Far Beyond the Stars: A Starfinder Podcast - Official Partner of Paizo

22

Live life the Edge Corp way — punch the clock, keep your head down, collect your pay. This is the day-to-day reality of working stiffs in a rough galaxy. But when the crew of the cargo freighter Calamity fails to catch break after break, their lives are turned upside down. Bad cargo, spiraling debt, and a woman’s life on the line — all with the Golden League crime syndicate breathing down their necks — it’s no surprise that these blue-collar folks get desperate enough to take ANY job. Can’t let danger, or moral compromises, get in the way of their bonus checks. So goes life…FAR BEYOND THE STARS.

    Action, Adventure, Hijinks
I enjoy listening to actual plays. Far Beyond the Stars has a special quality to it. I always can’t wait for the next episode. There is such a great mix of roleplay, action, adventure, strategy, and of course hijinks. The Galactic Mistress puts together a great game, even when the players blow up the best laid plans. You can fell the friendship around the table, like you're being let into their personal game. The variety of characters break all the molds and are unique and lovable. There are amazing roleplay moments help build all the layers of the PCs as they also evolve. This review is well overdue, 6 skittermander thumbs way up.

    Solid Audio, good roleplay
Starfinder, and many actual play podcasts suffer from poor audio quality. Not this one! The cast here do a great job with their audio and roleplay, keeping a fairly constant well placed narrative, with creative action sequences. I’d really place this up there with Glass Cannon’s Androids and Aliens in quality, but as a more roleplay and narrative focused presentation. Whereas Androids and Aliens is a lot more goofy out of character and combat focused, with some narrative moments. Characters are compelling, immersion in the setting is 10/10.

    Far Beyond the Stars
I am brand new to this kind of game playing and listening experience. My daughter turned me onto it and, to my surprise, I have found it uniquely interesting and compelling. It has opened me up to a world that I did not know. This is a well crafted podcast. Excellent narration and background support. A quiet and fun and engaging experience. This sounds like a fun group of people to spend time with. I have enjoyed it and recommend it highly. KO

Another Slam Dunk from the FWP Crew
2 years after originally finding the Fantastic Worlds Podcast, I continue to be blown away by their ever increasing quality of the content they create. Far Beyond the Stars is no exception. As always, the crew makes the games they play accessible and approachable. Abbie has taken her rightful crown as Galactic Mistress and the crew of Dustin, Heidi, Jess, and Angel seem ready to keep her on her toes. The sound and music are great. Each player brings their character to life with their wonderful descriptions. I can’t wait to hear more from the crew of the Calamity and also increase my own knowledge of the Starfinder system. Keep up the great work FWP!

    Out of this world!
Y’all, I had the bar already set high going into this podcast because this crew has shown time and time again how awesome they could be. Then they went and blew my expectations out of the water. I love the personalities and the game play. Abbie makes for a perfect galactic mistress. I’m already obsessed with Seren and zir voice patterns. I cannot wait for the next episode!!

    Absolutely slaps
An excellent start to a really fun, queer, Firefly-esque space opera! Love the rapport between all the cast members and the wonderful characters they play

    A great AP
Full disclosure: I’m one of the hosts. I do want to share what a great AP this is. Blue collar adventure in the vastness of space with rough decisions to make. I end up biting my nails wondering what impact our choices make. In for a penny, in for a pound. Kudos to the pazio team and much love to my fellow co-hosts. Besitos!

    I’m living for this fantasy
I am a huge fan of the space sci-fi genre. The ships, the tech...the hot aliens. I love the story you folks bring to life for my ear holes. You really make the characters come to life. I can tell you all have fun playing. That is a big selling point for me too. Amazing chemistry.

What a great listen! This is a space opera of the highest form, my only complaint is they should of released the next episode already!

The Queer Space Opera We Need
Have you ever thought to yourself "Firefly is great, but it would be better if it were way more queer"? If so, this is the podcast for you! I have been listening to the FWP crew's podcasts for years now, and they bring their friendliness, quirkiness, sincerity, and beautiful characters to this new show just like they do with every other show they make. I have been eagerly awaiting this release for months, and I am not disappointed. I was immediately interested in the ragtag crew and their stories, and I can't wait to learn more about them and the world they're navigating. Let the hijinks begin!

    New and wonderful!
From the great improvisers at Fantastic Worlds comes another excellent podcast, this time in space! These five friends create a lovely inclusive podcast where they explore the reaches of the universe and deliver goods like any proper delivery people (or robots, as the case may be). Building on all of their experience running Pathfinder podcasts, the FWP team is delivering up a great new podcast with first-rate sound quality and Abbie is having a blast (despite her cursed dice) as the Galactic Mistress (GM). Everyone should listen to this if you enjoyed Firefly, Futurama, Star Wars, or anything similar!

    Space Shenanigans Done Right
It’s no secret that these peeps have chemistry. It oozes from the very first instance the members of the Fantastic Worlds Productions finally get a chance to interact with one another. This is a really good introduction to what I know will be a wild ride. I can’t wait to fall in love with these characters and watch them grow. They better not break my heart! Highly recommended to anyone who loves TTRPGS, space, or just dang good storytelling. P.S. I am in LOVE with Jambot!

    Amazing!
Action, drama, queerness, FBtS has it all. A wonderful, fun listen

    Best Space themed actual play!
I have listened to a lot of space-themed actual play podcasts and they always seem to be missing something. They don’t necessarily feel loved in, or have a hard time humanizing their characters or the world they live in. The Calamity Crew does what they do best in all their shows, bring the characters down to earth, all the while inhabiting in the magical area the exist in, even as far away as far flung space. This show is great, I highly recommend!
