It’s like I have a studio full of art friends!
Listening to the podcast is such a delight! As lonely as it can get in the studio whenever I tune in I feel like I’m sitting around talking art with my art friends. You are both so relatable and I really enjoy the conversations!

Very real and genuine and funny
This felt so relatable and honest. I love that they’re building a community around something we all do but don’t necessarily like to talk about.

    So refreshing!!
Wow, thank you two for inviting us into your mindset and daily practice of being a fine artist. It can be a lonely, niche world, and I find myself resonating with so many of your conversations. It kind of feels like I’m having coffee with some friends, even though I’m just listening in. Thank you for offering your wisdom, humor, and encouragement to keep going and growing. XX Nicole Gosling

    Loving it
While not “technically” an artist I’m loving hearing the conversations between Phoebe and Julie because they resonate just as brilliantly. Thank you!

Like hanging out with 2 artist friends!
Listening you Fail Like An Artist is like hanging out with 2 wonderful friends. I love the pace of this show (so much more relaxed than most American podcasts and conversations), and I find it very relaxing. I love listening while I’m making my Potters’ Skin Butter lotion for potters. It passes the time cheerfully, and I often find myself chuckling out loud at what they say.

    My Favorite Art Podcast
Besides being wonderful artists, Julie and Phoebe are lovely, kind people. I look forward to every new episode and listen while I paint. It’s like having two girlfriends in my studio chatting about the same things I often think about. They’re authenticity, honesty, kindness and generosity is appreciated. Give it a listen, you’re going to love it 😍 @RuthAustinArt

    New listener
Found this wonderful podcast last week and am currently bingeing from the beginning. Nothing better than listening to two smart and funny women conversing honestly about the trials of making art. Thanks Julie and Phoebe!

Heartfelt and laugh out loud - gem of a podcast
Phoebe and Julie are incredibly talented painters and have a gem of a podcast. They talk about life, art, failing and all sorts of stuff in hilarious and witty ways. I love the way they laugh (and snort) and have a drink with ice cubes clanking (oh wait, it’s paintbrushes in a glass 😊) in the background. Thanks to you both for sharing all of your thoughts, life moments and artist bits in such a fun way.

    New Favorite Podcast
This has quickly become one of my go to listens in the studio. It’s comical and then also validates so much we go through as artists. Thank you!!

    Imposter syndrome
Upon listening to this I though of an exercise I did with a therapist months ago. I suffered from “I don’t matter”. she had me repeat 10x’s 3 times a day “I have value and great worth and I matter a great deal”. Now I thought this was ridiculous at the time and felt silly saying it, and yet these thoughts no longer served me so I was ready to give this a try. I did it and after 3 days I was seeing where I mattered everywhere! My brain was looking for evidence of what I was saying. She explained it as carving a new neural pathway. “I don’t matter” didn’t go away but I am able to see the evidence of how I do matter when that comes up. Great conversations! I just found you two so thank you for sharing all the issues that come up and letting us know we are not alone in our thinking.

    every artist needs this podcast
it is one thing to be told that all artists feel insecure or that we all have those imposter syndrome moments. however this podcast is a stark reminder that we all go through these things and that you’re not alone in your artist journey. this is the art podcast I have always hoped for yet have been unable to find before now. you ladies are amazing and inspiring and thank you for making this

    Five stars isn’t enough
If you’re an artist looking for a sense of community and the shared struggles of creatives, this is the podcast for you!! Phoebe and Julie’s candor and light-hearted humor give a delightful approach to considering the “failures” worth facing and how they’ve navigated difficulties in their unique artistic journeys. Complete with laughter and mystery noises - are they ice cubes? Are they brushes clinking on the rinse jar? Give it a listen - you won’t be disappointed.

    Validating
It’s so nice to hear how so many amazing artists feel the same way I have. Great quotes and fantastic discussion! (And please keep doing outtakes at the end 😆)

Plain talk about art and motivation
I loved this new podcast… the ladies have pleasant voices and energies are very down to earth and encouraging. If you are an artist, enjoy art, or aspire to dabble in art I think you will enjoy spending time with them.

    Love the bloopers!
And the snorting laughs (don’t edit that!) and now for the mystery sound. At first I thought it was one of you pouring a cocktail in order to calm down but then I realized —- it’s finally cleaned brushes being put back into an empty glass container. (Or no, is it just me who leaves them in their drying rack and/or jar of water?) Loved “hanging out” with you both!

    I feel justified!
Ladies, outstanding job with this idea and show. It made me feel so good to hear that two women I see as highly talented and successful also struggle with style. A long over due show that will be a great help to anyone who listens. And somehow, can you post or link the quotes that your read. They were really great! Thank you again!

Artists — add this to your rotation.
Brilliant first episode. I subscribe to dozens of podcasts for creatives, and ‘Fail Like An Artist’ has all the makings of a “must listen to” show. Great insights from Phoebe Gander and Julie Battisti on their respective journeys to becoming professional artists. These ladies are funny, honest, relatable, and best of all — generous with the lessons they share. A no-brainer addition to the list of favs in my rotation. If you like Art Juice, the Laura Horn Art Podcast, or Susan Nethercote’s show, you’ll enjoy ‘Fail Like An Artist.’ Already looking forward to the next episode!
