dtt202020Informative and funnyRecommend to anyone that wants to learn more about UK history.

AnnabkrrJokes & History 🥳This is by far the best historical podcast, or any other pod I listen to. Nothing better than Graham leading Ali (and myself) down a surprising journey that’s wonderful.
-
2 dogs on couchLove Rex FactorExcellent podcast, appreciate Graham’s hard work and Ali’s superb humor, I frequently laugh out loud at Ali’s wit
-
AngelasPOVFunny historyThis is a great podcast on the kings and queens of England, of Scots, and the consorts of England. I’m a huge history nerd and this is very informative (Graham) and irreverent humor (Aly). It’s my go to for a long commute, cleaning the kitchen, and drifting off asleep. Go Dunston! Edgar was robbed, but I do like Edward II.
-
Marlena729Favorite history podcastThis is my favorite history podcast as you get as much correct information in a condensed time, the hosts are very engaging and they get to talking about there subjects right at the start. Maybe French monarchs next? lol
-
Angela In Big DSharp-witted LearningI LOVE this podcast. It’s so well put together. The way the information is pieced together stimulates compare/contrast critical thinking skills, which helps commit details to memory. Listeners are introduced to a plethora of historical figures and the information is so well-researched. I appreciate that various historical perspectives are considered, rather than one point of view. Ali and Graham’s chemistry is so fun, you will want to be friends with them too!

amy799802My favorite podcast!!I am now a Patron but I have to leave a review so that hopefully everyone can discover the wonder that is Rex Factor! I’ve listened to pretty much every episode twice as I excitedly wait for the new ones. My life is now divided into B.R.F. (Before Rex Factor) times and A.R.F. times - and I can barely remember life before 😁😁
-
Robyn in FloridaLove love love this podcast!Discovered you two back in March 2023 and haven’t stopped listening since! A great blend of facts, humor, thought provoking commentary and the pleasure of hearing the greatest chemistry on air! I’m a Tudor period fanatic but you guys have me listening to and learning about so much more! Love from sunny South Florida, USA!
-
JohnmarcusequentialWho has the Rex Factor?Clearly these two guys. Podcast is pure fire.
-
guggutvjufSO GOODListen to this if you like monarchys, excellent podcast.

cinderelochkanumber 1 fan !This show brings me so much joy. If only I’d been witness to historical discussions like this in school - perhaps my life would have turned out very differently career wise. They make history come alive. The dynamic is particularly unique. We’ve got one who’s the distinguished historian and Ali who sort of serves as the stand in for us audience/listeners who may not operate within this realm on the daily. Such a killer pairing. Feels like old friends talking everytime I tune in!
-
BMann1280Summas RexFantastic Podcast! I’m addicted. As I’m listening from the beginning I feel like I know the future listening from the reign of Charles 3. I was very excited that the correct king was discovered through their vigorous process. Long live Summas Rex Peter O’Toole!!!!
-
ansleyhoppingThis is everythingI heard of this podcast through Dr. Emma Southon on “history is sexy” and love it. For the first 6 episodes I listened to, I swore Graham’s name was Grand Duke and he was just running with a theme. Ali’s inputs are actually the best and I have more than once had to stop and giggle. Thanks for all your hard work.
-
newmanmarsGreat landmark podcastThis podcast is not only a treasure, but the inspiration for several other History podcasts. It is a wonderful resource. My only complaint is that I have to wait between episodes.
-
NYC KateOnce you start, you won’t stopSome historical podcasts can be quite dry, but not this one. Fun, but still packed with information and context. I loved the Isabella of France episode.
-
jcranmer756Love it!I’m so far behind. Like still three years behind and I am so excited because I will be able to continue binge listening for months! Perfect combination of history and comedy. Love it!
-
Gigi1968Awesome PodcastI came very late to the game, but I'm so happy I found you. I listen to your podcasts over and over again. I've also purchased some books on the different queens. Being from the US, we know very little about the history of England especially when it comes to the battles. The story about the White Ship disaster was one of my favorite. The thought of "what if..." is intriguing.
-
Liz GrecoReviewI am soooo happy I found your podcast! I’m a little late and have a lot to catch up on! I’m an American who is obsessed with English history, monarchs and castles! You really make it entertaining and I listen to you everyday on my walks! Thank you and I’m glad I found you!
-
ownrhtodowgwvrBritish banter and storytelling at its bestReally glad I found this podcast- these two bounce off each other so well and make each episode an enjoyable and informative listen. Queens/women in history are a current obsession of mine and I’m happy adding this to my podcast rotation. It’s interesting hearing stories of some figures im a bit familiar with presented by men, especially the more obscure figures who have really only grabbed female attention by other creators. I have yet to listen to any of the male consort episodes but I am cheered by their fairness and empathy towards the figures they cover.
-
145JudGreat way to learn historyEnjoying listening to these two guys chat about rulers, life, and especially Ali’s rambling and laughter. Catching up having come to the podcast years after it started has been fun seeing how things have changed and stayed the same Love their interaction
-
Hpf3Great Heritage Entertainment and EducationGraham carries the show, Ali is ok for a sidekick but he really needs to step up, its been years and he still acts as if its the first show...Laugh and joke but Contribute more than being silly.
-
Jen iverFavorite podcast!I really cannot over emphasize how much I love this podcast!!!
-
Msuper1692Thoroughly entertainingReally fun and educational. Can’t recommend highly enough!
-
jade-kapHistory with a dose of funGraham does the research while Ali does the fun. Great show to learn from and to enjoy.
-
Cousin JannieBest BingeRex Factor has been the soundtrack to my life for a couple of months. I started with episode 1, and laughed my way through history until I ran out of episodes. Now, I have to wait for new episodes, and it stinks. I need some Rex Factor in my life. I’ll probably have to listen to the episodes again to get my fix. I highly recommend this podcast to even the fringe history lover.
-
MSully82I love this podcastI love listening to this podcast! I recently stumbled upon it and I’ve been binging old episodes. As a self professed Anglophile from the states, I’m obsessed!
-
itwasntmesir45Love this!I just discovered this podcast after searching/sampling dozens of Tudor themed shows with had no luck until I heard Rex Factor! I love love the content, personalities and cheeky banter! This is the best history podcast you will find by far! Listen now!!
-
anna bolinaFriendly, funny, brilliantGraham and Ali almost feel like friends at this point. I have an extremely isolating job and listening to them makes me feel less alone. My only complaint is the lack of transparency about the upload schedule; this is the main reason I’ve refrained from becoming a Privy Councilor. I can’t justify sending money when the uploads are so random and sparse. Seriously though - are y’all ever going to upload? Or at least be more transparent about your upload schedule? Please?
-
Your SprignessTwo thumbs up!I’ve been a listener for years and look forward to each new episode. Many thanks to Graham and Ali for making me a real asset at a pub quiz and for the bazillions of hours of entertainment! I’m so glad I’ve joined the Privy Council for all the extra bits.
-
tfailsLong Live the Kings! The highlight of any day is listening to Rex Factor! I finally made it through the English monarchs and am thrilled there is more…
-
Lynne YulishLove this podcast!I just started a new teaching job and have to travel 35 minutes each way so I have been binging. This podcast has made me laugh, groan, and learn. I love the banter between Graham and Ali and have learned so much. I am in the middle of the second series and now follow along with Facebook to see the playing cards. Since I studied in Wales for one semester in college (I’m from Cleveland, Ohio), I feel very Welsh 🤪 and would love to hear more about Wales. Keep up the great work!
-
Lace of SpadesFun Show!Refreshingly entertaining and educational.

3littlemissiesSo I guess I *don’t* hate historyThanks guys, for showing me how much history I missed without making me feel like an idiot. If someone told me at 15 that I’d listen obsessively to history podcasts in my future, I’d have thought they were crazy. You are funny, informative, and have inspired me to dig in to eras that I thought were just plain boring. I’ve never been so happy to be so wrong. Love the chemistry between you two - Ali, you sound like the charming kid who showed up to class a minute late, without pencil or paper, ever grateful for Graham’s hours of preparation and extra supplies. Love you both. Cheers!
-
Pmk65vaA late startJust started this podcast a few months back. Amazing how much has happened in the intervening years. Just finished Elizabeth II today (9/11/21). They talked about the troops planning to leave Afghanistan in 2014. In 2021, they finally have. And Elizabeth is still Queen. Also, I’ve been reading Pauline Maier’s American Scripture. Interesting to see the influences of English monarchy and parliamentary reform influencing the principles in the American Declaration of Independence. I highly recommend. An interesting and fun listen.
-
bf2727Best history podcastWhenever i try a new history podcast i always hope they are like rex factor but sadly they never are. Graham and Ali have uncovered some secret history podcast sauce or maybe they are just intelligent, enjoyable, and damned hilarious in their everyday life as well. Listen to this podcast👍👍👍👍👍👍
-
Kliabfhej jdjekahhaA wonderfully fun and historical podcastAs a Classics major, I’m always looking for new ways to develop my knowledge of history. This podcast is accurate, funny and enjoyable, especially the new consort season! I’m not sure what you will cover next, but I’ll be listening!
-
i_wanna_hold_your_glansWhat a showFound through the recommended tab Apple Podcasts, from History of Byzantium. I almost wasn’t hooked by it due to the poor sound quality for the first couple episodes, but after listening to a more recent episode and hearing how the format had matured and production quality improved made me decide to stick with it. In the end I’m so glad I did. I’m now on my second listen through, and still get so much entertainment out of the show.
-
lvm037Happy 10 years! My brother in law filled me in on this podcast a few months ago and I have been binging during lockdown. Great mix of facts and humor.
-
RoooooeeeeeeMarquessa RoeI love your guys’ content and congrats on 10 years

fred the germanGreat showI’m happy that Rexfactor is starting up again
-
Cubbers 22Perfect mix of hilarious and educationalLove this podcast! Very informative and entertaining! Checked out the show on the recommendation of the Totalus Rankium guys and I wasn’t disappointed. Highly recommend!
-
MaverickMitscheHappy Anniversary (belated)I just wanted to hop on and wish you guys an amazing 10 year anniversary. I got turned onto you guys at the beginning of last year via The Saga Thing. I think you guys are absolutely hilarious and have provided me with more useless and random facts than I could ever hope for, as well as being the inspiration for so many other podcast that I love. I know I’m late to the game, but I thought you’d guys appreciate that the craziest place I’ve listened is in the DMZ in Korea, for a political science class.
-
TudorHistoryNerdGreat!I’ve been writing a book on important women in history and it’s been so difficult to find information on those before the Plantagenet times
-
StuC1234567890AlmostA great podcast. You can see their growth over time as podcasters and narrators. The only thing I would suggest to new listeners is to skip the first ~10 episodes, even though the subjects are very interesting. The audio is truly horrible for those first few episodes. The sound levels are off, and there is sometimes this weird high pitched tone in the background that really hurts (especially if wearing headphones). If they get remastered, will be a real treat!
-
Randy & Joan 4-everBrings history to life!I recently started at the beginning and it is fascinating. So far the episodes have been interesting and entertaining. I’m enjoying this window to the past. I didn’t think I liked history but this podcast has changed that. If only my history teachers in school had been half as entertaining!
-
StamfordNewbyGreat comedy take on historyThis podcast is a little light on introspective history, but it is funny! Great supplement for history podcast listeners who've been through Queens of England, the BHP, and History of England and just want to hang out with the Rex Factor guys for a bit.
-
Youmomma0987654321135789AwesomeGreat podcast, very entertaining
-
dammomma3Catching upI’m listening to the Scottish kings/queens from Feb 2016. As soon as I’m caught up to June 2020 I will pledge as a privy council member, if that’s still a thing and assuming I have not been offended by anything you’ve said! I love this podcast.
-
JuanitaLouOverdue praise for the best pod out thereBeen a fan for years and ashamed I haven't reviewed yet. These guys are consistently hilarious. I've enjoyed each series and the live pub recorded battles were a fun bonus. And for my fellow 'mericans you'll be amazed at how much you don't know about England or "the left of France".
-
CanonBeyReedEven if you don’t like history, you’ll like this.Do I like translating old texts, yes. Do I feel cool searching for things in latin and using the f for s, absolutely. I find those things fun, which makes it very difficult to listen to drab podcasts. Nothing drab in Rex Factor. These guys don’t just ramble out names, places and dates, they connect the dots, show the relationships and give you the story. Which is not easy especially for this time period. Not only that but it comes off as effortless. Which says to me they have put in a lot of work to make it look easy. I wish them the best of things, and that some ba-jillionaire who loves history and doesn’t want to interfere, becomes a sugar daddy/mama level patron - cheers
