10/10 raw emotions and real conversations!!
★★★★★ This podcast feels like a deep conversation with your best friends —raw, honest, and full of heart. The hosts tackle friendship, relationships, and life’s ups and downs with humor, wisdom, and real-life stories that make you feel seen. They leave me reflecting, laughing, and feeling more connected to the people in my life. If you’re looking for something that’s both comforting and thought-provoking, this is the perfect listen!

    Wonderful!
I really appreciate this podcast! Not only is it incredibly thought provoking, but it is well researched. They have truly dove into the importance of in person connection in this new, hyper connected environment that we all live in. Such a beautiful concept and well done. Thank you Sam and Elliot!

    Lovely podcast, but….
You have a great podcast. Thoughtful and sincere. I just struggle with the uptalk/ upspeak from the female host. It’s so distracting I couldn’t concentrate on the conversation. I apologize for criticizing, but felt compelled to share as constructive criticism. Best of luck y’all.

    Almost there.
There’s so much promise here. Unfortunately, I feel the husband seems to get lost on tangents that aren’t fully relevant or misguided. Maybe he needs more prep work to make sure he understands the focus of the research being discussed and how it’s applicable? Sadly, he also comes off as unnecessarily contrarian. In all, it makes the listening experience less enjoyable and less informative. My suggestions.. again more prep and time spent getting on page, stay focused and think more about your audience. The questions directed at the wife regarding their personal situation feels awkward. Love the overall topic though and think the wife comes across very natural. Like listening to her!

Restores faith and the younger generation and makes me giggle at getting such great advice from young folks. Keep up the great work and thank you.!

    Not the best
The topics are interesting, but I’m not subscribing or listening any more. I don’t appreciate the curse words. That demonstrates ignorance and lack of intelligent conversation.

    Excellent podcast
I randomly fell upon your show. I think the diagnostic found you but I’m so glad to be follower now. I love you both. Your are endearing transparent and honest!! I couldn’t stop listening. I listened to like 5-6 episodes in a row today/Saturday. Great show. I’m learning about myself, podcasting, friendships communication and my favorite KOMBUCHA Thanks for being your vulnerable selves. I’ve learned a lot and have truly found some inspiration to FAIL!!! Wishing you amazing success with your businesses, families, friends and podcasts. Keep going you’re doing a GREAT thing!!! The Evolution of the Masculine
This episode is so refreshing, I need to listen again! Ben is real, and honest, and raw. I definitely see that the stereotype of male strength is evolving -> kindness, generosity, compassion, and vulnerability, 💜

    Could Use Some Work
Conversations were unfocused; the female host seems more informed, but the male host rambles on far more frequently. Listening is sort of like sitting in on a couple’s awkward therapy session. If anything, I took away the perils of excessive introspection; trying to “hack” and explain and understand yourself can lead to self-obsession and unhappiness. There’s a fine to walk between listening to yourself and becoming beholden to your feelings.

I love this podcast it is so fun to listen to while I work

    I adore this podcast!
I get a very warm, cozy feeling from listening to the conversations that Sam and Elliot bring to the table. The ability to share their experiences (and and in turn make the audience feel understood and not alone) is a true gift these two offer to their listeners. With a name like “something more human,” I’d be let down if every moment of this podcast was perfectly polished/edited. Instead they offer what feels like a way more genuine and real interaction, something more relatable to those of us who are imperfect and striving for self-acceptance.

    Loving this podcast!
So refreshing listening to real people have real conversations that explore connection. This podcast continues to bring insightful conversations that inspire more real life connections.

    Wanted to like but couldn’t
Not a bad idea, but the female’s voice and the way she speaks is… a problem. Every statement has an upward lilt at the end and sounds like she’s asking a question.

    Not a fan!
Elliot spoke over sam several times, or completely disregarded what she said by immediately changing topics and not acknowledging her ideas. Also elliot’s gulping noises while trying the tea was disgusting and annoying. Also using the word “tribe” as white people is cultural appropriation. I’ve only listened to a few episodes but am unimpressed and will be unfollowing.

    Insightful and Heartwarming
There’s no such thing as a perfect marriage but I can get it as close as I can. The little lessons I’ve learned from this podcast have been inspiring and heart felt. The episode with Elliot’s parents is my favorite so far especially the whole discussion regarding respect for elders and aging. Great content, keep the episodes coming.

    Thoughtful conversations
I thoroughly enjoyed the last few episodes. In a time were everyone is focused on their phones, I think it is important to make sure to put the phone away and look for human connection. Thank you for the kind reminder.

I’m looking for ways to make connection since I’m still fairly new to my city and I have learned so much from the podcast! I love the insight Sam and Elliot gave about meeting people in their apartment complex by putting themselves out there! I will continue listening!

    White dudes only
White dudes monopolizing the conversation and women aren’t allowed to speak… No thanks
  • ObsessedDownSouth
Wanted to listen, but couldn’t get past the female hosts
Completely extending this with grace and kindness, the female host has a forceful uptalk at the end of every other word…. I also feel like I am listening to her one 1/2 speed.

    Compelling, Insightful, All Around Fantastic
I absolutely love this podcast! Sam and Elliot bring so many perspectives to the common and the unconventional topics of today. Not only is their banter delicious and enjoyable to listen to, it brings a lightheartedness to the weighty subjects many people struggle with or find troublesome to converse out in the open. Both Sam and Elliot bring great insight to this podcast from their experiences as individuals and as a married couple. As an introvert, I find it challenging to feel connected to those around me but this podcast has definitely shifted my views on the importance of human connection and is helping me fabricate a new perspective on what connection means for me. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is either a podcast lover or to someone who is trying to incorporate a podcast a bit more regularly into their schedule like myself. Thank you for sharing all your amazing thoughts and wisdom with us, Sam and Elliot! You two truly rock!

    New favorite pod!
I often seek out podcasts containing thoughtful conversations with thoughtful people. That is exactly how I would describe SMH. They speak about a lot of universal topics that all relate to human connection in a raw and honest way. I’d recommend to anyone!

    Candid and so relevant!
Came across this podcast by chance and really enjoyed how relevant it is to the (very real) struggle of human connections. I’m grateful that you’re bringing this to the forefront and helping people develop emotional intelligence. My only peeve is the amount of unnecessary swearing. I think it’s not needed to get the message across. Great job!

    sweet people doing sweet things
like pulling up a seat and sitting next to new friends at your favorite coffee shop. this is my go to podcast to keep my company on my long commute, and never ceases to make me feel more at ease in this world, more like there’s always going to be sweet people out there doing sweet things and moving with intention.

    I Feel More Human (literally)
Listening to this podcast while on a walk, cleaning, or on my commute to work in NYC, where it’s easy to feel alone, I find myself somehow feeling seen. Sam and Elliot are a married couple whom I find myself looking up to, and after listening to their European Trip episode, find myself loving even more. I often question how my relationship measures up to others, especially because my partner and I don’t have any other “couple” friends. Listening to Sam and Elliot discuss difficult topics, fights, and so much more that they experience together as a couple literally makes me feel more human!! I don’t know how else to describe it. And it reminds me that every couple has arguments and compromises. I feel SEEN, and more confident in my needs and desires as a human and a partner when referring to my own relationship. I can’t wait to hear more and meet more guests as the show continues. Hear more personal stories and lessons learned, all of it feeds my human soul who longs to be understood.

Like a long hug for your ears
This podcast is like a long hug from an old friend. Sam and Elliot elegantly weave stories and questions that illuminate the beauty, and sometimes pain, of genuine connections. Their relationship is inspiring, their banter makes you feel heard, and the community they are building is beautiful. Definitely give it a listen.

    Real recognizing real
One the many things I love about this podcast is the fact that you not only step into the psyche of Sam and Eliot but you feel like you’re there with them. This podcast gives you a sense of belonging in a world that needs more connection and that’s exactly why the title is so fitting because it’s raw and honest as much as humanity can be.

    What is human connection?
Follow and listen to a couple who is genuinely interested in and passionate about human connections. Real and authentic.

    Distracting speech Cadence
I love the idea of this and was really excited to listen after seeing it recommended by Apple Podcasts. Being someone who is highly audio-sensitive, I couldn’t listen longer than ten minutes because of the female host having the vocal cadence/inflection of going up in pitch at the end of every single sentence and often in the middle of sentences as if she is asking questions rather than making statements or telling stories. The male host also often fell into step in the same way on the tail end of his sentences. I highly recommend them to listen to their Europe episode from the beginning with this note in mind, as it is very distracting to the listener once one hears it.

Great podcast for those trying to navigate this crazy road we call life. :)

    The podcast the world needs.
In an increasingly competitive and isolalated world, Something More Human is that spark that we as humans have been craving. Stripped to its core, it’s simply sitting down for a deep conversation with two people you might have never met but instantly feel like your best friends with. Playing it while making dinner, going for a walk, taking the train to work, or at the gym, you instantly feel like you’re part of something bigger than yourself: the human race! It’s so hard these days to be reminded of the things that truly matter in life: things like sharing bottles of wine with friends and using the empty glass to hold taper candles at your next family dinner. Like becoming a regular at your favorite local coffee shop and meeting people there with whom you have genuine connections, regardless of their age. Shots of espresso split with the barista, taking photos of people you love, writing poems in leather notebooks, sending postcards to long-distance friends, calling your mom, cooking dinner for your partner. Little things like that, things that remind you what’s truly important: human connection. Sam & Elliot will wrap you up in their vulnerability and you’ll wonder how you ever made it through your daily commute without Something More Human.

    Conversations and coffee
I love listening to your podcast while I’m gardening. I feel like I’m there having the conversation with you guys. Thought provoking questions and I appreciate your honesty and humor. Look forward to more!
  • Slothtroph
    Wonderful.
Elliot and Sam have a great way of opening up conversations about heavy topics and allowing their guests the space to talk in a vulnerable, honest way. No matter which episode you listen to, expect to hear from a diverse group of complex, real, and incredibly entertaining guests. The topics range from self care, relationship building, navigating hard situations, all the way to starting a business and moving to a new city. Sam and Elliot bring a fresh approach to what a podcast can and should be. I highly recommend.

    A breath of fresh air.
Connection! That is what this podcast is all about and boy do they make you feel like you’re sitting there having the conversation with them over a nice cup of tea or coffee even though I am listening miles and miles away! Sam & Elliot are a match like no other and their connection and relationship brings so much light and joy into this pod. I can’t wait to keep listening, learning, and becoming inspired to foster connection!
