    Thank you
Your podcast is amazing- such a beautiful, peaceful voice and the stories are wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you šŸ˜“šŸ˜“šŸ˜“

    Ruined by the Ads
This podcast was perfect. The host had a soothing voice and the stories were easy to get lost in. But apparently enough people started listening that they thought they should milk some money out of it. Now the ads are so loud and jarring compared to the rest of the episode that itā€™s impossible to fall asleep to. Yet another sleep podcast thats shunted itā€™s fanbase for some sponsor dollars. A complete disappointment. I hope you can sleep better at night than I can now that this podcast has been ruined

    AMAZING
This podcast is so GOOD! I absolutely love this podcast so much! Please make a new episode of this podcast pretty please!

    Fabulous
Absolutely wonderful! Great to help me fall asleep almost immediately. I hardly hear any of the stories so I also listen during the day. Elizabethā€™s readings are amazing. Her ability to voice the characters bring the stories alive, while at the same time is so soothing.

    Love this show!!
This show is amazing. The book choices are good, and Elizabethā€™s soothing voice sends me to sleep in seconds. The ads at the beginning are no problem, just fast forward a few minutes! Recommended reads: the rest of the Anne of Green Gables series

Best podcast ever for relaxing, falling asleep
The Sleepy Bookshelf is my favorite of the many podcasts Iā€™ve tried to help fall asleep. Elizabethā€™s voice is incredibly beautiful and soothing. Itā€™s so easy to drift off listening to her read. I love listening to many of the classic books but Iā€™ve especially enjoyed ā€œVilletteā€and other LM Montgomery books. Sometimes it takes me forever to finish because I fall asleep so quickly I have to listen several times before coming to the conclusion. Your podcast has helped me through many otherwise sleepless nights. Highly recommended and very much appreciated!

    One of my favorites!
This is one of my favorite podcasts! It would be my most favorite but some of the stories are so old that I lose track of what they are talking about. I love Elizabethā€™s voice! She does a phenomenal job reading!

    The ads are ruining it
This was my favorite podcast but the ads are so loud and obnoxious, I donā€™t enjoy listening. I understand ads are necessary but the ads that play are not the right vibe for sleep, they jolt you awake with your heart racing.

    Villette
The best book yet! The best podcast there is. Donā€™t miss it!

    Love this
This I have followed, it helps calm down

    Please fix Vilette ep 34!
Itā€™s literally just the intro and ads and nothing else?!

I loved this story so much, I went to the library and finished reading it this past weekend.

    Best Bedtime Stories
The cadence, the soothing tone of her voice, the stories and manageable ads make this my favorite/must listen to podcast before bed. The ads are front loaded, so you are good-to-go after quickly skipping through. No need to worry about random ads popping up at intense volume levels. Thank you for that. Recommended reads: anything by Judy Blume or Lonesome Dove. Mix it up.

    Awesome awesome awesome!
I have no idea how Elizabeth manages to perfectly render the voice of Lucyā€”while also masterfully rendering the voices of completely different characters, such as Dr. John, Dr. Johnā€™s mother, Ginevra Fanshawe, Madame Beck, and many others. She does such an amazing job, itā€™s like Iā€™m there, I can see the characters, particularly Dr. John. How does Elizabeth portray both women AND men? I have no idea, but I am grateful to have these stories, as they are enriching my life. I appreciate that she chooses truly excellent literature. My only issue is that the stories are so good and her reading so good, that if I have to get up early the next day, I canā€™t listen to them, because is possible I might try to stay awake so I can hear till the end of the episodeā€”and then maybe stay awake through another! But this is a good problem to have! I now look forward to bedtime, whereas I used to dread it, because I dreaded a recurrent, agonizing wakefulness.

Great for going to sleep - This is a real winner!
Elizabethā€™s voice and cadence are really good! I would not have thought that somewhat scary stories lime The Hound of the Baskervilles would be a good go to sleep story but she makes it a great one! I often have to replay the second half of episodes because I dozed off in the middle. I also like that she has new episodes every 2-3 days so you don't have to wait a week for the next episode.

    Asleep in minutes
Iā€™ve yet to make it through more than a few minutes of any book on this podcast. It puts me to sleep so fast.

    Loud Ads Ruin Experience
I have listened to and loved this podcast for about two years and recommended it to everyone I know. I hate to have to give such a low rating, but the loud ads at the beginning of the episode are a complete turn off for me. To go from Elizabethā€™s soothing voice to the super loud advertisements is jarring and throws off the whole listening experience. I understand that ads are necessary for the free version of the podcast, but if thereā€™s a way for them to be read in Elizabethā€™s voice, which was done in earlier episodes, that would be much better. Until then, Iā€™ll have to find another podcast to help me fall asleep at night.

    Wonderful Podcast but Loud Ads
I absolutely love this podcast. The book selections and the narrator are wonderful. I get that ads are necessary for the free version of the pod, but theyā€™re SOOOOOO LOUD šŸ˜£šŸ˜£šŸ˜£. Itā€™s very startling when youā€™re listening to more than one and just getting to sleep.

    Ads!!
It used to be my favorite but the ads are so loud they startle me awake. Ughhhh!
  • JanaZhu77
Love it but u gonna admit the irony here
If itā€™s a bookshelf and reading a book to you, you are supposed to listen through the book right? Then itā€™s sleepy bookshelf and they have done such a good job and I fall asleep so fast. You gonna admit the irony here and laugh about it! Hahah donā€™t get me wrong I love this show. Just there goes my wish to maybe listen to a bit more books hhh
  • AJaxc
    Oh my!
I love this podcast! It always does the trick when I canā€™t sleep! Your voices on the Anne stories are incredible. I have listened to each over and over! 5 stars for quality I was sad the last little bit when third party ads returned to would startle me back awake. Totally get the need but their tone doesnā€™t match the show. Maybe do like Get Sleepy and read the ads in your beautiful voice! šŸ˜Š Win/win.
  • GracieLou10
They added ads & they are LOUD!
I used to enjoy listening to this podcast. The host has such a soothing/calming voice. I hadn't listened for a bit & just came back to it. What an unpleasant surprise to find out that there are now extremely loud ads at the beginning. It is a very unpleasant jolt & ruins the experience. If they want to generate income on their podcast it would be better if the host read them herself in the same tone & at the same volume as the rest of the episode.
  • SusanC89
    Lovvvvee this podcast!
Itā€™s so hard to find something to sleep to. I used to listen to Get Sleepy but most of their content is paid. Other podcasts have too many ads or just are designed for sleep. Iā€™ve never made it through an entire episode of this podcast before falling asleep! Love this so much. Instead of waking up in the middle of the night and tossing and turning for an hour or two, as soon as I wake up, I just grab my headphones and started episode and Iā€™m out within 20 minutes or so. Often times less. Perfect!

    best sleep story podcast EVER!!
i struggle with insomnia and have a very hard time falling and staying asleep. this podcast has kept me sound asleep for hours as i get my desired sleep. from the amazing stories, to the amazing narratorā€” itā€™s all so satisfying!!! i definitely recommend this podcast if you need something good to listen / sleep to!

    Poo Encore šŸÆ šŸ»
Please please continue narrating the wonderful world of Winnie the Poo! The original story was read so perfectlyā€” we need more more more!! Poo and friends are my only prescription for sleep because theyā€™re both captivating and mindless at once. Your voices are brilliant, especially Edward Bearsā€™ because heā€™s so growly and sweet and simpleā€¦ just the best bedtime bear in world history. I must agree with the other reviewer: some of the longer volumes can be a little onerous in subject matterā€” incredible works no doubt, but personally iā€™m looking to escape the world of petty human affairs before sleep, or at least funnel their behaviors into quirky talking animals to create some distance, if that makes sense.

    Love the pod BUT
Diehard listener, to the point where I downloaded episodes to listen to while I camped in the wilderness, BUT I have to say I am a bit bummed with this new 39 part story. As someone who listens nightly Iā€™ve always appreciated how quickly the stories are switched out especially if I am not loving the current pick. Not to harsh anyoneā€™s mellow but Villette is just not my bag, Iā€™m more of a Little Mouse girl šŸ and I canā€™t say Iā€™m stoked for the next month or so being constrained to re-listens. Long form story lovers live laugh and love on but a gentle suggestion for the future, if you could splice up those longer listens with a short story now and again it would be mightly welcomed. Thatā€™s all! šŸ sweet dreams friends and foes

    Loud Ads Ruin the Experience
I initially rated this podcast one star after they experimented with third-party ads. Although I donā€™t want to say 100% theyā€™re gone for good, I have picked the podcast back up and havenā€™t had an issue with any loud ads. Elizabethā€™s voice is perfect for these stories and I LOVE the unique addition of recapping the last episode so I donā€™t miss any important plot lines. As long as they donā€™t reintroduce the ad issue, I will continue to be a long-term listener.

    Canā€™t stay awake
First off, I think the horrible loud obnoxious ads are gone, so thank you and Iā€™ll give you 5 stars, becauseā€¦I have to get up for work super early so when I wake up @ 1 or 2 am, I get really anxious to get back to sleep. I was really struggling. Then, I tried the Sleepy Bookshelf and I get pulled back to sleep so fast. I think I barely make it through the intro. Iā€™ve now listened to every episode Pride and Prejudice and read the book, listening to Jane Eyre and reading the book. The point is that listening to Elisabethā€™s calm voice puts me right to sleep! Feels like a very natural way to get a good nightā€™s sleep. Thank you
  • Mitsuko1889
    I am stunned!
Iā€™m not here to sleep but to crack on more classical literature while I work or sew. I do up the recording speed, but even then the hostā€™s voice is so soothing and calming. Itā€™s quite the experience and I feel I could listen for hours! Listening to Flower Fables now, but started to follow very happy to listen to more.

    Wonderfully voiced and presented
Really liking the vibes here. An extremely minimal and muffled soundtrack works great in Tandon with the expert narration. Elizabeth has a voice like British honey and reads at a good and sleepy pace. Best sleepcast since the original oneā€” sleep with me podcast. But Scooter at SWM is much more conscientious about editing out anything that might jar the listener awake. For instance, the Alice and Wonderland series left in the baby thrown around the room, a burning house and mentions of murderous violence. Mild in the state of the world today but still could do without as I try to drift off. When the makers fix that aspect, this snoozefest will be a complete home run and real game changer for insomniacs everywhere

    Favorite Way to Fall Asleep!
Sometimes my mind is too busy for falling asleep to mere white noise. This podcast is exactly what I need. It reads stories aloud, so it occupies my mind, but itā€™s read slowly and gently, which makes me sleepy. I never finish an entire episode before falling asleep. I also like that the narrator summarizes where she left off at the beginning of each episode.
  • cocosgoods
    Loud ads are awful!
The sleepy bookshelf has been my go to sleep podcast for years. Until now. The loud ads inserted at the beginning of every episode are ridiculous. I stopped listening to other sleep podcasts because of the same thing. Time to find a new go to ā˜¹ļø
  • fjekcen
    Please no more loud ads
Canā€™t you just read the ads unobtrusively instead of playing the loud commercially produced ads and waking us up, thus defeating the whole ostensible purpose of this podcast?
  • I. C Weiner
Loud, jarring ads at the start of each episode
This used to be my go-to podcast every night but not anymore. Why on earth would they ruin such a great podcast by putting LOUD ads right at the beginning of each episode??? I get it, ad reads are important for funding but this completely defeats the purpose of having a podcast dedicated to helping listeners fall and stay asleep. Iā€™m unsubscribing and I doubt Iā€™ll risk a listen again
  • lovemation
    Suddenly there are loud ads?
Jolted out of a deep sleep by a loud obnoxious ad that wasnā€™t there before? You just lost a longtime fan. Adding in loud, annoying ads to a sleep app where there were none before is cruel. No one buys anything from a podcast advertiser that interrupts a sleep app. You could have added quiet ads. You could use patreon. Greed is ugly, and now so is this podcast.
  • DeedeeB.
    A real gem!
I have loved falling asleep listening to Elizabeth reading Pride and Prejudice! Please keep on reading!

    LOUD ads
There are LOUD ads at the end of each episode. I assume this is a tactic to get you to pay. Yes, this podcast puts me to sleep. Itā€™s great for that, in fact! But it is so sudden and startling when the ads begin at the end. I never sleep through it. Totally useless unless you like to sleep for about 20 minutes before being startled awake. Iā€™d consider paying, but at this point Iā€™m annoyed to the point of just finding a different podcast.
  • Mamalikestequila
    So relaxing
This podcast replaced by 75 dollar per year calm membership and I have to say I sleep great. Her voice is calm and cadence lulling you to sleep is nearly automatic. Eric Satie music also triggers me to drop off, highly recommend!!!

    I love this
My go-to listening to fall asleep, almost nightly now. I only get maybe 10 mins in and I usually have such a hard time falling asleep typically takes me an hour. The voice, the slow reading, the music, and the way itā€™s read is perfect and Iā€™ve heard others try but this is just by far the best one. Please continue to record new stories.
  • Christine19
    A Jane Austen Story?
The story choices are wonderful, your voice is so relaxing. Iā€™ll suggest a Jane Austen story

    The best ever narrator
The Sleepy Bookshelf is one of my all time favorite podcasts. I listen almost every night as Iā€™m going to sleep to the voice of the narrator, Elizabeth Grace, which is superbly divine, unbelievably skillful, nurturing, comforting and melodic. I am very picky about narrators as I have found their skill level makes or breaks a story. As far as Iā€™m concerned Elizabeth is a top notch narrator who brings characters so alive and real that I feel as if I have a personal relationship with each of them and donā€™t want the stories to ever end because I will so miss them! My favorite stories have been Enchanted April and the series of novels by Lucy Maud Montgomery starting with Ann of Green Gables. Being an adult woman I havenā€™t enjoyed the fairy tales (Although I tried them). I just finished the last of the Lucy Maud Montgomery series and want more! Iā€™m hoping Elizabeth reads ALL of the books from that series! And Elizabeth, if youā€™re reading this review Thank you for ALL you put into these books. You obviously put your whole self into the stories and seem to actually become the characters. If you read more of Lucy Maud Montgomeryā€™s book I will listen to every single one of them. I wonā€™t even promise as I wonā€™t need to since I wonā€™t be able to keep myself from them!

    Outstanding!
The real star of The Sleepy Bookshelf is Elizabeth Grace and her mesmerizing, soft, enchanting, voice ! It is my security blanket! I listen at least 4 times a week. The variety of audiobooks and short stories are certainly diverse and appealing to most . My all time favorite, so far, had been ā€œThe Enchanted Aprilā€. Thank you Elizabeth for helping me get a good night sleep. Karen OConnell

    Knocked Out
Elizabethā€™s voice is so soothing that my partner is usually asleep before the end of the recap of the previous episode. Iā€™m asleep shortly after. She has set the standard we judge sleep stories by and so far no one else has been able to beat the Sleepy Bookshelf.

    Canā€™t understand the words
I want to like this podcast, but it is hard to listen to. The speakerā€™s voice is deep, and she has a heavy accent that as an American, I find hard to understand. I have to turn up the volume too loud in order to make out the words. This defeats the purpose of a podcast that is supposed to help you go to sleep. If it werenā€™t for that, I would really enjoy this podcast. I donā€™t have this issue with any other podcast.
  • ErinnBea
    Wonderful
I love listening to audio books at bedtime but often the readers will startle you with loud outbursts. The sleepy bookshelf reader never does this and yet keeps all the perfect inflections, emotions and character voices. As someone that struggles with sleep discovering this podcast is a wonderful gift. The reader is so talented and really lets you escape into the books and relax.
