    Meh
Michael Mann was terrific and I thought they would all be like that! Awards shows? Who cares? Cinema and filmmakers please!
  • bizzysteph
    Lovely
The awards commentary is great! I appreciate the bts look of the award shows and interviews given by the hosts including the press room, the governors’s hall etc — especially coverage of the current protests at the award shows that many of us wouldn’t see covered anywhere else. Thanks for painting a full and empathetic picture of that in addition to human interactions with the stars in the center

It’s so refreshing to listen to females hosts talk about film. This isn’t your ordinary film bro podcast🩵

    Not for me
I wanted to love it, but the hosts are just too…punchy? They sound to me like hostages with guns held to their heads. Hard to listen to anyone being that forcibly chipper.

    Viva la Letterboxd Podcast!
From my first time listening to “Ghibli Magic Moments” during the beginning of the pandemic, I have always been able to rely on the Letterboxd show for hilarious, heartfelt, and well-researched film entertainment. Putting on the podcast on long drives always makes me feel like I’m in the company of old friends and I ESPECIALLY love the Best in Show limited series. Would love more episodes with costume designer and/or production designer guests as the Catherine Martin Best in Show épisode knocked my socks off. In any case, Slim, Gemma, Mia, and Mitchell: never stop doing what you are doing! Y’all rock! 🥳

    Keep It Going
Just wanted to drop a note here to say this is always a great podcast to listen to (and they actually quoted a review of mine in their recent "In the Cut" episode -- Gemma said my name to Jane Campion, and I'm blushing!). I hear they might be considering some format changes, but no matter what form they take, I hope Gemma, Slim, Mia, Mitch, and the crew stick around. Here's hoping they keep the Four Favorites and the Weekend Watchlist. Reliable and entertaining weekly listening.

    Friendship wins
I love listening to this show. The hosts do a wonderful job of making ME feel like I’m there with them. Love this crew and their ability to pour everything they have into each ep. They care about what they are doing. And it’s noticeable.

    Magnifique
This podcast is a breath of fresh air in the realm of film criticism / appreciation content. Equal parts insightful, witty, respectful and heartfelt, and never overtly negative or film-snobby. The hosts have a deep knowledge and appreciation for their subject matter, and you can tell by their rapport and the flow of the show that they have a good time putting it all together. Good commentary. Good film recommendations. Good times.

    Letterboxd 🤙🏻
I *love* the Letterboxd podcasts! Love Gemma’s accent, the wild opinions, the celebrity guests with their four faves. I’ve added so many movies to my watchlist, learned how to shuffle so I can start actually watching my watchlist in 2023, and just love the conversations and the dynamics between all the hosts. They’re hilarious but my favorite thing is the lack of pretension. If you love movies, you definitely need to listen in.

    Great show
I’ve added several movies to my LB watchlist off of listening to this show, they’re all a lot of fun to listen to

    Much love 💕
Just wanna drop in to say how much I love letterbox’d and all of the podcast episodes they have! Especially the Weekend Watchlist. It’s such fun and always enjoy hearing what random movie the hosts have to watch based on their shuffled watch lists!

    A Pure Delight
Both The Letterboxd Show podcasts (Four Favorites original and Weekend Watchlist) are so much fun to listen to! The main show, hosted by Gemma and Slim, allows its guests to have fascinating conversations about films they are passionate about. Gemma and Slim have such a great rapport with each other and always seem to be having fun with whomever the guest is. I have learned about a bunch of fascinating voices on film through this podcast! Weekend Watchlist has also become a vital listen for me every week. Slim, Mitchell and Mia succinctly and joyously talk about the upcoming week’s new releases. The real highlight though is the Watchlist Shuffle segment, where the hosts shuffle their watchlists to find a movie to watch before the next show and talk about their previous shuffle pick. It provides a great opportunity to learn about films I had never heard of and they highlight listeners who do the same. An absolute blast of a feed and a must listen for film lovers everywhere!

Kind of a banger not gonna to lie
The weekend watchlist is calming and helps keep me up to date while four favorites introduces me to a lot of films. Great energy from all of the host.

A Great Expansion of Letterboxd Itself
A breezy, enjoyable, and informative listen, The Letterboxd Show does so many things right! It has a great pair of regular hosts and a rotation of guests who are given the spotlight each week. It has a format we can rely on week after week, and that format (primarily a focused discussion on the four favorite movies of the guest) brings inherent variety. It has a great balance of passion and humility. We know why these speakers love the movies they love, and we are given honest moments of humility, like when the hosts admit that they simply didn’t fully connect with Fellini’s 8 1/2. (I am similarly “flawed,” so I particularly appreciated this!) The hosts don’t rely on memory; they rewatch (or give a first-time watch) to the favorites of the guests, which not only shows great respect to the guest but great respect to the movies themselves. They do a great job with the actual formatting of the podcasts, having chapter titles and chapter-specific images, as well as complete sets of links to all movies discussed. Finally, they honor Letterboxd itself by reading quotes from member reviews and sharing interesting stats gleaned from the site. (In addition to the “four favorites” episodes, they also have a “weekend watchlist” episode that does a good job of mentioning the obvious wide releases but has also brought to my attention a couple of hidden gems. Great stuff, keep it up!

    Excellent!
Letterboxd is an absolute treasure! They’re one of my favorite apps (strong contender for #1) and this podcast is just wonderful. I’m a fan of all the formats & all the hosts and crossing my fingers to be on the show properly one day! 🤞🏼

Back to Only One Show? I Hope Not
How dare Letterboxd try to give us a varied way to listen to thoughts and opinions on movies, and let us know about new releases. The nerve of giving us not only one, but two weekly quality shows.
  • Sikapwach
1/3 of a good podcast about movies
I’ve loved getting Gemma’s mix of humor, knowledge and amazement, but adding other hosts into the feed has brought down the overall quality.

Wow. It’s so fresh, fun and relaxed. It’s like I am at a bar taking to my friends about movies. I wish I had discovered it earlier.

    Letterboxd for your ears
Part film, part psychoanalysis, the Letterboxd Show, brings a wide range of guests who share childhood stories, fond memories of first time watches and meaningful recollecting around the 4 most memorable movies in their lives. Hosted by In the cut advocate ~ Gemma and Don't believe the hype ~ Slim, each episode showcases insiders, and regulars as they together approach every angle of the movie making and movie watching experience. Definitely come for the movies but stay for the fun, and those infinite lists. ♡ @blurco My top four are Happiness (1998), The Doom Generation (1995), Little Children (2006) and Irreversible (2002).

Big fan of The Letterboxd Show! As a movie fan, I found this to be a great addition and supplement to the Letterboxd website. Gemma is a great host and thoughtful insights and takes on movies. Slim is a good addition as well. I enjoyed listening and learning about their Top Four. Looking forward to listening more to this great show! Thank you. My Top Four: Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), The Matrix (1999), The Return of the King (2003), The Dark Knight (2008).

    Amazing Companion to Letterboxd
I am loving this podcast. Smart, tasteful, playful conversations with some solid guest appearances. It’s a great companion to the Letterboxd website, it’s users, and it’s new editorial section on the site. You will find yourself adding a good handful of movies to your watchlist after each episode.
