    Yellow Journalism
While this show had moments of fascination and great shows, it mostly resorts to yellow journalism and rage bait. True crime is something that can bring to light the plight of victims the failings of the criminal justice system to both victims and suspects , but this podcast fails at both. In more than one podcast they have spoken about the plight of SA victims and cases brought and declined by a prosecutors office and how these victims are being failed. However they leave out the nuance of a skilled investigator or prosecutor. What they bring is social justice warriors without the understanding of real justice. In their story of the native hovels in New Mexico they talk about how something like 2/3s of cases are declined by the United States Attorney’s office and all those victims never receive justice. This is disingenuous at best and malicious at worst. Using their figure of 1000 reporting victims. Some percentage will be true victims, some will be liars and some cases you have real victims without enough evidence to proceed. In the case of the later it is better to defer the case until you have enough evidence rather than ruining the chance of the perpetrator never being held accountable. In the case of people who lie about being victims this shouldn’t be overlooked as this podcast does because it disadvantages all victims Mostly this show uses superlatives and rage bait as opposed to actual investigative journalism to enrich themselves on the backs of others misery

One of my top 3 faves
This podcast quickly became one of my top 3 faves. Interesting and accurately detailed stories, no unnecessary or annoying side conversations, no unwarranted or unwanted personal opinions or political views. Just good story telling of true crime.

    Good
I like it but I only liked on episode 200 Jerry bell serial killer
  • Matt_B_W
Stopped listening due to hostess’ annoying fake pronunciation.
Why do so many podcasters feel they need a “trademark” voice? Her contrived, cartoonish child’s voice makes listening for long impossible. What’s with the fake “r” pronunciation?

    New Fav
I have been an avid true crime podcast listener and documentary enthusiast for years. I’m new to this podcast and have listened to 8-9 episodes thus far. I really enjoy the thorough research, respectful storytelling, and non-bias reporting. Many true crime podcasts have become filled with giggling and banter, which feels disrespectful to the victims and their families. This podcast is told in a respectful manor without the personal anecdotes and “chatter” when discussing horrific tragedies. Will definitely recommend to others and continue to listen!

    It’s okay
For the most part, I’m alright with the podcast. I enjoy that the show goes over more current cases, offering a lot of fresh content. There seems to be a lot of good research that goes into the episodes, some great investigative reporting. The sound effects can offer an immersive quality, but they can sometimes come off as cheesy. Unfortunately though, the narration is far too flat. Then, the parts that address the listener directly, they come off in an almost preachy way. There is also a lot of repetition, which I find odd given that it’s scripted narration. I’d like it if they’d at some point try to do a few episodes where they spoke about the topic with each other rather than scripted out.

Love love love! Great storytelling and amazing voices!
I’ve never really been into podcasts until this was recommended to me by a friend. I am a big fan of true crime and I’ve gotta say Courtney and Colin are the best storytellers. They really go into depth and bring you into the story. They are very respectful and mindful to the victims they discuss. Also they have great voices. I literally wait by my phone for new episodes every Friday. Keep up the good work yall!

    RESEARCHED, HONEST & UNCENSORED
I try to never have expectations when starting a new podcast, because most of them are grossly overrated. BUT Murder in America is FAR from overrated. You can tell right off that Colin and Courtney do massive amounts of research about each and every case that they cover. The cases that they cover are so detailed I feel that I am an expert on each case by the end. We’re hearing actual quotes from witnesses, perpetrators and victims. We’re hearing sound excerpts from trials, news reports and, not to mention, creepy fitting background music. Each intense, uncensored, detailed portion is presented with a warning beforehand allowing the audience to choose to listen to the details or not to listen to the details. But in a world FULL of censorship, I find the uncensored pieces of each story extremely refreshing. THANKS COLIN AND COURTNEY!

    One problem
I just started this podcast in chronological order and have to say that I find the tone-deaf, paranormal ending to be profoundly disrespectful.

    Great show
I love your show!! Your latest episode about Jessica’s family massacre was handled so thoughtfully… listening to Jessica’s 911 call was truly heartbreaking!!! Thank you for sharing her story

Phenomenal Reporting but sometimes it sounds like you’re sympathizing with the evil doer - 🤮
First, I just wanted to say that both of your voices are sooo soothing to listen too! Second, your stories are second to none as they are so thorough and put together so well!! If I were your teacher I would give you both A+++’s!!! I’ve listened to a million true crime podcasts and yours truly stands out among the very finest!! Keep up the great work!!

    My all time favorite podcast!!!
I love your content, your flow, and I especially love how brutally detailed you guys get with some of the episodes! So many podcasts leave out the disturbing parts because it’s too “triggering” but I love being triggered because it makes me feel like my life is a walk in the park and I have it all together. I hope you both continue your podcast forever because I’ve listened to almost every single episode and I can’t get enough of you guys! I especially love your voices. There’s so many podcasts I want to listen to but I just can’t tolerate the way the hosts speak or the pace. This is literally one of the only podcasts that I can listen to all day and I appreciate all the hard work you both put in to every episode!!
  • Adnamayak
    Mispronounced Words
I love the show but so many words are mispronounced, which distracts listeners, calls into question your credibility, and can be perceived as disrespectful. Today you mispronounced the Native American tribe Navajo. Instead of the correct NAA-vuh-ho, you said Nuh-VA-ho. Really?! If unsure, just ask Google how to pronounce unfamiliar words.
  • jacquimeeker
    Thank you
I love this podcast! I am often moved to tears. I am so grateful that Colin and Courtney bring attention to the cases they choose. Thank you for bringing attention to underserved communities and people of color. Thank you for the compassion, care, kindness and respect you give to the families of victims.

    Best true crime
Best true crime show ever! Very in depth and informative. I’ve listened to almost all of the episodes and I just wish there were more. Great job!!
  • Snatchy Lopez
    Illiterate Hosts
If you care enough about the people to create a podcast then learn to properly pronounce the names of the people, places and things. Then it wouldn’t be so obvious that your interest is passing and superficial.
  • ChandlersAGirl
    Great
Pretty new to the pod, found on Tik Tok, and it's really really well done. My pet peeve (weird as it is) is that Disneyland is the Happiest Place on Earth. Disney World is the most MAGICAL place on earth. I've heard you mis reference it a few times on a couple episodes now.Also- the female host sounds dehydrated on a number of episodes. The gross sounds her lips makes are indication of this

    Arizona: Emily Pike
Good stories but specifically in the latest case, there is information missing on Emily Pike’s case. Just this week has been disclosed that she was removed from her home by social services, due to an alleged report of a family member raping her. This might be the reason she struggled with mental health. The issue is, that there was never a formal investigation into this report.
  • catluverrr
    Best crime podcast out there!!
I love the balance between host thank you for covering Emily Pike!!!! I love the balance between host commentary and actual audio recordings, Courtney and Colin both have such perfect podcast host voices too! 10/10 love this podcast!!!

    Absolutely amazing
They go into extreme detail when it comes to the cases mentioned in the episodes. They use EVERY. SINGLE. Bit of info from before the crime to the aftermath. I listen to every new episode, I fall asleep to it, I listen to it while working, it’s just so horribly calming. If you’re looking for an amazing true crime podcast you’ve come to the right place.

MIA - Where facts comes out
It’s an about the unfortunates once who’s story lot of us never knew or never even imagine or watched a show about . Love you guys the stories you’ll expose in. Living in America sometimes it feels almost impossible or unbelievable but we know those things happens. Would you guys please ever do a super concentrated and verifiable fact with url link to see historically what kinda of human are mostly performing this heinous crime. In terms of following: Citizen of the country, Skin Color, Sex, Ethnicity (might be repetitive). I think the current climate of generation has a right to know this facts.

I’ve found myself intrigued by true crime podcasts. After listening to Murder In America, I’m having a *very* hard time finding any others that tell stories in such a gripping way with such detail. Kudos! 5⭐️

    Murder in America
Thank you for such a great listen! You make my work day better! I enjoy the details in all your stories. I wish there was a way to contact you about a story that is in my husband family that is very interesting.
  • Jsfriend
    One of my favorites
I love the narrators- they have great cadence which is why I love this podcast. There are a some editing issues and editorializing - (how a victim feels before being murdered is often described - (how do they know what a now deceased victim felt/thought in their last moments unless reliance is placed on the perpetrator’s view (so minus 1 ⭐️). I initially rolled my eyes when Colin tied in some paranormal perspective but it doesn’t really bother me because they are both respectful to the victim’s family & friends. I do think the intro music could be shortened.

    I love this podcast
I listen to many true crime podcast, but this one is by far my favorite.
  • Gvhbjnkf
    The stories are good but…..
I like most of the stories they cover, but Courtney should be the only one with a mic. Colin is annoying.
  • Emilyfaye83
    Love this podcast!
Was so excited to see today’s podcast was covering a local case. The Bible’s deserve to have their daughter and her best friend brought home and finally put to rest.
  • Creecree69
    Love this podcast
One of the better podcast I listen too. I love Courtney and Collins voices. It makes the podcast easy to listen too.
  • PuduKaka
    The best
Easily the best podcast ever, how they tell the stories and all the effects are top tier.
  • Existentiali
    Writing
The repeated usage of "unbeknownst", "interestingly enough", and "anyways" cheapens the otherwise interesting narrative for me. Also, implying decisions made by individuals in these stories (not during the commission of crime) is one in which they were "forced" lacks all nuance. "She was forced to move into a shelter", "he was forced to find a different job". Life happens and tough decisions must be made to adapt, sometimes resulting in a lesser standard of living. One can be forced into a car during a kidnapping, but saying someone was "forced" to sell their home for example is naive and lacks accountability imo.

    One Really Great Podcast
The stories that this couple shares is amazing! They hit all the details, they take their time with the production of their podcasts. Plus they give plenty of relatable content that involves this story they are sharing. To tell a story that is over 2hrs , most podcasters won’t do it, but Murder In America, they do it! And they do it for us!! The listeners. Thank you for everything you all do for your fans.
  • Brotaylorshere
    Love this podcast!

    Has became mid
I’ve been listening for over a year now and the production has became lazier and lazier as the episodes have progressed, it seems like they don’t listen to the final product because if they did they would notice how certain lines repeat, certain audio is cut off. It’s just the little thing that are annoying.
  • Xxxfft
    Plagiarists
They copied the “Broomstick Killer” episode from Timesuck. Certainly parts are almost word for word.
  • althibbie
    Great True Crime podcast
This podcast is one of my faves, but it needs much better editing. Putting ads in the middle of a sentence and playing whole segments twice makes it difficult to follow.
  • SueBeeHoney63
    Excellent Research
A friend sent me the link to Murder In America. Excellent researchers. Very detailed and tell the cases with respect of the victims.
  • Somethingforalways
    Lazy Editing & Vain Hosts
The editing has gotten awful on this, used to like it. Now the audio will skip, or lines will repeat. Originally when I listened to this show, it didn’t bother me that much when they would promote items or themselves but now I feel like every episode Collin is begging people to check out his other podcast or to give them reviews and when he talks about himself it’s always in a braggadocious way.
