening to the show and your text article on your website very often lag munch behind. Two, please do more research and projects. This is the most interesting thing.

Jude in DCWhat a great find!Funny story, my wife (a CPA) and I just listened to your podcast for 22 hours (broken up into 2 days) while driving out and back to Indiana for Thanksgiving (past episodes I missed). I was actually a bit saddened when the drive was over when we got back home. You two really are perfectly matched and make the show entertaining as well as informative. Keep up the great work!

NewInTexasReally good broad perspectiveExcellent podcast on the latest news. I’m in the industry side and have used ML for a long time in the non-IT sector (industrial and manufacturing). I’ve actually read papers that I first heard from here in this podcast. Doomerism is not my perspective but still really good knowing what are the new developments there. Maybe a quick mention on how erring on the side of caution can lead to negative outcomes? Kind of analogous to greenpeace and anti gmo groups opposing golden rice and that may have caused an additional 250,000 blind kids from vitamin A deficiency. Should we make the doomers pay into a liability fund just in case they prevented faster solving of existing problems? Obviously also thinking of the opposite possible doomsday case (if you think that’s a greater than 1% possibility).

ParentWatchThe Indispensable AI PodcastI’m a tech CEO at an AI startup. The AI landscape is evolving so quickly that staying updated is essential - your approach can become obsolete, and roadblocks can vanish overnight with better tools. Your show has been indispensable for keeping up, and you don’t miss much at all. 1 request and 1 helpful note on AI image generators. REQUEST: Please keep us updated on a running basis on how Google’s and Meta’s LLMs stack up against OpenAI and Anthropic. LLMs are the backbone of the economic value in applications built on generative AI. You correctly point out how unreliable the benchmark tests are vs practice, and you do a great job focusing on the latter. You haven’t compared Gemini to GPT-4o, o1-preview, or Claude 3.5 in a while, so I assume it’s not competitive yet. I keep half expecting Google to take over, confused why Gemini currently is still so poor (in our testing). I’m counting on you to flag when they and Meta become meaningfully comparable to OpenAI and Anthropic. HELPFUL NOTE ON AI IMAGE GENERATORS: I want to leave a helpful note because you’re having trouble comparing AI image generator models. Jeremy admits not knowing (dude, you’re an epistemic rockstar!) if the tools are even distinguishable at this point, suspecting they’re already commoditized. Practically there’s huge differentiation. Here are the differentiators you’re missing, and would be helpful to hear you report on: 1. PROMPT ADHERENCE: Most models struggle to generate exactly what the text describes. 2. CHARACTER CONSISTENCY: Maintaining the same face/details (e.g., scars, tattoos) across images is nearly unworkably poor. 3. MULTIPLE CHARACTERS: Generating distinct characters in the same image is very difficult with only two; near impossible with 3 or more. 4. GENERATIVE EDITORS / AKA ERROR CORRECTION TOOLS: Ultimately these errors are irreducible, so generative editing tools become key for practical application at scale. Editing tools exist (e.g., Stability, Adobe, Flux Fill Pro) but remain clunky with all the same #1-3 issues but worse. Most of these tools right now are like working with a mercurial savant - produces breathtaking art, but almost incapable of following instructions let alone detailed ones. Hope this helps you guys distinguish when you report on AI image generation tools.

benbrennerMust listen for AI newsBig thanks to Jeremie and Andrey for all their work putting on this show. I really appreciate breakdown of all the news of tools, models, scholarship, commercial releases, policy, and more. The conversations help put in context the news which ads so much more value than the news itself. Thank you! I agree with other listeners that a discord community would be really helpful.

athekunalSharing about helpful things and skills to learn as an aspiring AI engineerHi guys Thanks for the podcast, I always look forward to this every week. I have an argument for Meta open-source strategy is good for US than China. (Reference: your discussion on Chinese government using llama models for military). I think open-source springs up many players in the industry and everyone can build on top of them with full control. Hence, this will certainly help US more as it levels the playing field and more players can enter the market. Let me know what do you think Thanks

mkv4xGreat content, awful introThe hosts and podcast are fantastic. Very informative and they do a great job of covering many different aspects of the AI landscape. The worst part? Truly terrible AI generated songs for the intro of each episode. The music and lyrics are also terrible and corny, and it’s not even a good way to receive information if it is actually supposed to communicate something to us. I have to immediately skip forward several minutes every episode.
-
gruss gottSuper informativeLong time listener, first time reviewer. Love this show for the comprehensive review of recent announcements, just the right amount of depth with great insights from the hosts.

Greg from MemphisComprehensive and ApproachableThis is must listening for me every week. I’m an immigration lawyer and a founder of a company making AI products for the legal profession and it’s important for me to stay up everything happening in the AI space, particularly as it relates to LLMs and the state of the market. This podcast has been invaluable. I usually listen to it on one of my daily bike rides and end up having to pull over to send myself notes to review later after hearing something interesting and/or important. Andrey and Jeremie are a good team. Funny and obviously very knowledgeable, but also able to explain the stories they cover in a way that is understandable to non-tech folks like myself. I tell people about this podcast all the time.

FrodrigmAmazing show keep the good workNice to have you back Jeremy and congrats on your newborn daughter. I am a senior tech and finance executive and I listen to your podcast every week; it is a perfect combination of technical info with a blend of great financial and business perspectives on the AI topic which I greatly appreciate; hey I even like the geopolitical stuff (I know many listeners don’t 😎). Thanks for being there for us every week!!

KzealandIf you are trying to keep up with the world of Artificial Intelligence, this podcast is for you. This podcast is one of the best for keeping up with what is going on with AI. I like the consistency of the format and the insights that are shared. Jeremy is great at going a little deeper in his explanations. I look forward to hearing it each week. Keep up the great work.

Star D 111It's sort of This and That.I'm not a big podcast listener and this show is one of the few I listen to regularlly. I'm anex-techie from the era of PC hardware, sofware, and network march to standardize. I can see some similiarities and it "almost" makes me want to jump back in. I enjoy the broad range of topics and loved the AI existential chat. I've also refered the podcast and passed it on the the techies I know. It's a perfect blend of opinions, facts, tech, broad strokes, and real world. Thank you for guiding us throgh the unfolding of AI.

Extant PensasMy Weekly AddictionThis podcast is my weekly addiction – I can’t get enough! It’s the only show I genuinely miss when a new episode isn’t ready by Monday. I check my feed every day, eagerly waiting for the latest drop. To the reviewers suggesting changes like "do more of this and less of that," I say let them cover it all! This is the ultimate AI digest for anyone who’s technically inclined and wants comprehensive coverage of the field. Thank you both for your time and effort in putting this together, even when it’s challenging. Just know there’s a dedicated fan who considers this the most essential podcast in his entire feed. Keep up the amazing work!
-
NerdPlanetAwesome showNo idea how you get bad reviews on anything covered in this show. Best one around. Blends deep technical concepts and the latest developments with grounding explanations. Thanks for this.
-
Andrew0x12Love it, but does not release consistentlyI love this show and can’t wait for the next episodes, but they come out very inconsistently. Please someone hire an editor.

BusyBee3The Best AI DigestKeep up the good work covering everything from technical papers to geo-politics and security. All of this is essential to understanding the world of AI as it is unfolding. I know many of those listening appreciate the depth and breadth of topics covered. You guys are smart, funny and so well informed — it’s very enjoyable to listen and learn. Thanks!
-
WeightlessRebuildOutstanding AI gemYou guys continue to do an amazing job discussing important AI developments. Having subject matter experts deliver this level of depth and breadth is a real treat. The deep dives into technical papers is a great way to build familiarity with the rapid advances in AI research. Keep discussing all of the categories, even policy, for a well-balanced AI diet.
-
AtcNickelGreat showI really enjoy the show. They cover all sorts of topics on AI, though Jeremie seems a bit too preoccupied with single-handedly preventing an AI apocalypse. My only gripe? Every episode, without fail, Andrei announces “onto the lightning round,” only to dive into a segment that’s just as detailed as the rest.
-
DrSquickGreat show with deep detail on AIReally great show that goes into in-depth technical detail far beyond what main-stream media gives. I especially love the deep dives that Jeremy gives that help give more context when they are reviewing recent AI publications. PS - I appreciate the geo-political content. Some other reviewers have said that they don’t, but I think knowing what policies different countries are implementing with regards to AI and what outcome you think those policies might produce is useful.
-
SV0123Amazing! Please more geopolitics, AI and China!!Amazing content from Jeremie and Andrei about technical advancements in AI and their impacts to society! The real icing on the cake for me though is the discussion on geopolitics, hardware, and China in particular. I feel Jeremie has a unique take on this - and we often don’t see this key perspective covered, while most of us do read technical papers, often the broader societal implications are missing. Also love Andreis contributions on exhaustively understanding the literature and his interests in art and video and content creation brings a nice viewpoint. I hope to see more such awesome content, and congrats in advance on the baby Jeremie :) From another dad- taking care of a baby is hard work but extremely rewarding as you are focused on this one basic task - (unless you bring an AI robot into the mix ;))
-
Ryno010010Absolutely Mesmerizing & AIlluminatingThis podcast strikes the perfect balance of practical education, technical deep dive, and humor, making it both useful and productive. Please do stick with geopolitics; it should absolutely continue to be a staple. I’m seriously amazed by how much you both know. It does comes off as genius. Do you sit around reading papers all day every day? Keep at it!
-
Lherron3Needs less doom, more research analysisHalf of every episode now is how we need more AI regulation, more risk mitigation, more focus on safety. Feels like classic fear mongering applied to AI. Really miss the research overviews/analysis. Also tired of all the SB1047 cheerleading.
-
lightSpeed226Best AI podcast!I really enjoy this podcast. Jeremey, keep on explaining ai architecture and papers! This is one of the few podcasts that actually explains the “nitty-gritty” details of the software and hardware in AI. I personally would prefer less geopolitical stuff (us+china) but overall this is a great podcast

NGC 2207Super herosYou guys are my heroes. I've spent a lot of time listening to different podcasts in an effort to stay on top of AI news. After months of jumping around, I settled on this and the Super Data Science podcast (before they were sponsors). I've since stopped listening to SDS for lack of time, and now this is all I listen to and all I feel I need to stay on top of AI news. Does Jeremy occasionally dive down a rabbit hole of technical jargon that many of us don't understand? Maybe once in a blue moon. But he’s also a genius and hilarious (you both are). The podcast is fun, easy to listen to, and super informative. Thanks for all you do. I imagine it takes a lot of effort to sift through and summarize the week’s AI news. Know that it is appreciated. You guys rock!
-
Blasting_FondaExcellent balanced podcastInformative, dense with informative news & analysis, and highly entertaining with the Goldilocks ‘just right’ amount of doom. :)

D321PAI Commercial ProductsAlways enjoy listening to you both! Great content, wondering if you can also touch on AI products and how these models play into it. Recent kick starter: Plaud is gaining traction and make you ask the question, do you jump in with their partnership with open ai or wait out till Claude catches up? Thanks keep up the great content!

The Human FinGratitudeamid this uncertan moment in history, each week they deliver two hours of news, with a degre of enthusiasom, levety and off the cuff insight emblomatic of a lifetime of expertice. thank you Jeremy and Andre for creating one of the richest AI knoloage flows in my life

Read "Republic, Lost"Don’t hold back on the AI safety talk!!!!I hugely appreciate all that you two do to bring awareness to AI safety issues. Personally, I don’t want to die in an apocalypse anytime soon. By bringing awareness to risks, you increase the chances that those risks will be addressed in time.
-
NewzenAIPlease add Audible versionHey guys, love your show. I have two places to listen to your podcast. One is Apple and one is Audible. I’d love it if you added your podcast to audible - not sure how hard that is.
-
jingarocksAudio qualityOh boy. It’s reasonable content but for a couple of super smart guys I think you could up level the audio quality of the podcast. Several incidents: echo, static, inconsistent sound (speaker sounds far away, then later closer to mic). This was almost exclusively on the Jeremie side.

RawTurkeyImpressive consistencyI know of no better round up for AI news and research. Full as a tick by the end of the show. But you should let Jeremy know you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. Maybe he has some points but overall Leopold’s 165 page thesis is a hot mess. He's the type that thinks the sun comes up just to hear him crow. You Can’t Make A Silk Purse Out Of A Sow’s Ear You Can’t Make A Silk Purse Out Of A Sow’s Ear You Can’t Make A Silk Purse Out Of A Sow’s Ear

Lynx SkywalkerGreat weekly review showGreat show but need to get rid of the safety grift co host. Nobody wants to listen to his ridiculous safety takes and angles.

M.LarsDon’t change your format!!!Last Week in Ai is fantastic! You and Jeremy have struck a unique balance between covering Ai news weekly and diving more deeply than other Ai podcasts do. You provide information not sensationalist fluff. Please encourage Jeremy to continue his deeper dive reactions to the nuts and bolts of emerging developments. Please don’t switch to a once a day format. That is much too often. The weekly release is much more useful. If you become a daily podcast you will run out of things to discuss and burn yourself out. Also I’d say that if you want to get sponsors that need not kill your creative control or current format. Your present model is what sets Last Week in Ai apart. Thank you for all your hard work!

Lain_7Good overview of AI hypeThe podcasters are knowledgeable, and do a decent job covering the latest AI news. The podcast website is great, with links to the news and research items they cover. Even though the podcasts are long (there’s a lot happening!), they’re worthwhile, and the podcast info includes timing info so you can find things that interested you (or skip things that might not). My only complaint is that the podcasters are a bit credulous. It would be refreshing if they occasionally looked at what critics like Gary Marcus or the folks at DAIR have to say.
