Bedrock: Earth's Earliest History

11

This podcast starts at the beginning of Earth's prehistory and works forward through time. Bedrock will explore the first 90% of Earth’s past, a time known as the Precambrian Era. Before humans, before dinosaurs… there was the Precambrian. The Earth was an incredibly alien world, but not a dead one. Along the way, you will build a mental toolkit to see the world like a geologist. You will never look at a mountain, the moon, or pond scum in quite the same way again.Welcome to Bedrock. For transcripts, visuals, and references, check out https://www.bedrockpodcast.com

    News of the ages.
I’ve forgotten most of the geology I learned at school, much of which is out of date/perspective anyway. I follow US politics fairly closely and find it a pleasing relief to change the subject from time to time. What a delight to hear from someone who has gone off in another direction and who nonetheless can speak to the lay listener and share the fascinating history of our world. Thank you.

    Outstanding Bedrock
I can’t say enough that’s good about this podcast. Dr. Wilmeth spins a fine and profound yarn for our planet’s deepest history. His voice and narrative propels and soothes almost simultaneously. The program’s production is minimal, not gratuitous, just enough to whip things along. Bedrock is truly foundational.

    Love it!
Fallen in love with Geology again! Brings back memories from school. Too bad I'm not in the industry. I love the classical music and Shakespeare. Keep it up!!!
  • My nickname taken.
    My New Favorite!
Wish these were longer. So few podcasts address anything before the Cambrian. Really interesting content and wonderful music to accompany it. More, please.

    Bedrock: Earth's Earliest History
A very informative, detailed Precambrian history, that is limited in the many popular geology books I have read. The presentation is clear and repeated as necessary to connect all the episodes. I expect that the author, who creates all the dialog, will turn the episodes into an audio book, at least. Having caught up on all past episodes, I look forward to new ones.

    Wow
This is one of the best. Clearly written, deeply thought out. Has he written a book? I will buy it. Absolutely a gift for science writing.

    Bravissimo!
You’ve gotten to be quite the narrator and producer! Love these glimpses into our crazy-weirdo life-filled planet, and appreciate your perspective on it! Bravo! Small note, maybe use a de-esser on your voice channel to tamp down on some of the “ess” sounds. Again, you’re brilliant, and I’m so glad you find time to do this what with your new appointment.
