BrendanAdkinsNew fan, happy to see such a deep archiveWhat an amazing feeling to stumble over a still-active podcast with so many episodes to go back through at one’s leisure! I know nothing about video game audio, but I like vintage games, and I’m enjoying the experience of picking things up and learning from context. Really appreciate the thoughtful tone and easy rapport between the hosts and their guests.

BedrothThe Most Exhaustive VGM Podcast I've FoundIf you want a deep dive into the world of VGM, look no further than Pixelated Audio. The scope is far-reaching in almost every way - genre, console, era - and the format of the show also features deep dives, interviews, surveys, and recordings of live seminars and Q&A sessions with composers and other podcasters. Well worth a listen for any VGM fan.
-
WickedsephirothPremium podcast perfectionExemplary production including deep dives on games, composers, sound chips, companies, consoles, even interviews with Japanese composers! Very fun and informative, great personalities and even better music!

Tatsujin OuVGM for LifePixelated Audio quickly became my favorite VGM podcast after discovering it on vgmrips.net. I knew when I saw the sites banner with Kyo and Iori at the top that I was gonna love these guys and indeed I do. They go above and beyond in their research of the material, often going into technical detail about the various chip sets that produce the sounds we know and love. The fact that they frequently have legendary composers on the show (Takushi Hiyamuta, Toshiaki Sakoda, Hiroyuki Iwatsuki, to name a few) is just so friggin' cool. I mean these guys are my heroes. As a fan of VGM (why wouldn't you be?) you owe it to yourself to listen to these guys and discover some new music. James and Brian, keep it up guys! Your work is most definitely appreciated! Favorite discovery from PA: Uchuu no Kishi Tekkaman Blade

KannonOfTheWestOne of my Favorite VGM PodcastsI love the interviews with musicians who made the videogame music. My favorite interview is definitely from the Cuphead episode.
-
zetastrikeFantastic PodcastI never would have heard all of this great music without you guys. Keep up all the good work!

NORMNORMALONESHands Down, Best VGM PodcastNowhere else on Itunes is there a more comprehensive and detailed look at game music than on Pixelated Audio. This podcast has uncovered secrets of Japanese composers that no publication, podcast, or TV show has revealed while also bringing some of the dopest game tunes on the internet. As well, the hosts are completely down to Earth and share a geniune enjoyment of their finidngs along with the listener. Simply put: If you enjoy game music, you NEED to subscribe to this podcast...Hands down.

WarrenOAwesome! These guys really care about game music! Fantastic show with a wide variety of styles.

Le DoinelPossibly the best VGM podcast around.I love the Legacy Music Hour (and, to a lesser extent, the more nostalgia-focused VGMpire), but this is probably the best VGM podcast. There's a perfect balance between talk and music, and the hosts don't force awkward humor into the mix; they play it pretty straight, and do their research. And they have good (and varied) taste in music! In all: very good stuff.

TravezRipleySo full of discovery and fun.I came across this podcast while searching in the genre for retro gaming. Let me tell you, the dialogue on here is great, the history behind the audio, composers and development that is gaming music. I've learned and gained so much insight into something I looked over for so long, even while working in industry. I've been going back to vgmrips.org and re-loved games I grew up with all over again. Thank you guys for doing this, keep it going. I love it.

QuarterSwedeHigh quality excellent video game soundtrack podcastMade it to the top of my musical podcast list in short time. These guys produce a high quality show where game excellent soundtracks are showcased, dissected, and discussed. I love that they give the interesting histories of companies, composers, and games. They often have the composers on to give their unique insight into why they wrote what they did. Absolute top notch podcast even if you don't love video game soundtracks and if you do you can't find a highly quality cast. Do yourself a favor and listen to the Buffers Evolution episode. What a sleeper of a game on a great little known system with a stellar soundtrack! If that doesn't get you hooked nothing will.

DragonflypoisonWhat a great Podcast!I've been listening to the podcast for some time now and I can't thank you guys enough for the great work your doing and the nostalgia you're getting me back to. I've been marathon-ing the all the episodes until i caught up with you guys. My favourite episodes must be the Ghost in the Shell, Golden Axe and Grim Fandango. So Awesome!! Keep it up guys and I hope you can do an episode on the Megaten series. -A loyal listener from Morocco :D

HolyxionGreat Music, Great Games, Great HostsThis podcast is so good! These guys know their stuff, and have great musical taste in my opinion as well. The interstitial segments are nearly perfectly paced with a combination of personality, information about the games, and technical knowledge about the music itself, all while keeping it moving and breaking down the songs into their constituent parts in a way that's both interesting and a joy to listen to. Really hope it continues to grow and get bigger.

Adol45Wonderful Podcast to listen to for old school gamers.I've been occasionally listening to this podcast, but it recently took my interest and finally gave it a more thorough listen. It's sometimes hard to find fans who love more than just the mainstream game music out there. I couldn't believe these guys did a music review of Madou King Granzort (A game I literally bought weeks ago) or got to interview Chris Huesbeck. If you want a more nuanced, worldly l view of video game music, yet are just as passionate as any hardcore fan, give them a listen.

DarkGothicFaytVGM Loves Unite!I found this podcast after looking to see if there was any podcast out there that specifically talked about game music so when i search this is the first one that came up. Immediately i subscribed I knew it was gonna be awesome, and to be honest the name Pixelated Audio and the Artwork for their podcast is what drew me in. They were barely at double digits episodes when i came into this awesomeness and since then every single episode to date has been amazing and their music choices are so rad. from X-men Arcade to Chu Chu Rocket Bryan & James cover any genre, any system, any game, because they all have one thing in common, awesome music! Showing that all systems and consoles are capable of awesome sounds, like how everyone liked to rag on Genesis for its sound chip, me included, this guys have changed my mind and shown me the ways of the Genesis sound chip. Never did I think I would find other people who like video game music as much as I did, and low and behold here they are!

Gabe SwarrIf you love video game musicIf you love video game music, especially retrogaming, you’ll love this show. I’ve learning so much about the music I’ve always heard and loved growing up. These guys have great taste and do a lot of really research. I highly recommend it for anyone who loves chip tunes or game music.

Norms suttonPC-98? Saturn? Amiga? YES PLEASE.Gee whiz, this show is the bees' knees! They play a combination of music you will not hear anywhere else. SMS tracks? Check. DS? You betcha. PC-88, Dreamcast, Virtual Boy, Commodore 64, Vectrex, and NES? Good golly gosh yes. They've also improved their vocal presence as they've become more comfortable recording. I also love that they play the tracks as the composers intended--no artificial stereo on NES tracks or added reverb here. Give it a listen. You'll find a lot of stuff you loved as a kid, and a bunch of new music you've never heard before. Top Notch! -Nathan AKA UtopiaNemo

J. GangstaA good listen for VGM fansThe hosts clearly know their stuff about music/composition and obscure video game history/appreciation. If you like VGM and don't care about the history lessons, you can head to their site to see when each song starts. Great for when you need something to tap your feet to.

FAR_MANIAFrom Instagram with loveI first found out about PA from their activity on Instagram. I gave them a shot and had an awesome backlog of episodes to choose from. Some of my favorites of theirs are the episodes on Golden Axe, Batman: Joker's Jukebox, Halloween Beats, and my personal favorite for all selfish reasons, X-Men: Welcome to LISTEN! an episode about the X-Men arcade game. They care about their fans, they drop extensive knowledge, and select only the highest quality tunes. Please follow them in all social media. This is coming from a fan. -@p2retro

Not in your kitchenGreat, under appreciated podcastThe format is easy to listen to. If you doubt any of their passion or drive, please visit their website. They go above and beyond cramming each episode with information or personal drawings. Their music selection is also less obvious than final fantasy and Zelda, which is refreshing. Please keep it up!
-
ClassicMWKGreat Podcast!I really love this podcast! I learn so much info on the games and composers who wrote the music. I also really enjoy the selection of music they choose to discuss. I 100% recommend this podcast for fans of video games and music.

XombieMikeGreat StuffLove it. I'm a long time fan of PixelTunes Radio, which does this exact kind of show. Now I get even more pixels in my ears! The more the better!
-
JadedrakeriderAmazing retrospective of video game musicLove every episode of this podcast (especially the Utopia episode). They take an in depth look at the music of what is generally thought of as an visual medium.

ruiner9One of the best VGM podcasts around!I discovered these guys purely by chance about 6 ago, as I have my own VGM podcast too. I haven't missed an episode since then! Bryan and James are easy to listen to, passionate about the subject, and have excellent taste in music. The only drawback about Pixelated Audio is that sometimes they do excellent show topics and features before I have a chance to do them on my show! I'd recommend PA to anyone interested in finding out more about popular VGM and some obscure gems that you might not have heard of.

CarmeloR90Fantastic audio from my childhoodGrew up in the 90s surrounded by games from my older brothers and many of the tunes have been lingering in my head since. Big time gamer as well but this podcast really is great. Awesome hosts and great info. I feel like I'm in the room with them playing some NES. Listened to all the shows so far (a few multiple times) so keep up the great work. Highly recommended if you're into retro gaming and music.
-
Jlc_1992Very coolLove the retro music! My show (XP Earned) uses a more modern (but not better) version of this style music for it's intro. This is the stuff that informed modern electronic music. Well hosted.
-
andynickYes!!!! Two new friends!!!!!Aah. great discussions, great music, and two guys who instantly will be hanging out with me during long work days, lawn-mowing sessions, and long drives. Maybe a little Bromantic, but hey, I'm getting nostalgic. I love the enthusiasm and the commentary. 5 stars!

Tellino_Aa really great game music podcastsomeone had mentioned this show and i had about an hour to kill so decided to try it out. i was pretty impressed to be honest. was expecting poor/amateur quality but this is anything but that. big fan of legacy music hour too but this is very focused and well organized. its like if retronauts did game music. anyways, finished about 6 episodes now so figured i should write something. recommended.
-
SwenduBest VGM podcastGreat format to the show. I really love how you dive into the games history, graphics, composer, and gameplay. Very well rounded. Good mix of not so well known games spanning multiple consoles. Keep em coming I love discovering new retro games!
-

GamercomposerA Gem in PodcastingWhen I first heard about this podcast, I was curious to see what the structure and content was like. After the first listen I was hooked. Bryan and James deliver excellent quality material and really dig into the game soundtrack archives. They play anything from the abstract to the forgotten to the most modern tunes video game music history has given us. Thus, reviving nostalgia to creating new gaming curiosity experiences. This is the podcast I have been waiting for!
-
Gabe AskewLove the showThese guys find some off the beaten path soundtracks and research the background behind them. Really cool.
-
rayguy16VGM Podcast with Good InfoI love how these guys play a lot of the games before each podcast, and give a lot of info not only about the composers but also the gameplay and visuals. This makes for a very well-rounded experience. I also like the topics they choose -- a nice variety of well-loved games and games from the back shelf.
-
TheStoufferEnjoyable and InformativeWhat really makes this show stand out from other video game music podcasts it the amount of information and the way it is presented. Instead of a pile of personal anecdotes, the hosts provide a good bit of history on each game, the music, and the composers. The high quality recording and lighthearted tone keeps the show from being stale, and their selection of games/music covers a broader range than the mainstream Mario/Zelda/Final Fantasy. Good work, guys. Looking forward to even more interesting music and games to discover.

Nox ManingTrueThe most figured podcast ever!!
-
ModuleFXThe show has a good strong startingI’ve seen a lot of podcasts die out. For the first 3 shows I’ve listened to, seems very good and well organized. Seems like since they’ve launched its also been pretty consistent with new shows. Would like to see this continue but I’ve said that before and it usually doesn’t pan out. Hopefully this will be different? Anyways, keep it up.
