    Great podcast on great films!!
Stumbled upon the podcast after watching Jeanne Dielman and have been enjoying all the episodes I’ve listened to!!! There are a lot of movie podcasts but not many are dedicated to old films so I’m really glad you guys are doing the gods work 🫡🫡 a lot of research goes into each episode but you made the discussions so entertaining and inspiring. Might watch more classics just to hear you guys chat about it haha

    My All-Time Favorite Podcast
A total success in filling a much-needed void of consistent talk surrounding the Sight and Sound list and cinema history. Jackie and Greg are perfect hosts due to their enthusiasm, consistency, and colossal effort that are poured into each week’s episode. Scene and Heard has played an instrumental role in my journey of falling in love with film, and I am forever thankful!

The Pros and Cons of Scene and Heard
I’ve been a listener of Scene and Heard for over a year, and during this time, I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge from their content. The microphones they use are top-notch, providing crystal-clear audio that’s sometimes almost too clear for my liking. Jackie and Greg have great chemistry. I especially love when they have disagreements like in their episode of “Greed” or “Au Hasard balthazar.” I love how they interweave sounds from said movie to make it more immersive for the listener. They are also just really entertaining to watch, even when they are talking about a movie I didn’t really like. Jackie’s synopses and trivia are always insightful, adding depth to our understanding of the movies. However, I’ve noticed some aspects of the podcast that could be more inclusive. As a Gen Z listener, it’s disheartening to hear jabs at my generation from Greg, who seems to have a particular view on today’s youth. While generational differences are natural, it’s important for a podcast to be mindful of its audience’s diversity. Living outside California, I sometimes feel that Jackie and Greg’s references to their experiences in the state and their frequent visits to classic movie theaters create a sense of exclusivity. Their occasional comments on politics, religion, and capitalism can also seem out of place and potentially alienate listeners with differing views. Sometimes they are not great at criticizing a movie. I’ve listened to their episode of “The Wild Bunch” many times, and I still don’t fully understand what their issue is with that movie. There are strange parts like in their “Pather Panchali” episode where they said that if you don’t like “Pather Panchali,” then there’s something wrong with you. I would never say that to another human being. Plus, if you’re someone like me, who really struggled with the Apu Trilogy, it just makes you feel bad and not want to revisit the movie again. I don’t want to force myself to like a movie that other people like. Their attitudes just come off as a little gatekeeping. I’ve shown my parents many old classics, and it usually ends with them saying it’s slow and nothing is happening. It’s just something I’ve had to deal with and that’s fine; I’m not going to be mad at them for it. Greg also seems to really dislike Film Bros. I get that Film Bros analyze movies in a very surface-level way, but sometimes the other side is just as predictable, just in the complete opposite direction and I think Jackie and Greg are evident by that. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who loves Kurosawa, Ozu, and Hitchcock. But I am not going to go around and tell people that they are not real movie fans if they didn’t like a particular movie. Are Film Bros really ruining film criticism? They’re just messing around; what’s the big deal? Greg and Jackie, if you ever read this, my intention was not to trash you, I really felt the need to speak out on things that you could improve on in your podcast. I apologize if this offended you in any way. Remember, we are all movie fans, and want to learn from one another.

    Best film podcast
One of the best film review podcasts out there. Informative and fun plus great dynamic between Jackie and Greg. I loved the shout outs for I Saw the TV Glow and The Wolf House (on the most recent episode) and The Love Witch (less recently). TLW is one of my favorite films of all time

My go-to movie podcast! Jackie and Greg are a delight to listen to and bring so much enthusiasm, humor, and rich insight for the films they’re discussing. Listening to their show has helped me add a lot more films to my watchlist and grow in my understanding of the art of filmmaking. I get giddy each week when a new episode is dropping. My absolute favorite podcast
Seeing that Greg and Jackie have dropped a new podcast is one of the true highlights of my week. They are such great hosts and personalities, and have added much joy to much journey through the S&S 250 list. I wish Greg were a bit nicer to Godard, but c’est la vie. Thanks for all your hard work J&G! Your friend Marshall

Come for the movies! Stay for the hosts!
We’ve all been there: we have finally found movies that we want to hear talked about and the hosts ruin the whole thing. Not the case here! Greg and Jackie are amazing and they bounce off each other really well and they make it worth listening. A Mike Nichols and Elaine May duo in the making.

    Shrill voice
The woman's voice is very shrill and piercing. Hard podcast to listen to.

    Too bad
The movie choices are great but: Woman has very loud voice. Very loud and grating. Man laughs too much. Conversational tone would be so appreciated.

    The best film podcast!
Scene and Heard is anything but a boring or uninspired film podcast. There’s humor and quirk with an equal balance of heart and passion in Greg and Jackie’s conversation. There is such a deep level of admiration and appreciation that it’s very easy to listen to while also being thought-provoking. 10 out of 10 for Scene and Heard!

This podcast is SO pleasant. Greg and Jackie strike the perfect balance: their conversations are insightful, they provide important historical context and interesting facts while keeping it fun and honest. I loved in particular their Robert Reed Altman Nashville episode - a great interview with great stories from Robert. Highly recommend for film lovers everywhere!

    Film Lovers delight
Fantastic work being done by Greg and Jackie to really illuminate some of the best films ever produced. You can really tell how passionate they are not just for the films themselves but the art of filmmaking and of film criticism. Using Sight and Sounds list of the best films gives them a unique body of work that doesn’t just inhabit the Western canon. I highly recommend this for cinephiles as well as those just getting into films.
