KoraOMehI listened to all the show up to date. I was left very underwhelmed. I “wanted” to enjoy the story but it was slow and dragged. Alot of “build up” (if you can call it that) for pretty much nothing in the “end” . The S1 finale was so mid that i literally didn’t realize it was the actual season finale. Idk i’m 38 and none of the characters were relatable but other reviewers who say they are older of age seemed to enjoy it!

monique schulzTo LP-LittleAs a 52 yo f who does not feel old, i took this as a portrayal of a man judged by his age using his life experiences (the type only achieved via age) to become a hero type. Great show.

Shimmy MooreLove thisAbsolutely love this honestly, I’m a big podcast but especially immersive audio I’m very picky but honestly, if you like a good storyline, that’s creative that keeps you wanting more. This is definitely it. I hope to hear more immersive audio stuff by you guys and I can’t wait for the next episode by that five star.

JohnnyStrifeIt was awesomeuntil the nonbinary they/them showed up. Sick of it in real life; don’t want to hear about it in my fiction.
-
Trucker bingeWokeGood story gets turned into a them they production. Social media introduced this non binary garbage and everything else is jumping on it. Shoving it down throats. Not against lgbtq but non binary is a wake up call that foreign media provoked to cancer our culture.

reasonablyindepentDeath by wokenessYet again a decent podcast is killed by its woke creators. This show literally turns into — “what pronouns should we use when talking about the people with alien consciousnesses residing in their brains,? We don’t want to be insensitive.” I’m not even making that up that it the entire plot of episode two. It’s like - just write a good story, stop shoving this nonsense down our throats we’re sick of it!

Sloan godAmazing Concept Executed PerfectlyThe pain and chaos of this story is perfectly portrayed. I’m so happy Midnight Burger recommended it.

RemoteraidlimitstinksWorth ItI love a good sci-fi audio drama and Give Me Away didn’t disappoint. Great sound quality and voice acting with a story that kept me intrigued. Hopefully there will be a season 2 because I’d love the chance to listen to more episodes.

Dr. Sonnetgirl64Beautiful storytellingI could probably gush about this show for a long time because it is so amazing. Give Me Away is one of the most brilliant examples of audio story telling that I have ever heard. They embody the writer’s maxim “show not tell” to the core. I absolutely love how they almost trust the listener to put together the different pieces of the world because they don’t feed the listener excessive exposition. The narrative element is really strong, and I hope that we get to see more!

LP-littleALoving it but…I am completely enjoying this podcast, however as someone in their upper 40s who still considers themselves “young” it irks me how someone in their early 50s is referred to as “grandpa” in the podcast and continually referred to as old. I don’t consider this age old.

GoodPointeGets In Your HeadGive Me Away is a tremendous new work of cinematic Audio Fiction from Gideon Media. As he’s shown before with Steal the Stars and LifeAfter, Mac Rogers has an innate ability to explore complex science fiction concepts with incredibly accessible and well written characters. From a pacing perspective there’s a lot going on in the story, but it never feels like too much. I was fully invested before the end of the first episode. The quality of this Audio Drama is right up there with anything else being made today.

~ Violet ~RelationshipsMac Rogers / Gideon Media with another show about relationships. Listeners are dropped right into the action without explanation, demonstrating Roger’s facility with the medium: the show takes more words to describe than are spoken into listeners’ ears. It’s a show that finds ways to turn inner monologues into dialog, and takes audience into uncomfortable proximity of big characters, toying with the forced intimacy of podcasts, right on the edge of verbal slapstick exaggerations, and also has that one necessarily audio component (that’s not a tape recorder!). We get to know more than we might want to, in this case via frank discussions about bodily functions, the painful rearrangements of human relationships, as well as our relationship with our government, military, and environment. Just when you’ve had enough of a worn out marriage & some crass heteronormative dating scenes, you’re in negotiations for new kinds partnerships and pluralities. Everyone is always managing everyone else for dramatic tension and plot, and everyone is equally important for meaning. SciFi Audio Drama at its best — the kind that’s solving problems.

gumbochef7Four thumbs upSo good, so human, great performances and production values. And like all of this writer’s work, it’s about much more than what you think it’s about.

FreemanSWTo no one’s surprise …A Gideon Media podcast is fantastic. Acting and production all top notch, compelling conundrums in the tradition of great sci-fi, a bingeable story. Can’t wait to see how it ends!

kquak5 star sci-fi audio dramaI’m a audio fiction/sci-fi enthusiast, with some pretty high standards, and I loved this! Well done and worth a listen. Trust me.

DwmcguffDepression as Sci-fi“We are all dying to give our lives away to something, maybe. God or Satan, politics or grammar, topology or philately - the object seemed incidental to this will to give ourselves away, utterly. To games or needles, to some other person. Something pathetic about it. A flight-from in the form of a plunging-into. Flight from exactly what? These rooms, blandly filled with excrement and heat? To what purpose?” David Foster Wallace, Infinite Jest Mac Rogers uses scifi not just to examine big questions about society, but big existential questions about ourselves. Our morality, our happiness, our ability to love and be loved back. Whether it’s in brilliant series like this, his other series Life/After, Steal the Stars, or with his plays like The Honeycomb Trilogy—they all plumb the depths of their characters in unique, insightful, and surprising ways as every character and every decision grows more thorny and complicated. Compelling listening.

Fire killLove itI actually really took away a lot from the pronoun discussion coming from the south. I hope I’ll be able to make someone else a bit more comfortable

osciebug:)Great start! Can’t wait for morePerformances and writing are great. Right amount of foley to set the scene, but not to the point of being camp (which a lot of podcast dramas do). Looking forward to seeing what happens next! Great work, Gideon Media.
