Thank God this podcast is no more
This was a gay left leaning podcast. I’m glad it’s not feeding people bias woke nonsense anymore.

    I miss this podcast!
It was so great! I miss it.

    So sad it’s over!
Thank you much, Gustavo and team! I enjoyed every moment.

    We will miss you!!!
I’m surprised & sad that this show has ended. I really enjoyed it & appreciated hearing more stories local to LA, California & the west coast. Thank you for all the great work that you did & for highlighting climate change so prominently. The masters of disasters made climate news more digestible. Gustavo- you’ll be missed! You were such a great host & improving all the time. Hope to bump into you in LA one day! 💗 gracias por todo

    There goes my morning!
I have been waking up to this podcast for a long time and will truly miss Gustavo and the other fine journalists who put together such a great and informative show. I will miss it dearly! I’m proud to subscribe to such great journalists and have kept it up even after moving out of CA. Looking forward to all the other great podcasts but this one will be missed!

    Devastated it ended
Was bee hopping along today, listening to the last episode, though I didn’t know it at the time. Until, it was announced this show, as we know it, is ending. Tears. Real tears. I can’t imagine not having Gustavo be a part of my daily, hot girl walk. I really hope this is repurposed into something amazing. I’m an avid listener to one other news podcast but the LA Times always gave me news from a broader perspective (Latinx, indigenous, climate). Perspectives I don’t hear elsewhere as a person living in the South. Thanks for all the amazing episodes. Looking forward to what’s next.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
HOW/WHY CANCEL THIS SHOW?! This podcast brought the LA Times to people around the world! Of all the shows that have recently announced cancellation, this upsets me the most. It was so informative and well-rounded! So many issues brought to the front via fantastic journalism. What a crying shame and potentially horrible business decision. Seeing this platform become increasingly filled with garbage reality sensationalism crap while quality journalism like the LA Times is phased out does not bode well for our immediate future. Where will I get all the news “…in this madre”? Thank you, Gustavo! Bravo, sir! You have my standing ovation. Find a way to reach us again, please. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🥲🥲🥲👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    Great journalism!!
The Colorado River series has been amazing. I appreciate the fair coverage on all side of this very important conversation. Plus the other stories have me digging deeper into topics I didn’t even know about. Also, the length of the podcast, at least for me, fits in that sweet spot of not too long! Highly recommend podcast.

    Needs Work
California is a huge state with so many stories to cover. Instead this podcast often focused on national, and sometimes international, stories that are covered extensively by both the NYT Daily and so many others. We need more local journalism and that’s where I think this podcast will find more success by diving into those stories. I don’t pay for a subscription to learn about what’s happening in other parts of the country. I want to learn more about what happens in LA, the second largest metropolitan area in the country.

    Refreshing
    Love the podcast
  • cw_pdx
Bordering on too much identity-based reporting
The V1 of this show, when it focused on stories that affected all Californians and that didn’t receive national attention, was great. Virtually all shows now focus on a story through an identity lens, even when the relationship - of whatever is being covered - to (especially racial/gender) identity is questionable. Also, the Simply Safe read…I have to skip through this ad every, single, time. The way the person reading it misarticulates the ‘s’ sound and - especially with a brand called “SimplySafe” - its become unbearable, truly.
  • Jina loves this podcast!
    Best News Podcast
The Times podcast is always interesting and relevant. The stories are well researched and crafted, and the host is intelligent and charming. There are so many news podcasts that it’s hard to tell them apart, but The Times holds a special place because of the stories they cover — which most often than not — are not covered anywhere else, and the perspective the host brings. While many podcasts try to cover the same big national stories, The Times is not afraid to bring an LA focused approach to journalism. Do not let the racism in some of the reviews discourage you from listening to this gem!
  • Vietcent
    Great value The Daily
Tries too much to format itself as The Daily from NYT. a successful formula, but something I want to hear less of.
  • forthwrite
    Arellano, si! Advertising blitz, no!
3 repetitive, minute-long advertising breaks in a 24-minute podcast? Too much. Alternative ad-free premium with meager benefits? To quote Snoopy: BLEAH!!
  • BKlistener
    Horrible ads
The show is OK after about a year, but they have a bad habit of getting conservatives to advertise, including Rick Caruso, Bari Weiss, and Megyn Kelly. These are objectively loathsome people. Do better, LA Times.
  • beyhivefans
    Beyoncé
Just got to put this out there. If you’re a real Beyoncé fans. You would never pronounce “Bey” as “Bay”. It’s Beeeeyonce not Baaaayonce. Just saying…
  • Trail lust
    Host identity is to much!
I’m first generation Mexican and my hard working parents with little English raised their family in a upper middle class community. But they made a point to not base our achievements on our race or need to pronounce our name or others with an accent! Los Angeles is more than just us (Hispanic) that’s why I love it, and the host gives the view of one segment of this great city! He speaks of gentrification as though he lives with “the people “ like in Boyle Heights, but rather he lives in Orange County, not even LOS ANGELES.
  • Diana vc
    Very engaging with relevant stories
This podcast gives the LA Times that extra push and exposure to reach out to audiences like me, who are not used to reading or listening about the news in the traditional way. The stories hit almost every aspect of life and you never get the same news everyday. It is always something different, interesting and relevant.
  • like satie
    Not professional
Inserts too much of his personal opinion. If that’s what i want I will read the op/ed page. He tries too hard to be “relatable”. Instead he comes off as insufferable.

    Great podcast!
Great podcast! My only source on what’s going on in my city and beyond! Keep up the excellent work!

    Informative and Local
We enjoy listening to The Times Podcast, with host Gustavo Arellano, who is an excellent writer. He also does a great job hosting this current topic, often California centered show. A wide variety of things are discussed with knowledgeable guests in a low key manner that widens my understanding. Thanks for this LA Times podcast!

    Security issue
Update: I figured out that this won’t download unless I turn off VPN. I don’t have this problem with any other podcasts. I love this show but suddenly this week it won’t download. Neither will any of the other LA Times shows. Did they all change to subscription only?

Need to update for the latest ios
All podcasts come up as temporarily unavailable since the last iphone update. Won’t play in Stitcher or from the website either. Shame. Was a pretty good local news source.

    NFTs? Really LA Times?
I used to love listening to Gustavo and the podcast. But this blatant support for crypto and NFTs turned me off to the show. I really don’t think you should be able to post hard hitting stories about the downsides of NFTs and then use NFTs for a Super Bowl ad. Hopefully you all post an apology and move on.

Pure leftist propaganda. Gustavo does not have the stones to interview anyone with an opposing view

    Ghey podcast
    Totally weak and ghey
  • letsreview2020
    Consistently disappointed
I wanted to enjoy this podcast and I appreciate the topics they choose. Unfortunately they tend to oversimplify and approach complex political conversations with such an extreme left/liberal bias that they don’t really entertain the opposing view whatsoever. Gustavo seems to have made his mind up about everything before the interviews begin, and he comes across as quite arrogant as a result. I would love to hear more real data and relevant modern insight rather than quippy banter about how ignorant Californians have been in the past. For what it’s worth, I’m a Democrat, but this perspective feels closed-minded and less journalistic than I’d expect from The Times.
  • KC Costa Mesa
    Thanks Gustavo
I really enjoy this podcast thanks to its host Gustavo Arellano, he was a strong voice at the OC Weekly and I’m glad he is now with the LA Times, keep up the great WERK Gustavo.

    Love the See’s Candy episode
Living in New England now, I still order See’s Candy for myself every year. My mom worked at See’s when I was kid so I can’t remember ever not eating it! And have started gifting it to folks who’ve never heard of it too! Loved hearing you go through the flavors too!

    Good Job LA Times
This type of local news podcast was very needed. Good job LA Times for seeing the talent Gustavo Arrellano has to contribute to this new broadcast. Arrellano’s talent and craft has always been excellent, I have followed him since the OC Weekly days. Thank you
  • AmpersandPitchfork
    CA-centric
The stories are extremely unique, and CA centric. Something you don’t get from other daily new podcasts. It is very worth listening, and really sets itself apart from shows like the daily, today explained, etc.
  • FrugalMacGoose
    Great California Based Journalism
This podcast is great for local LA and wider California stories. Whereas other podcasts focus more on the international and country wide scale, I’ve found this podcast to be a great source of information on topics closer to home. I really enjoyed listening to the story about Bruce’s Beach. It would be great for this podcast to keep bringing these compelling and thought provoking pieces. Diverse stories that reflect the rich tapestry of life experience in California. Both the good and difficult stories from which we can all grow from. The host also does a great job in bringing a friendly and fun mood to the podcast. It’s what keeps me coming back daily. Keep doing what you’re doing Gustavo!

I have to ignore the host to get the information
DESPERATELY needs a different host. Mas informe, less chisme, porfa. Sorry, primo, pero bien /enfadas/.
  • Didbit
    Information vs. Opnion
Unfortunately this cast seems to be only slanted partisan rhetoric that is pushing an agenda. Great if you want a leftist opinion that points to the far right. Missing the idea of informing and skewing information vs. opinion. They want to do the thinking for you, cherry-picking information to make it fit the narrative.
  • fkutbe
News?? Lol try lies and propaganda
So when is the LA Times going to lose all access to social media for spreading misleading information on a daily basis? Literally EVERY SINGLE DAY
