    So, Weā€™re Best Friends Now?
What a beautiful crew of human beings! I always relate to so many things discussed on this pod because of our shared evangelical experiences. Unpacking all of that with these guys makes me feel less alone, and I appreciate their honesty and vulnerability as theyā€™re often reliving trauma in real time just to help the rest of us process the same things. Also, the amount of research Chaz does for each episode/series is astounding and Iā€™ve learned so much more about topics I already thought I knew.

    Relateable
I love your personal stories about growing up in the evangelical culture of the 80ā€™s and 90ā€™s. Itā€™s a light in what was a very isolated place in my life and extremely relatable. My grandma was former Assemblies of God and she was a nut to me as a kid.

    Love it but grrr
Listening to the 3rd Grade ep, and really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. Except Superman is not boring. Batman and his ā€œsmarter than everyone always outsmarting everyone smartest tells others how to use their powers cuz heā€™s smartest smartest smartestā€ is boring.

    I donā€™t feel alone anymore
Thank you all so much for what you do. I felt alone for so long because no one really knows all the nuance in the fundy religion I grew up in. The Carman episodes were some of my favorites as he was a household staple for us as kids.

So just found this podcast like 4 weeks ago.
Upon finding this show I stumbled upon the Pat Robertson episodes. As I typed this review I just found out he is dead. Rejoice rejoice you godless sodomites! Thank you all for this amazing podcast it is helping me recover from this trauma. The dark humor really helps keep it going. Also, if you could give me a shoutout on the show by bringing up the group called the Church of Christ, I just exited this group and am feeling very isolated and would love to hear you alls thoughts on exiting and background on the church of Christ so other people can know they are not alone in this madness. Again thank you all!

    Informative, Relatable, and Compassionate
I miss so many people hadnā€™t been hurt by evangelical Christianity, but Iā€™m glad people are talking and exposing it. Great writing, love the hosts, well worth listening!

    Good stuff!
Yeah, Iā€™m giving my own podcast 5 stars!? People have done more for less.

Godā€™s mercy is for all. We all need Godā€™s Son. Not Carmen
Sad for you that one day you will stand before the very one you mocked. what an opportunity to be able to share Godā€™s love with the world but instead you chose too make fun the very one who wants you too become his child. Because you looked at man and not the one who made the man. The one who could set you free from anger that you have toward God. I am so thankful that it is not you that I would have to depend on for mercy. May you all find out Godā€™s truth is not yours. Hearing you on your podcast at first I got angry than I had compassion. (Jesus is lord) whether we believe it or not! He will be here soon. We all have to repent! Jesus saved my soul when I was angry at him. It is definitely obvious. You are angry! Jesus can handle your anger. Romans 5:8

    Excellent content butā€¦
5 stars because I love any podcast pulling the curtain and revealing the ā€œwizardā€. But itā€™s a little difficult to listen to. There is one host who seems to write everything and the others just show up and read from it? I just donā€™t understand the dynamic because only one host consistently delivers actual content and the other 2 react. The impressions are okay if not cringey and I want to listen to the actual discussion but it doesnā€™t ever feel as deeply understood by all the hosts.

    That Bastard James Dobson!
Wowā€”this episode explained so much about my childhood. Thank you for helping me connect the dots and heal. You guys nail it every episode. Also your Pat Robertson impression kills me!

So nice to not feel alone!
I knew from such a young age that the way I was raised was messed up beeeeyond. This podcast is so helpful for me to know Iā€™m not alone in dealing with this! This podcast is like a true crime podcast for exvangelicals. The illumination of all the juicy details behind phenomena like DC Talk and Pat Robertsonā€¦it just scratches such an itch. Love it.

Great for 80ā€™s and 90ā€™s kids
I love this show and the hosts! My husband often questions the messages I got from my church growing up and itā€™s so nice to hear that I wasnā€™t the only one that heard the same messed up, shaming messages that I did. Very validating, informative and entertaining.

    Needs better sound engineering
Trying to listen to the Abeka books episodes and two of the individuals are inconsistently louder than the host. I either hear them at a reasonable volume and the host is difficult to hear or the host is at a reasonable volume but the other folks are at an earsplitting volume. The subjects are very interesting and I think itā€™s important to disinfect them with exposure but the sound production is very difficult to handle.

    Iā€™m not alone
Sometimes I wonder if I imagined all the crazy, scary, culty stuff I grew up with, but this podcast, and the exvangelical community as a whole help me see through some of the gaslighting from my childhood and start to heal

    Great exvie podcast!
These three get it! They do a fantastic job explaining the weird culture of fundamentalist evangelicalism. And why so many of us left.

    Better than going to church
If there is any kind of god out there, she is very proud of this podcast. So do yourself a favor, skip church this week and go listen to the Excommunication Station instead!!!

    A Very Good Start
I can see the seed of a very enjoyable podcast planted here. All the hosts have good points and defend them well, in a series of thoughtful discussions, not just hot takes and buzz words. A very good first episode and Iā€™m looking forward to more.
