Why would anyone make a career out of turning high school students into perfect-stats-featuring robots?

I am a high school student, and am constantly considering my college options, Always trying to figure out the great mystery of higher education :/ Doing research on the subject, I stumbled across this absolutely AMAZING podcast! Once more, thank you for the tips and information. Also, would you please consider doing more episodes ( if you haven’t already) regarding dorms, housing, and roommates???

It’s quite a tough balance to strike within this industry! Also, the *immediately* applicable tips and razor-sharp insights these two consistently deliver make this my favorite podcast to recommend to my colleagues and families I work with!

I’m an Independent Educational Consultant, emphasis on the independent. It can get lonely without any co-workers to compare notes with. Gretchen and Megan have been helping me with my private practice through this podcast for years now, keeping me informed on current trends and changes. I especially love that their conversations always align with the topics that are relevant seasonally. (ie aligning with the college applications cycle).

I am a freshman, and while this is a little early to start college prep, I want to be a veterinarian so thats kinda what im listening to this for. Its so helpful, and I have walked around Stetson University, DeLand. I will be doing dual enrollment in two years, and the program has scholarships to Stetson and UCF. I am really hoping I’ll get a scholarship. Could you do an episode about scholarships? Thank you, this is a great podcast

I’ve learned so much from Megan and Gretchen in the last year or so that I’ve been listening. Often wish I had sought a podcast like this out sooner, my oldest will be heading to college this fall (accepted at all eight schools she applied to - thanks in part to test optional policies this year but also many things we learned from this podcast and one other). My youngest is a freshman in high school. I’ll be even better equipped to help him seek out meaningful opportunities, take appropriate coursework and prepare for standardized tests. Definitely worth your time to listen to old and new episodes.

it hadn’t occurred to me that students who excel in math have an advantage taking the SAT (vs the ACT) ... and I’m a test prep creator!

Megan and Gretchen have a terrific podcast that helps students prepare for college, and helps educators be more effective. I am a parent of a high school student, and I have been listening to the show for several months. I sent Gretchen and Megan an email suggesting that they cover college career services platforms and they invited me to join one of their episodes to discuss my ideas. It was a terrific experience - and shows how willing they are to engage with their audience! I definitely encourage other parents, students and educators to listen and engage with these two wise and impressive women!

The College Prep Podcast is a go-to for anyone who has a student in high school and/or going to college as well as anyone who works with teens. Both Gretchen and Megan share deep expertise in supporting students academically as well as through the college decision and application process. Their guests are insightful and bring a wealth of knowledge to the show as well. Love it!

Gretchen and Megan break down big ideas in easy-to-understand and entertaining ways. I loved being a guest on The College Prep Podcast because it gave me a chance to talk about perfectionism in a fun and relaxed, but still in-depth, way. These two bring a wealth of professional and personal experience with teens figuring out all aspects of getting ready for college, including struggling with perfectionism. This podcast is a great resource!

High school and college are completely different worlds, which is why this podcast is so important. The parents and students who listen to this podcast will undoubtedly navigate the transition to college much smoother than those who don't. Two thumbs up!

As an engineer, I always look at the cost/benefit ratio of everything and what amazes me is that someone like Megan Dorsey could offer up fantastic, valuable information like this and all in an easy to use format that's free ... just amazing! Cudos Megan, you ROCK!!!

I've been following Gretchen's excellent work for many years since we were Masters of Education students together. She has a unique ability to connect with young people, honor their perspectives and struggles, and give authentic and insightful input to help students feel empowered and engaged. After learning about and listening to this podcast, I couldn't recommend it strongly enough to students - and parents and educators working with youth - who want important tips to help students achieve their goals for higher education while maintaining their intrinsic motivation and passions.

Incredibly practical and useful for parents of middle school and high school students. I love the approach of "teaching how to fish" and the valuable lessons not just for school, but throughout life.

I serendipitously ran into your podcast and it couldn't have been better timing! My 11th grade daughter is right in the thick of looking at different colleges and trying to figure it all out. We both love how easily your podcast works for both of our very different sets of questions and concerns. Thank you!

She worked with my 11th grader, 9th grader, and 6th grader. Each had his or her own set of academic challenges, not in terms of intellectual ability but in terms of organization and strategy. All of them benefitted terrifically. Not only did their current performance improve, but they have now learned to think about the process of "doing" school. They have learned to look at their own behavior in a factual, rational, and non-judgmental way. Such a gift she gave them. All children should have the chance to work with this kind of academic coach.

These two are obviously experienced and their firsthand insight as teachers and coaches gives students and parents a leg up. (And, I'm sure teachers are grateful for the guidance as well.) They combine firsthand anecdotes with sound research and a broader perspective. It's a great combination of advice and evidence. This was more helpful than a generic Kaplan checklist. Looking forward to more.
