Indian Raga Music - for iPod/iPhone

9

The music of North India is mesmerising, and shrouded in tradition and culture. There, raga is the art of life - it is the music of the mind. The tracks in this album focus on three instruments - the tabla, the alap and the voice - all central to the existence of Raga. Each instrument is broken down into the individual sounds that make up the intricate compositions. Performances on all three complete this introduction to the fascinating sound of Raga. This material is drawn from The Open University course AA317, Words and music.

    Kind of a mess
The information given is good, I really liked the teachers. But I had a terrible time viewing or listening to it. First I got two sections of the introduction playing over and over. Then I got the lesson sections but half of them are PDF transcripts. So getting rid of the transcripst I ended up with the few lessons and performances, each repeated three times. Kind of a mess. If you have the patience, you can learn a little bit.

    I love Indian music!
This video is where I first really became familiar with the tabla. The man in the video has lots of rhythm. It was very informational. Thank you iTunes.
