    Extremely Fun Show, easy listen
I really enjoy Listening to this podcast as I mow and do renovations around the house. Very fun facts.

    Very well done
Thoughtfully written and no overlap from other podcasts. His subject matter is carefully curated and very often hilarious and always interesting.

When I first started listening to this podcast I wasn’t too impressed but I kept listening and it really grew on me and I have come to enjoy it. In defense of SS, the low rating reviewers need to remember that this podcast is a light hearted affair. The Debbie downers should quit taking themselves so seriously.

    Voice
I couldn’t take more than 2 minutes of listening to the voice, audio quality, and frequent trailing off of pronouncing words to the end of their letters.

    Amazing show
This podcast uncovers old and fascinating stories from the past that are almost always totally unknown. The host’s deep interest in his subject matter really shine through. This show is like no other and definitely worth a listen. It might become your favorite!

    Ehhh
Podcast is okay. But, dude sounds like he’s gritting his teeth.

    Misguided humor
I’ve always enjoyed useless info for its folksy, easy going charm. But I recoiled at Silverman laughing at a women assaulted by a depraved man who smeared cake frosting onto her body with his hands. That is sickening! Would he be laughing if such trauma happened to his wife or mother? I think not! Although I enjoy the 1940s, ‘50s radio nostalgia, we should abandon the repressive abusive ways of treating women from those decades!

    Cadence of voice
In an apparent effort to sound mysterious and suspenseful, the speaker ends up overdoing it. This gives the wonderful story a sing-song sound which is distracting. Maybe vary the voice tone and use the dramatic “cliffhanger” sentence for the ending.

    Delightful
This podcast takes you back to a different time in the world when the news could actually be informative and often a little funny and interesting instead of all the current doom and gloom we’re experiencing. The podcaster has a great voice and does tons of research to find just the right stories. You’ll love it.

not too distant past done in a nice way
Good niche of odds and ends from within the last century; done without resorting to the now obligatory swearing and cussing; and importantly, with no shrill desperate outrage that is currently trendy. A little suggestion, however: the host needs to project his voice a lot more (or get a better recording system). Overall, well done 👍.

    I liked the dubious advice.
    Please make more!😁

    Great Entertainment!
Love this podcast. Short interesting and fun. Trivia is always interesting. Sometimes it spurs the imagination and gets creative juices flowing. Ignore the the critics whp apparently are just attention seekers and are free to move on! I really enjoy your show!!!!

    Is it just me?
I love this show, but I keep getting only ads from this one person, for various things and it is repetitive and annoying, but on a whole, I love this show.

    Researched very well
You can tell that allot of research work goes into these episodes. Also it is very nicely done, very smooth, neat and tidy. Great for passing time.

    Very Entertaining
Just a cool podcast to listen to. Steve does his homework and translates it into interesting and humorus stories. And, it's family friendly.

How did I miss this great podcast?!
Discovered UI a couple months ago and it's a favorite. I'm catching up on back episodes by mixing them into my playlist. Clearly a labor of love, with research and humor mixed in! Thank you, Mr Silverman!

    Sick to Death of Jordan!!
This is a really cool show. I enjoyed listening to the show. It has a lot of really useful and interesting information. Unfortunately the constant commercials about this other show, some Jordan show, were so annoying that I just couldn’t continue listening. It seemed like there were at least three of these - I don’t even know what to call them - hypes? for every episode. The person narrating the infomercials for that Jordan show has such a annoying voice. It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard. I had to delete from my library. Just can't do it.

    Love it!
    Great storyteller! Thank you!

    My new favorite podcast!
I wish I had Steve as my science teacher in high school! He sounds like a really fun guy to hang with and nerd out over some obscure topic. Basically that is what it feels like I am doing when I listen; hanging out with Steve as he regales me with outlandish, amusing stories and anecdotes from the past. I know he works really hard to keep us listeners entertained while working as a teacher, so thank you!
  • PS_pinstripe
Could be good with some homework
It’s hard for me to comprehend how a high school English teacher has never seen Sunset Boulevard. Amazing. Also, a teacher, this teacher, approves of eschewing great films both old and new because black and white films evidently bore some low attention span folks. Sunset Boulevard, don’t waste your time. Schindler’s List, yawn, where’s the color? Good lord! Sunset Boulevard is a great film for those with an interest in classic Hollywood. It’s full of little nuggets that are drawn from real Hollywood history. Start with the main character Norma Desmond, see if you can figure why that name.

    Oh dear
Been a fan for a while, but the big oil ad really turned me off. Glad you have advertising, but I really don’t want to hear b.s. from a company that has done so much to make the world a worse place. See ya down the road.

Let her answer. I would like to hear you allow her to complete a sentence. Stop interrupting.

    Love this storyteller
Been listening for years, and always enjoy the quirky stories he tells, spun with his genuine love for history.

    Great podcast
Very cool and interesting information/stories. I love the “old-timey” advertisements and jingles. The podcast is a mix of unknown stories and lost interesting information about everyday items that is not commonly known

    Refreshing
Useful Indeed. Interesting and amazing. Everyone Should Be Listening To This Podcast.

    Great Show
I stumbled upon this on Apple and I’ve loved it ever since. I drive a lot so I love the fact that the library is deep. Steve Silverman has a great tone and I’ll admit I even get a chuckle outta his corny jokes. Highly recommend.

I was feeling very emotional when you said you were leaving. Good April fool joke. I have a head full of useless info and I depend on your show to supplement my inventory. Glad you’re staying.

    Best Podcast
I fell in love with history when I was in high school due to an amazing and passionate teacher. This podcast reminds me of my favorite classes with him, and I get very excited whenever a new episode becomes available.

    Friendly Entertainment
I find that this enlightening podcast is like having an old friend telling you a late night story by the fireside. Thank you Steve for such a wonderful variety of rather quite useful information to likewise share with friends and family.

Please do more episodes. I love it.

    Need trigger warnings
I don't need trigger warnings for much except dog suffering. I couldn't finish the episode on -- maybe spoiler alert --- the young adult woman's punishment gone wrong. I was too concerned about where that was going.
  • wiley roadrunner
Don’t know what people are talking about
When they say he he’s an odd voice, and so what if he is an audible breather, you should listen for the stories not the sound of the host breathing, I think that this is a great podcast
  • applot198
    EXCELLENT! And by the way...
I have listened to this podcast since 2013 and am so happy to see it getting more attention. As strange at it sounds, listening to his podcast helped me through a messy divorce. It’s such an interesting collection of stories and information. I love it. I finally had to comment after reading someone’s review about not liking the hosts voice. I found it so bizarre because I have always found his voice to be easy listening, almost therapeutic. The host is awesome! Steve, if you’re reading this, please ignore that persons ridiculous criticism.
