The 11th Hour: A Rancid Podcast

17

A podcast where two dudes in their 40s discuss a different Rancid song each week. They reflect on their lives, their (inexplicable) fandom, and why certain parts of our youth continue to hold meaning beyond simple nostalgia. Is it a midlife crisis or honest self-reflection? Join us on a journey to the end and find out... THE 11TH HOUR IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH RANCID

    Conflicted
They are fans of the band, however they seem to be stuck on the old classics and fall short on the growth that the band achieved as they have aged. The podcast is more a critical take on the music and not a breakdown of the history and meaning of the songs. I understand that “AOCTW” is considered the best album and might hit nostalgicly to many folks. In 25 years “honor” or “Trouble maker” might be a favorite for people as well. So many great songs over so many years. I don’t think they indtend to crap on the bands post “Indestructible” period. It does come off that way ,seemingly degrading Rancids musical efforts the last 18 years. Music is often about individual interpretation in the time of your life you listen to the albums and often reflect on that time when you hear the song years later. Every album brings me back to the time that album was released. I agree some songs mean more personally than others and some are better musically than others. I’ve become more of a fan as the band grows and continues to make the music they want to make with no outside pressure. I’m sure I would be friends with the two podcasters but we would argue about the merits of the “Dominos “ album.

    Thank you
Dudes, I'm so glad there is a place to examine my conflicted relationship with this band. HIAWK- do the first three songs together. That's the closest we come back to 2000.

    incredible
what an incredible and thoughtful approach to a band that probably rarely gets anything this thoughtful.

    Awesome PunkCast
This is an amazing podcast with two gracious hosts giving us insight into not only the music, but their personal experiences with it. I really like this, it really elevates the music and makes it more personal and grounded, rather than feeling like it was made by a band that will never know of our existence. Every Wednesday I look forward to a new episode and with that a new song to listen to and gather more knowledge about. If you’re a rancid fan, this is the place to be. And if you’re not a rancid fan, still check this out, these guys will make you love it.
