Early on, but loving it so far
Had to leave a review after listening to episode 5. The writing and sound design is phenomenal, witty and suspenseful it all is written and voice acted very well. I know there’s a lot left for me to listen to, but after hearing the outro credits of episode 5 being screamed over deafening power metal, I had to leave a 5 star review.

    Cryo-Freezing People, Trail Blazing Story
When the new wywh episodes started coming out I decided to re-listen to the full podcast. Even knowing already what happens throughout the show, it’s such an experience. I noticed things I hadn’t the first time, felt like I had a more full understanding of the characters, and fell in love with the story all over again. Every character is complicated and feels like real people who could exist in this situation, it’s fantastic writing. The body horror early on made my gf a bit squeamish, but I felt enraptured, totally locked in. I listen to a lot of fiction/audiodrama podcasts (I’m a big believer of Herzog’s statement “the poet must not avert his eyes”) and have thusly listened to a lot that just never seem to get their footing or keep it up. Red Valley, in contrast, had my full interest by the middle of the first episode. It feels like you’re going down the rabbit hole with Warren and Gordon, and it never let me go. Aside from being completely distracted from my day to day life while listening to and thinking of this story, the one downside is that I have become annoyingly pedantic about the difference between cryonics and cryogenics, which made my friends roll their eyes when I kept correcting them at a watch party for the new Fallout TV show. Lol. I could go on for hours about this podcast. Trying to be as spoiler free as possible here since it’s a review but genuinely each episode deserves a dissertation. I could totally visualize each scene, each character, the settings are so vivid in my head, and while it’s maybe not the creators vision or everyone else’s, when I’m able to do this for an audiodrama it really gets me in the zone and I know it’s a good podcast. The character writing, oh my god. Each character, even the ones in less scenes, all feel fleshed out. No one is 100% good here, everyone dabbles in the moral grayness that a situation like this deserves, no one’s hands are clean, everyone motivated by their own desires and necessities. The Overhead company, buying up patents and companies, conducting inhumane experiments, and aiding in the destruction of people and planet alike with all the corporate disinterest of “it’s my job” and “we have to increase profits for investors at whatever cost”, it’s so painfully realistic. Ok, maybe there’s no popping out of the cryopod in our timeline, but if there were, I would imagine this wouldn’t be too far off. I’m a big sci fi fan, but it’s the speculative nature (especially in a lot of older stuff) in science fiction that always hooks me. Red Valley has it in spades. **spoiler** As an American, the only thing I found slightly unrealistic was the use of cryonics for mass incarceration. Almost definitely would not happen here as the labor stolen from prisoners is too profitable for the private prison owners to spend that much money to freeze someone in place. In other countries without amendment 13 or similar legislation? More likely. Testing on prisoners also felt extremely realistic since they do that here as well. **spoiler end*** This definitely ranks in S tier podcasts for me. Can’t wait to see the end of the story, see what they put out next, and re-listen to this one as many times as it takes for my brain to “chill” about wanting more of this show. Big thanks to the team for their phenomenal work writing, voice acting, mixing & sound designing, and all together producing this absolute stunner and releasing it to the public.

    Perplexing promo
What an incredible show. A couple times a year, maybe up to 4-5, you’ll find a great show and rejoice. This, though, is the cream of that crop — closer to a once a year show. Sci-fi, bro-com heavy yet passes the Bechdel (a low bar, but I just mention it as a “for instance”), with excellent characters that are developed within the window in which the narrative occurs, sometimes steadily over time, sometimes at a moment’s notice. A delight the whole way through; hilarious. I’m looking forward to their next Entertainment. I say all of that to say: how are you going to make a show worthy of any praise it might receive - and more - then update its feed with a promo for Road of Shadows?! Just finished the first season (on y’all’s recommendation, obviously)… Woof. Here’s hoping prospective listeners who are familiar with that show don’t pass up yours due to this association and the assumptions it could encourage.

    Raves for Red Valley
One of the few Sci Fi podcasts that hits all the marks for acting, plot, characters, dialog and sound quality. So sad it’s over. Thanks for the fun audio ride!

    Excellent Listen
Impressive voice acting and sound design with an intriguing concept and engaging development. For those with medical trauma or medical emergency phobia, some scenes may be genuinely difficult to listen to, and that is praiseworthy. Check content warnings and enjoy the show.

The Twists! The Turns! I ♥️ Red Valley !💥
I absolutely LOVE this Sci-Fi Audio Drama. The Acting is GREAT and the Story sure has had a FEW SURPRISING TWISTS. LOVED IT. Yahoooo for a Season 2 🙌🙌🎉🥳! UPDATE: Now midway through S3. Still loving every minute. It amazes me that someone can be this creative and dream up a story like Red Valley. Hats off to the WRITER & to the Actors who pull this off. If you love Sci-Fi (with some dry hilarious one liners thrown in) this is the Show for you. This WILD STORY just keeps getting better and better!!! I am totally invested in these Characters. I thought Season 1 was amazing…then Season 2…and Season 3 is just as FABULOUS. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️’s & 2 👍👍’s up‼️‼️💥💥💥💥💥

I might combust waiting for season three
The friendships! The morally dubious tech corporations! The jokes! It all makes me wish that the UK is a real place.

Give me Clive or give me newtons cradle
If you’re hesitant on listening to this because you know literally nothing about cryo this and cryo that, trust me when I say they will do all of the (mostly) explaining for you! The listener is basically Gordon as he unravels the mystery that is Warren and cryogenic labs and underpaid assistants. Honestly, this is my desert island podcast. I could quite literally rehear every single Clive Schill insult and never get bored. You come for the cryogay leads (I am a Wardon/ Gorren truther) and stay for the cute turtle. Give red valley a chance! -Bug

    Funny, dark and twisted sci-fi.
I discovered Red Valley in the opening months of the pandemic and it was a much welcome escape into another world. I quickly fell into the mystery of Red Valley as well as the banter and friendship between the leads. My one knock on the show is that the sporadic release schedule leaves me a bit confused as to the X's and O's of the plot. The new season hasn't done a great job of reintroducing the characters and main plot points. I'm sure that the show will read much better upon a full re-listen, but with many months passing before the show comes out of cryo-freeze, it can be a bit jostling to jump back in.

Funny, creepy, well written, sci-fi, audio drama
I really enjoyed Red Valley, it sucked me in pretty quickly, which was impressive as it sometimes takes a while for me to get into a show. I don’t know why, but cryogenics have always creeped me out and fascinated me at the same time. This definitely plays off that well. There’s some good humor in it and the voice actors do an excellent job. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to future seasons.

    Oh yah
Up 3 down 3 left right left right. Enjoy that while I keep enjoying this.

Incredible voice acting & storytelling, a must listen
I got into this for the same reason that I always get into something new - because there’s a small but thriving community for this fandom and there are some very talented fan artists who are making very compelling art for it. Red Valley has incredible voice acting and the story is excellently told. You have to pay attention when you listen, because it’s the small details that really make this podcast come alive. I’m beyond excited for season 3. Also I forgot to add that the queer representation is VERY good and I love them all to bits for this.
  • BubbleyBison
    genuinely mesmerizing
I have never before felt compelled to write a review for a podcast in my life but oh boy. I started listening this morning on a whim and just could not stop until I was done. It pulled me in with the fantastic dry humor and silly references, then proceeded to drop a metaphorical anvil on my head. The characters and their relationships are so well thought out, and it just leaves me wanting more, in the best possible way. I’ve just been sat here trying to compose myself. Cannot express how much I look forward to seeing (or hearing, I guess) more, and I am immediately telling all my friends about this :D
  • Wootsy1
    Great story
This podcast hooked and reeled me in after the first episode. The voice actors are great with good sound design. The writers are talented with just the right balance of wit and comedy to make it entertaining and suspense and intrigue to leave you wanting more. I have to say the three very best podcasts I’ve listened to over the past 6mo have all been from the UK. Those cats are doing it right over there. Can’t wait for the next installment. Season 2, episode 7 was MASTERFUL. My only gripe is that there were a bit too many pop culture references. After a while, it lost its charm.

    BORING
    And boring some more !
  • Iowafan11
    Excellent
Compelling premise, a clever intersection of sci-fi/audiodrama with some comedic and popular culture references. Very interesting storytelling with creative presentation of the narrative’s timeline. Small details in the writing demonstrate that the writers have excellent knowledge of anesthesia/resuscitative medicine. Highly recommend.

came for the sci-fi mystery, stayed for the tortoise
This is a fantastic podcast! Now that I’m caught up I don’t really know what to do with myself. The mystery sci-fi horror aspect is extremely exciting and honestly you never really know what’s going to happen next but in the best way possible. What really surprised me though was the way the characters in this series grow on you, some you desperately want to see win, others you can’t wait till they get what’s coming to them. and dare I say there’s a ship in here that makes my heart feel warm & fuzzy & also angsty? Also there’s a tortoise in this and I love him. ( also !!! Lots of queer representation !! ) Anyways I hope this series gets a bigger fanbase bc I need fanart asap

Don’t judge an (audio)”book” that’s actually a podcast by the cover.
Great story, I wouldn’t bother writing this if this wasn’t really (actually) good. Super clean sound, editing, writing, acting is top shelf. I’ll admit I heard about this and subscribed but it took me forever to even give it a chance bc the artwork just looked really amateur like someone made it in Microsoft paint, so i made the foolish assumption it would sound like it was also recorded in their dorm or parents office. Totally not the case, so don’t judge an (audio)”book” that’s actually a podcast by the cover. Funny, creepy, witty, relevant, well done, real and yeah, just hella good. A definite recommend. ✌🏽

    Phenomenal Podcast
I absolutely love this show. I binged the whole first season every spare moment I had after starting it and am now waiting with bated breath for Season 2 to drop. The voice acting and sound design are top notch, and Warren and Gordon (especially) are so lovable. I wish Gordon was my hype-man lol. Season 1 took an unexpected twist, and I can’t wait to see how the story continues to play out. Also, I purchased a Red Valley tshirt and hoodie, and wish I could live in them full time.
  • Gbhyrfc
    Wonderful podcast
Acting is great especially Warren and Gordon. Many comedy elements to this show and the story is fabulous. I did go back to Season 1 for another listen and it was just as good (if not better) the second time. Thank you for such a wonderful show.

    So good
Great all around I try a lot of podcasts and this is gold. Story, acting, sound, all great (Voices great but took me a bit to be able to tell Aubrey from Bryony) Went back and listened a second time , Excited to see where this is going

I’m baffled as to how this podcast hasn’t earned more followers/reviewers.
The fact that this is outside my usual genre but I’m pausing halfway through binging all available episodes in 1 night to write this review should give some hint how much this podcast caught and held my attention. I wasn’t sure I would like it at first… until the story really started to unfold and interest me when the characters started listening to the recordings about the mysterious project. The sound quality is what kept me listening during the 10 minutes my attention spent usually gives anything lately before moving on, and I wasn’t disappointed. Unlike so many others, this show is more than a few people reading scripts in a room with some ambient sounds tossed on top. It’s obvious they care about the quality And believability. The characters are realistic without being frustrating.

    Great story and cool concept
This is top notch talent that should not be missed. Really enjoyed everything about Red Valley and would recommend a listen. Brought me back to my days watching X-Files which if you like you will love this one..

Ethical science? Not in my Sci-fi podcast
Just finished session 1 and I can’t wait tell session 2 comes out. Red valley well make you feel all the emotions. It’ll make you laugh, you’ll be surprised, it’ll even make you a bit sad, and it’ll make you question what really makes a choice a choice. I loved the 2 main characters back and forth and I can’t what to see what happens to them in session 2.
  • CaptStucky
    Incredible
I listen to A LOT of fiction podcasts. Since finishing (or almost finishing) most of my favorites, I was worried I wouldn’t find one to live up to the ones I loved. I gave tons a try, but none clicked until I found Red Valley! It’s captivating, exciting, and such a fascinating mix of foreboding and comforting. The plot is intense and stressful at times, but it’s also funny, and warm and the main characters and their relationship, whatever it may be, is authentic and becomes genuinely tender by the end of season 1. I’m so interested to see how the plot unravels in season 2. I’ve listened to season 1 and While You Were Hypersleeping 2 or 3 times each. If you like well-paced, modern sci-fi and thrillers and engaging, heartfelt characters, please give it a listen—it’s really the best of both worlds.

    Very entertaining!
It started out with a serious tone but developed into a great mix of comedy, drama, sci-fi. Great characters and put together amazingly well. Sound is on point and puts you in the scene. Can not recommend enough!

    Yes
Just yes! There were a few parts that I had to go back and re-listen to because if you miss small details, you miss a lot. Seriously enjoyable though. Listen through to the season finale, you won’t be sorry.
  • GMahmud
    Very slow
Hardly getting into the interesting Red Valley seed thing! It’s mostly interpersonal drama like a hospital show on tv that’s really about the sex lives of doctors.

    Don’t hesitate.
I’m picky with podcasts with serious commitmentphobia but this was immediately wonderful. If you like Shawn of the Dead or Welcome to Nightvale, give this a go.
