Grit&glamourGrit and GlamourSteve and Nan love their subject matter and the passion comes through every episode. I first discovered this podcast last summer during a month on Crete. From the glamour of Hollywood to the dark side of has beens and wannabes, the research is thorough and the presentation is so sincere you can’t help embracing this team.

MissWeezeyGood Subject Matter - Giddy HostsThis is right in my wheelhouse. Hollywood’s golden era is my subject, so this should be a favorite podcast for me… but there’s just something off about the presentation. The presenters are just a little bit smug, rushed and artificially giddy as they rattle through the talking points. I don’t know exactly what it is… shades of NPR maybe, but I’m not convinced that the enthusiasm is authentic, it feels corporate and mechanical under the surface, with the annoying music bed and rushed presentation.

AmÿDisappointedWould be nice if they pronounced peoples’ names correctly and most of it wasn’t from Wikipedia or the rumor mill.
-

LuzanneoCuration PerfectionAs a self-proclaimed expert of Old Hollywood, particularly the pre-code era, it’s easy to give 5 stars after listening to episode 43’s spot on list of 1930s best pictures. Whether a fellow armchair expert or not sure where to start your classic picture journey, this informed podcast with fellow enthusiasts is exceptional. Thank you for keeping this wonderful content coming!

Miss DevoySo very entertaining!I love Old Hollywood and have read so many books and listen to so many podcasts and yet I learn something wonderful and new with each episode ! They connect dots I never knew about. The hosts have an engaging and vibrant style! They really show their passion for the subject - Bravo !!

CaitBee123A lighthearted look at historySteve and Nan are wonderful hosts because they truly love the subjects they are talking about, whether that is a person, place, or Hollywood institution. You’re not going to get serious music stings but you are going to get a well researched account of that subject, both the good and bad aspects. I would pair this in the category of the intros and outros on TCM, still light but has to go into the dark on occasion to give their audience the full picture.

Emily.BeanGreat Dive Into Classic FilmsSo, I wasn’t really into classic Hollywood films, but I always wanted to be. I was just too intimidated by how many films there were and no clue where to start. This podcast is a nice way of having a curated selection of films based off of each week’s theme and as long as I can find them, the suggestions are a huge help into my movie watching journey. Plus I get the hot gossip that went on in the background while these films were being filmed. Plus the dynamic between Steve and Nan is a breath of fresh air and I love their podcasting style. Take it from this film novice, even if you know nothing about Classic Hollywood, or everything about them, you will be better for having Steve and Nan to take you along the journey. Could not recommend more!

MrsteeveeGreat material and hosts! Finally interesting material with hosts that are entertaining! Do some noir please!

DC57 !We are tired of hearing ……….the useless cliche; " I am so tired of hearing women are difficult but a man is strong”. Wrong! if a man is being a pain in the butt, he is known as being a jerk, an idiot or other similar monikers, he is not known as “strong:” Enjoy your podcast but please stop with the silly cliches.
-
TasparteestJust found it - wonderful!Been looking for hosts I find engaging … thank you!

reesecup1985Fascinating, entertaining 30 min for anyone with a love for HollywoodFound this through a friend’s recommendation and two episodes in it has not disappointed. The wealth of historical and cultural nuggets so pleasantly dispensed by Steve and Nan in the Knickerbocker Hotel episode alone will have anyone hooked. Hit the Follow button and enjoy!

JLShiba0328Great Podcast 🎞️Hoping for more episodes! I listened to all of the firsts available in one day. This has far and away been one of the better classic film findings for a fan of both Classic Hollywood and podcasts about the subject especially with what seems to be the dwindling quality in 2023. Awesome work. Especially like the trivia and the continuity towards prior episodes.
-

WallOfSoundReally well-produced, well-researched and just plain fun!I swore these two had been doing this pod for years, because they sound so seasoned! I couldn't believe it when I found out this is a brand new show! They really do dive into some of the more little-known stories on this show. It will change the weay I look at things next time I drive through Hollywood! I came here from "Box Of Oddities" and "The Shallow End." Between these three pods, I feel like my commute is almost downright fun! Way to go, Steve and Nan!
-
