Love this show! Vish has the best in-depth artist conversations. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be and independent artist, just listen to a few episodes of this show. Great conversations that are interesting whether you know the band or not.. Vish has great taste and only interviews artists he’s actually interested in. He does his homework, and is adept at getting folks to open up. And he’s hilarious. Great back catalogue as well.

Always great. I like that Vish talks about himself. I even like that it may be sometimes uncomfortable.Turn on anything else to get boring interviews. He obviously loves this or he wouldn't be doing it. Give Vish some of your money. You will want more of these.

As the Mary Timony episode demonstrates, Vish’s wonderful show never disappoints! Keep up the great work!

I found Vish from a search a few years ago on Ian Mackaye, found the episode with Ian and Steve Albini. I’ve stayed ever since. He’s interviewed many interesting, but what I would call “challenging” artists and made each of them sound easy and natural all while just being himself.

Vish and I seem to have very similar taste, that’s why it’s hard for me to write this review. I have listened to dozens of episodes and am still appalled at the hosts poor interviewing skills. Vish if you are reading this you need to get your act together. Artists are not here to interview you! Vish constantly makes interviews so awkward by bringing up unrelated things about himself. I genuinely want this to be constructive because the guests are incredible, but I’m starting to doubt that Vish has any self awareness.

I agree with some other reviewers - great guests, but the interviews need improvement. They could be so good if Vish would just pull it back a bit. Stop talking about yourself so much. Stop saying every thought that comes in your mind. Stop telling us who your famous friends are. Stop stepping on your guests’ answers and even your own questions. Just ask questions and let people talk! I appreciate this podcast and am hopeful it can get better.

Wonderfully interesting podcast. The host has immense knowledge and a great sense of humor.

While you might be enticed to listen due to the long list of quality guests, be forewarned that Vish (the host) likes to talk about himself. It sounds like he rationalizes the show as “a conversation,” but topics are often brought to a standstill while Vish jams in multiple personal anecdotes that are tangential to the topic. If you find Vish interesting, there’s a lot here for you. If you are interested in hearing from one of his guests, you’ll have to wait around for them to get their turn.

Fantastic lineup of guests but some of these conversations, like the one with Ira of Yo La Tengo, are so awkward you can feel the tension over the airwaves. The conversation was mostly a one-sided rant by Vish about various concerns that bothered him. The funniest part was when he brought up children’s entertainers in the context of longevity which even Vish seemed to quickly understand was irrelevant at best, insulting at worst. In general I would like to hear more of the guests speaking about their music and less of the host’s myriad and largely irrelevant stories, rants, and otherwise.

Great show, great guests overall wonderful singular conversations. Sincerely. That said, Vish, just in case you read these: for the love of khrist please stop spending the first twenty odd minutes of nearly every interview pummeling people with a conversation about the state of the world that nobody wants to have. It’s very rarely insightful, I can hear people’s malaise about it as well as their discomfort and while i don’t think it’s destroying your relationships it throws off balance a number of your interviews as far as I can tell and it makes it hard to be a consistent listener. Spend that twenty minutes talking about the people you have on it’s why they’re there. Beyond that I do love the show. There really aren’t enough shows/ podcasts doing what you’re doing and we appreciate it.

Vish has a way about his interviews he is extremely clear and punctuated. He Has the Guests I like and asks the right questions. Always a treat and I know where to get pizza in Guelph.

Vish is such a great host and has cool guests and awesome conversations. Artists from any music genre, comedy writers and performers, what else?! Keeps getting better.

The great moments of this podcast are wonderful, but there are are just as many medicore episodes. Never bad though, and very listenable. The documentary/special episodes are 10/10 great.

The interviewer is kinda rough. Comes across as pretty condescending to his guests.

If you're even remotely interested in music, look into this podcast. Vish Khanna is a friendly, engaging interviewer and his guests are a joy to listen to. Can't recommend it enough.

I’ve particularly enjoyed the musical acts Vish has covered, and interviewed. It’s difficult to find a capable host willing to shine the light on the artists that are heard on Creative Kontrol. Dom NY

TOP NOTCH PODCAST !! It's like FreshAir for Indie Bands. I listen to every show even if I don't know the artist. 9 times out of 10 I'm familiar with the artist but I always listen and learn something cool I didn't know, have a chuckle or two, and more than half the time I end up checking the music out live or buy the records. And I don't even live in this mystical place in Canada he calls 'Gwelf'. I live in Portland. GREAT SHOW!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

This podcast seems to be the be all end all of interviews with indie/underground artists. Mostly musicians, some writers, dancers,etc. All are fascinating. What a treat to have this podcast!

Great interview with Malkmus. Awesome to hear your son singing Pavement! My 15 year old daughter also listens to pavement. She likes Carrot Rope and Major Leagues. I try to get her into Gold Soundz, Trigger Cut, and Frontwards, but I guess those cuts are too deep. Keep up the great work. I hope Malk gets to hear you guys singning that was pretty cool.

Normally I hate remote interviews, but this is a really entertaining podcast by someone who seems to know a lot about his guests.

Very insightful interviewer! Definitely does his homework and asks interesting and original questions that his guests probably aren't used to. Highly recommend this!

If you love great music and the stories behind it you will love this show! Vish, unlike lots of other interviewers, knows his music , does his research and produces great interviews.
