    So dissapointing
Absolutely not necessary to use the foul language. A great subject that I am interested in. Just can’t stand the immature use of curse words.

    Awesome just awesome!!
You are just a beautiful human! Love hearing you and the stories! Keep it up and thank you for being You!!
  • NevrFail
    Very well done!!
Ed Helms you are the most talented man ever! There's nothing you can't do and do very well. I've been listening to podcasts for 10 years and your storytelling is among the very best!!!

Nice if you like podcast with your ads
I like the show a lot but it feels like there are more ads than podcast which is very frustrating. The stories are fun and Ed does a good job of narrating but just get ready to hit skip about 20 times.

    Entertaining and Informative
I’ve seen numerous shows about Prohibition, but I’ve never heard this story. I learned a lot from this show and was entertained as well. Some historical podcast are too dry and fact-packed, and too long. This one was the perfect length. Thank you! Can you research and report on other laws that didn’t work and had unintended consequences?

    SNAFU is for You!
I’m here to annoy anyone who is low balling the score based on saying something is what it is. Sorry not sorry.
  • I'm Not Rumplestiltskin!
I gave this 5 stars because I like Ed Helms as an actor but…
I gave this 5 stars because I like Ed Helms as an actor but this storytelling format is best left to Ira Glass et al at This American Life who get to the point poignantly. Forty-five minutes into Season 1 Episode 1 and the big reveal is… stay tuned for the next episode making this a 3/4 hour teaser.

    What a ride
Edit: Season 3!! This has to be my favorite podcast in production. I’m so glad it’s back! Love Ed Helms, and love what he’s done with this podcast. Informative and funny, this season was a lot of fun to listen to. Especially loved the bonus episode with Rachel Maddow. Can’t wait to see what next season brings us!

    Went downhill
Loved the show until the JD Vance episode keep and then the pablum puking liberal lies started. It’s a shame you’ve got a good thing going then ruined it.

    History with Heart and Humor!
More poignant than ever. We may be entering a new era of Cointelpro. I thought we were beginning to live MLK’s dream, instead we are repeating the nightmares of the past. We shall overcome!

    Well done! 👏👏👏
One of my all time favorite podcasts!! Beautifully researched and expertly executed. Thank you!

Really well written and the production quality is palpable. An excellent listen.

    Fun and Thought-provoking
Well researched and engaging. Ed Helms does a good job keeping things light without going overboard with jokes. The audio is well-mixed so the only time your ears might get annoyed is from interviews where the interviewee has a scratchy voice, but not much to do about that.

    Season 2 was incredible!
Such a massive step up in quality, consistency, and pacing in season 2! Ed and his team tell an amazing story chalk-full of primary source material and interviews with the people involved in Medburg, and they really land the plane in terms of relating to our world today. I’d recommend Season 2 to anyone and I learned a lot with a grin on my face. Superb!

    Amazing
I loved Season 2 - so relevant, so moving! Great journalism, great storytelling! Please create many more seasons!

    Mentally Enchanted Audience
I love history but couldn’t find a podcast that kept me engaged till now. I want more!

    Interesting but over produced
The content is really interesting, but like a lot of I heart productions, there’s a certain element that’s a little grating. If someone else was narrating, it would be five stars

    Super good
Love this pod, greatly! Worth every second. Wish it could never end.

    Love this show!
Absolutely love this show, always super well done. But for some reason, episode 1 of the new season is SUPER quiet. But other than that, the episode was fantastic.

    Best podcast available
Ed Helms is funny, interesting and insightful with a charming delivery. I had never awareness of the topics for seasons 1-2 but now I can’t wait for season 3!!!

    LOVE this podcast!
As someone who lives with the Vietnam war daily through my PTSD veteran spouse, it was incredibly emotional to hear this story from the courageous activists. A cautionary tale for those supporting politicians who would encourage or recreate a “Hoover” atmosphere in our country.

Great podcast! And a thank you
Hey friends, I’m really loving the podcast. The topics you’ve chosen so far are so important. Ed deserved a better interview on the Daily Show, cuz you’ve really got a great thing going here.

    The Truth Hurts but 🤷‍♀️
Having lived during these episodes as an ordinary working woman, I am rarely surprised but, when journalism was ‘real’ in the USA it sent shockwaves across the nation. Nothing is ever as the government wants us to believe. Thank you Ed and team !! Cynthia Ps. I am 76

    Mind Blowing and Binge-worthy
I stumbled across this podcast and binged the first season in a week. I found it entertaining, informative and shocking. I liked the mix of the host and interviews with the people involved. This is the type of information that isn’t shared in schools but is vital for people to share, and learn from. Thank you!

    I Need More!
Typically media in this genre scares me, filling me a sense of impending doom. However, there’s something about Ed Helms’ delivery that makes me so entertained to learn about these important moments in our history that I feel too few know about. I have spent the past week listening to Season 2 and then Season 1 after hearing about it on the Office Ladies podcast. I don’t know when another season is happening, but I am very much so looking forward to it. Great work, and thank you!

    Keep It Coming!
I listened to season 1 and 2, in 3 days! Each episode left me eagerly waiting for the next one. Can’t wait to see what season 3 will be about! Ed Helms is very funny and engaging and I love learning about history that I never knew!

    Spoonful of sugar
This is the way! Great pod with vital subject matter. The title is so mismatched I have to assume that it’s intentionally so.

Season One Tiresome Lack of Objectivity
Ed Helms is an engaging performer and I was looking forward to checking out this take on the Able Archer story. What a disappointment! What could’ve been an informative listen quickly devolves into blatant distortions and political bias! There is solid info to be gleaned here on a fascinating subject but don’t go in expecting an objective viewpoint.

    Season 2
Such a gripping accounting of Hoover’s FBI. I couldn’t stop listening to it! I grew up during those times but was not aware of this incredible story! I hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

    Great Story
Season Two is so good!! Going back for Season One now!!

    Amazing!!
SNAFU is one of my favorite podcasts! Ed Helms does an amazing job narrating and journeying through the story for the listeners. I hope there are many more SNAFU seasons to come!!

    Bravo
Congrats on a banger of a series! Y’all are gonna be popular. I loved every episode! All should listen to this; the production is on point, the interviews were each so compelling and revealing. Every episode is a gem. Ed Helms is a national treasure, but there’s so many people who deserve props, so thank you to anyone reading this that was involved with this season. SNAFU is a perfect answer to the question “why podcasting?”
  • The Nameless Twin
    Fun and informative
I like history and humor. This has both. I hope we’re going to get more stories. Added: Just finished episode 8 of season two. This was so much fun! I’ll leave off with the same as at the end of season one: I hope we get more! additional edit: Ed Helms has really impressed me this season with how educated he is. His use of language and understanding of esoteric concepts makes me love the show more. I often wish I knew people who can converse this way.

    Delightful, Interesting, Engaging
This show has been super fun to listen to as my way of taking a break from the news. It brings you along wild threads of history with a spin of humor. Ed Helms and the team producing this show has really done a great job. I can’t wait to go back and listen to the first season. I’m also eager for any new seasons that come along as well.

    Wrong title, but fantastic podcast
I’ve only heard season 2 at this point, but what a powerful, inspiring story, beautifully told. SO relevant and timely. I highly recommend this podcast! I’m a language-person, though, so I have to say -- every time Ed Helms introduces the show’s name I physically cringe. The word “Snafu” is fun and quirky, but he’s not using it correctly here! What the FBI did was not a “snafu,” which indicates a kind of hapless mess, an annoyance. It really undermines their accountability for a very deliberate, malicious campaign that destroyed countless lives. I still love your podcast, though!

    This podcast is awesome!
You learn a little (or a lot), it’s funny and poignant at the same time. Listen! You won’t be disappointed.

    Band name
You missed a trick. Their a jazz band. They should call themselves the Hep Replacements.

    Fun, Terrifying, and Thought Provoking
A wild ride, especially when you consider the stakes. Fortunately, there is plenty silly commentary throughout the show, otherwise D- - N! And yes Ed, you are the hero here. 🫡😂

    Lovely show

    Too many ads
Great story. Just too many ads to fast forward through
  • The_nimmersatt
    Interesting topic, needs an editor
The topic is of interest, but the podcast could be a third the length. There is a lot of repetition and tons of time spent teasing and reteasing future complements. I would prefer they just told the story. Also, reminds me of one my favorite fiction books from this era: Fail-Safe.
  • Uralriver
    Nice
This is very nice retelling of history and significantly funny.

    2 seasons and a movie?
Love to see you direct the movie version of these important stories. Great job Ed. You have wonderful storytelling chops.

    The Number One Best Podcast
This is a absolutely fantastic podcast that helps me learn what I’ve not known about something I’ve already heard about. Ed Helms. This is truly with all honesty my number one favorite podcast 😊

The greatest history podcast to exist!!!!
This is one of the greatest podcasts that I’ve ever found. Ed Helms does a fantastic job with telling these stories and bringing to light some of the craziest things that our government has done to us. The production value on this podcast is exceptional, and I’m on the edge of my seat for every new episode, do yourself a favor and listen to the first season and then the second all this history that I had no idea happened told in such a fantastic way. Ed Helms please continue to do these. I can’t wait to hear what you cover next!
  • BethSYoung
