Jeff, ChicagoFive stars anywayFive stars for Rib’a erudition, his great voice, and the perfect tone he sets for these stories. Never mocking, but always a wry sense of humor peeking through all the history. The “anyway,” Rob, is because you need to be more careful with your editing! (I say this as a non professional but I assume we needn’t hear the actor refer to a “page turn…”.) Am looking forward to next season! Prettybelle? Kelly? The Lady Comes Across? xoxo

justiceforblackamerica2020Really fun podcast! Can you please master your recordings to even out the audio levels?? The dynamic range is way too broad for podcasts and makes certain things hard to hear. Love the show tho!

BillhavenAn answer to What went wrong?!Very enjoyable series on huge Broadway failures that closed on the road. The best part is listening to folks who were eye witnesses to these debacles. We get interviews with some of the actors and even a producer! There remarks are candid and seen from the perspective of 20-30 years (or more) later. We are also treated to recreations of the scripts and live recordings of the scores. Busker Alley was a treat to hear as well as a couple of fine numbers from Paper Moon. For all those who curious about just what went wrong (a lot!), this is essential listening!

mrChuckReally Enjoying This. This is a great deal of fun. Pure, inside-baseball storytelling from a host whose quips never get tiresome. This is like having drinks with an old Broadway friend, the kind who gets you comps to the ailing show he’s assistant-stage-managing, who promises to tell you why the part Elaine Stritch was playing has just been offered to Sandy Duncan AND Billy Porter, but “Don’t say a word, because none of them know about each other… YET… but listen to what went down in rehearsal today…” Well-produced, researched, and delivered. I can’t get enough. I’m on my third episode, and hope this never ends.

Jobiennj0550Love this podcast. It’s wonderful. Some of the information will probably be known by flop aficionados, but a lot is new and fun. The host is great. He’s funny, and yet respectful to the creators of those shows that did big bellyflops. ( I hope he stays that way.) Look forward to each episode. Can We Take the Town, Lolita, My Love, One Night Stand, and Prettybelle be far behind?

Vmurphy14King of Broadway PodcastsRob is endless with his knowledge of history of the musical theatre. Personable and easy to listen to, someone who is maybe just curious of Broadway or history I think would still really enjoy this podcast. The best thing about his podcasts is you always learn something new! I recommend to listeners to check out his other podcasts as well but I can safely say this one is one of my favorites!

justinsfischerBe a responsible Broadway fanWe have long heard that bees have knees and they are the arbiters of taste, elevation and the intersectionality of education and culture. Ergo, celebrate the antophilian joint with this new podcast from Robert Schneider who got Paul Kandel to talk about recording that high ‘D’ in ‘Bells of Notre Dame’ and even squeezed a virtual smile out of an exhausted Lee Adams. American musical theatre is full of genius endeavors that have fallen into the proverbial cracks-between-the-seats of history…how many of us know the ‘Rags’, the ‘Zorba’s, the ‘Blue Flower’s (my personal hill to die on), the pieces that have been stopped short of their inevitable global domination? Schneider carries the mantle as our Mary Magdelene, rolling the rock back and resurrecting pieces that deserve our attention, much as this podcast deserves yours. Tell your friends, wake the neighbors, and go scour your aunt’s record collection for that recording of ‘Prettybelle’. In the lineage of Ken Mandelbaum and Indiana Jones, Mr. Schneider is making archaeology sexy again.

bertobobRob left me wanting moreHaving just listened to the first ep of Rob’s new podcast, I can tell this is quickly going to become a fave. Getting to hear Rob discuss the Broadway show that almost was is a treat in itself, but he also lets the listener hear from the creators themselves. Now add selections from the score and he’s got you wanting more. Future episodes can’t come soon enough!
