AxureSatoriMiss this show—made worse by last episodeThis show has such an excellent history, and I’m deeply grateful for the respect (and humor) with which it approaches a topic and text that rewards deep analysis in Madonna’s music itself (not her public persona, career, etc.) The most recent episode felt like a departure, though… not sure why the conversation with your guest had to be rushed along so pointedly. Without having an episode in so long, I would have loved a willingness to have a more natural conversation that didn’t curtail some of the things he was trying to say.

ATB podcast fan!Must-listen for Madonna fansQuick, informative, and often hilarious listens that every fan of Madonna — or of pop music, really — will enjoy. Edward narrates his thoughtfully-crafted narratives with a soothing and delightfully bass-heavy radio-voice. A triumph of fandom content.

LUVCiccone5 Stars for Content, 1 Star for HostThe content of Inside the Groove is incredible and I consider it essential listening for any Madonna fan. I learn new things every episode and I’ve been a fan since True Blue! I sent Edward a few tweets about how much I liked the podcast and chimed in on discussions about it on Twitter. His responses to me (and many other fans in the thread) were condescending to the point of being rude. It really turned me off and I know it’s turned others off as well. I will still listen to the show for the content, but kindness goes a long way!

discodivadarlinTHANK YOUThis podcast is a gift for everyone - super fans, new fans, casual listeners, and maybe even curious skeptics. It’s a podcast for history lovers, dance divas, and music nerds. It’s an introduction, a continuation, a revelation. Every episode balances analysis and research with stories and a hint of gossip. Every bonus beat and guest interview adds depth and emotion and impact. You’ll giggle and gasp and google. You’ll appreciate or obsess over (or finally realize!) Madonna’s true artistry as well as her influence. And if you’re like me, you’ll remember just how absolutely free it feels inside the groove.

Todd MAn Invitation to the dance of life . . .Why did it take me so long to find this podcast?? Very entertaining and informative. I’ve been a Madonna fan since I first heard Borderline and Holiday (at the time of their release). I know some many details and little known facts and these guys are still educating me. It’s a fun show and must for any Madonna fan. Keep up the good work guys!

BRob1983It’s about the music!I recently discovered this podcast and I’m obsessed with it. As a long time Madonna fan, mostly partial to her albums before Hard Candy (1983-2006), I appreciate what you’re doing here. I was 17 when her first album came out and my friends and I could not get enough of that record back then. I feel like I grew up with Madonna’s music. This podcast is truly about the music, history of the songs and song writing process. Plus I love the way you break the song tracks apart and analyze including her vocals. As you say, Madonna was never a great vocalist, but the emotion and passion in her delivery gives life to these songs. And she’s never gotten the recognition she deserves on her song writing and melody construction. And when you add your own mix at the ending using unused studio session recordings, wow, it makes this podcast extra special. Thank you so much, I can’t wait to hear more. One question, would you ever consider doing a review/analysis of one of her entire albums? You mentioned that you became a mega-fan with 1989’s Like A Prayer. The LAP album, in my opinion, is one of the truly classic pop albums that has had a major influence on music ever since. It’s up there with other pop greats like Off The Wall, Rumors and Purple Rain. Peace and love, my friend! Barry Atlanta, GA USA

As a longtime Madonna fan I couldn’t be more grateful for such detailed insight on the music and production aspect, it’s makes the songs feel brand new again! Not to mention the episodes are masterfully put together. Amazing stuff 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

Mad4MadgeGo behind the grooveThis is a long overdue review and just want to write that for any Madonna fan who not only enjoy her music, but may be interested to dive in the creative process of her work. This is the podcast for you. There are so many information that are new to me. Her collaborations, her creative work that goes into her music and even the issues that they run into. It’s all fascinating and honestly, new to me. Thank you for doing what you do and for sharing these interesting stuff with all of us. Keep up the good work and let’s get into the groove.
-
fallcandle78Informative!Edward does a wonderful job hosting . As a lifelong fan, I really appreciate the pearls of information behind the scenes of the songs.
-
The Gay KelceInformative And EntertainingUnlike a lot of Madonna related media, this podcast mostly stays away from personal stories and focuses on the songs themselves. For anyone really interested in the formation of some of her biggest hits, this is a definite must listen. Edward is an amazing host and really knows his stuff. I look forward to each and every episode.

mremcee23An Immaculate PodcastTruly, the podcast I’ve always wanted. For fans, it’s like a dream to have someone synthesizing the backstories around the creation of one of Madonna’s songs, then analyzing the breakdown of the track and raw vocals, and even including demos when available. And for less die-hard fans, it’s an informative and exciting glimpse into some of the most famous songs of pop culture, while glimpsing into the process of an artist whose musical talents are often overlooked.

powellpAll About the MusicFascinating and informative - a must listen for Madonna fans and music lovers alike.

AmericanDevilThoroughly detailed, but never overwhelming!A friend let me know that this podcast was up and running. Being a long-time fan of Madonna, I was interested. While I don't think her present output is worth the scrutiny of her material between 1983 and 2003, so the tracks explored so far have been top notch. The podcast is full of stories about the songs' humble beginnings and little surprises that are buried in the mixes. The host is very knowledgeable about the music and how the songs were crafted in the studio. He presents isolated tracks that added significant components to the final mix (drums, bass, guitars, samples, etc.). It's fascinating to hear each piece on its own and grouped together with others without recreating the full song. Absolutely perfect for the Madonna fan and burgeoning modern pop musicians who'd like a lesson or two on how to make music with warm, organic qualities.

DrewonimoFinally, a podcast worthy of MadonnaAs a podcast connoisseur, I can say this ranks above most of them – easily. Well researched and delivered, with tons of audio candy that the vast majority of us will have never heard before, the podcast covers what almost no one else does when looking at Madonna's extraordinary 35+ year career: the making of her music. As a pop culture phenomenon, I get why so much of what Madonna has and continues to do gets covered the way it does, but it all starts with a gift for delivering one musical gem after another. Dozens of collaborations in, the one constant is Madonna and Inside the Groove gives a glimpse as to why that makes for so many sterling records.

drexulA riveting deep dive into Madonna’s songsThis was such an exciting surprise. With only two episodes I am hooked. I anxiously await the chance to be fascinated and learn something new about a subject I thought I knew everything about. Well done and recommended!
