    A great, creepy podcast!
I only learned of this show recently and I love it! For me, it’s a wonderful mix of storytelling, creepiness, and dry humor. I love hearing about each item the shop sells and what it does and why people pick them. Even though the effects are not great most of the time, it’s still fascinating to listen to. The storyteller has a great sense of timing and each episode is a delight. I’m 23 episodes in and I can’t wait to listen to the next. The storytellers accent is fantastic and the end credit blooper/history lessons are great fun!

    Unending Praise for this Podcast
I started listening on a whim, wholly by accident while searching for a new podcast. I had only just discovered that narrative podcasts were a thing and was interested in something like a good book that you would listen to in early November when it’s raining outside and you’re snuggled up on the couch with a blanket and your coffee, meanwhile I was actually driving to school. I was drawn into the story without any effort and before I knew it, I was in the Antique Shop itself. The narration is so lovely and pristine, the background music and effects are subtle but contribute so much to the experience, the narrative and storytelling reflect a level of skill that I can only envy, and overall I found not a single flaw. As an avid reader from the age of 3 to now over 30, I can say that there have been few stories that I felt like I was truly invested in, as though the events were somehow about me or like a dream that I was remembering. This podcast was one of those stories, and I cannot recommend it enough to enough people. If you are unsure of starting, don’t hesitate. Just like in the story, you find yourself at the Antique Shop only when you are meant to.

    Delightful
Spooky and adorable. Absolutely captivating. I want to read/listen to everything she ever writes. The story has a satisfying and unexpected resolution, but I binged it too fast and now I miss it like an old friend.

    Can’t stop binging!
I love the story line. It’s more magical than scary. I love to listen in her strong Scottish brogue, but her voice is beautiful for these stories that she’s written and recorded herself. BTW, I’m now listening to the podcast again. This time for enjoyment of some details and nuances of the tales. Her stories are creative. I can’t believe it took me so long to find this charm of a podcast. If you like old lore and a tiny shop that can only be found by people who need something (magical or potions and so on) you’ll find yourself binging thi podcast as. It’s a good idea to start from the beginning. And I obviously needed something from the store since finding it. I hope you will find it as well. I’m going to miss her voice in her Scottish brogue and can only wait to see if she writes more! Thanks.

    Love this podcast!
Simple. Music is calming, creepy. Her accent is great. For an American English speaker, it’s hard (despite what people think) to understand other dialects of English. But hers is great! She’s clear, even paced and thats been a gripe, of mine, with past with other podcasts. She keeps you in the stories. I love the underline story and the structure of the mini stories. Keep them coming!

Love this story! It makes you wish you could visit the shop
Maya’s voice in this podcast adds to the story. It draws you in and generates images of this spectacular antique shop with all sorts of curiosities in every corner. It is just a amazing story that you must experience. Support this podcast by checking it out for yourself!

    Wonderful format
Found your other podcast & followed you to The Antique Shop. Loved both but this one is my favorite, listening in chunks of 3-4 episodes at a time. Enjoy stories of people discovering their hidden talents or life purposes. Brogue gets a little thick at times for an American but otherwise am LOVING it. Great job missy!! Prosody Lady

    Binged
I have spent the last two and a-half days binging the 1st two seasons. This podcast is fantastic and I can’t believe it took me so long to find it. I am excited to see another couple of seasons posted but I’m going to have to pace myself or else fall into that deep depression that one gets waiting for the rest of their favorite story. The author is a fantastic storyteller and her Scottish dialect is charming, I could listen to her all day. I have! I listen podcasts daily and have for the last several years (even pre-pandemic) and this has become my favorite. Thank you to the creator, this is a story that will stay with me for a very long time.

An original story, and a favorite.
This story is an original storyline. Very well told and well written. When I find a keeper, I binge-listen. We fans would love more seasons. I highly recommend this to anyone.

    Absolutely delightful
Edit November 2021: Yay! I’m so glad this has returned! Everything previously written stands, a wonderful and charming story. This is a hidden gem that deserves a huge audience. Whimsical, intriguing, and well-written. The sort of fantastical story and storytelling I adore. Please, keep them coming!

    Take it or take it🥰✨✨
I don’t think I’ve done this before. Leave a podcast review I mean. And while I could go on about how beautifully it was written and narrated (which it is), I think imma go a different route. This is a great podcast that leaves some levels of creepy, while still being safe to listen to at night. Which is so wonderful for m because when I tell you I’m a wuss, I mean it. But the story also has mystery that makes you want to learn and hear more while trying to put the dots together yourself. And even more wonderfully, it’s not all mystery and chills ( tho there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s very nice) there even some light humor in there that will get a bemused emotion from anyone. Truly truly loved it, and if your one of those few souls who came across this randomly, then you must have found it just when you needed it. Also thx to anyone who decided to read through this whole dang message. Oh, and if your Ghostly Thistle reading this, hi! Really love this work. Excited to hear more. Also I made some fanart! Ok bye -Tili M. Prosova

    Ghostly Thistle is the best!
This podcast is a double threat- well written and flawlessly narrated. The author is a pleasure to listen to and her stories are enthralling. Highly recommend!

    A wonderful distraction
I’ve never taken the time to write a podcast review before though I listen to many of them. These stories are a wonderful distraction for these times , drawing you in with lyrical writing, well performed and believable characters. One of my all time favorites, a wonderful storyteller! It’s easy to get lost in the world of magic or the supernatural that she creates.

    Interesting storytelling
What a treasure! A pretty jewel nestled in a competent edit. Bravo!!!!
  • cloudyb17
    My favorite podcast yet
I got hooked on Ghostly Thistle’s first podcast over a year ago, but took some time before starting this one. I’m not sure why I waited, but I suppose the podcast found me exactly when I needed it. Brilliantly written and perfectly performed. You won’t regret starting this one.

    I absolutely love this!!!
I have lived in her stories for weeks now and I love them so much. After I turn them off they stay with me for days until I listen to another. I long for more. ( Spoiler) Also, I was honestly devastated when Reed and the narrator split. I can’t wait to hear what happens next. <3
  • DoctorRescueMomma
    Beautifully written & performed
She really paints a picture that I can see for every episode. Her accent is also so beautiful! The episodes smoothly transition to the next, without even missing a beat like there wasn’t 2 weeks in between them being uploaded. I am so enthralled in the story/stories, I’m writing this review while starting #19. I see from other reviewers, that you’re coming back this year. And I am so ready for more of The Antique Shop! The episode “past”, was my favorite. Envisioning the by gone era, and so vividly detailed, it was just beautiful. Give this podcast a try! It is a true delight & very refreshing storytelling.

    Really draws you in
After listening to her other podcast, I didn't hesitate to listen to this one. I can't wait to see how the story moves in the future.
  • Amyknapp
Man, I fell in love with this!
Happy for your future but I will miss your stories!!! I hope you come back soon!!
  • therobi
    Love the story telling
To get it out of the way first, obviously the accent is amazing and enjoyable for this Midwestern girl to listen to. But the stories are great and draw you in. I’ve re-listened to the entire podcast a few times now and can’t wait for more stories.
  • charged77
    Amazing
Sooooo good but I can’t wait to find out what happens next! Good luck and hope to hear from you soon!!

    Sooo good!!
Found this by recommendation from Ghosts in the Burbs, it’s so wonderfully macabre and so well written
  • Lola20045
    My new favorite podcast
So well-written and produced! Like another reviewer, I enjoy the little twists every episode takes. I like that the author seems to have a plan. So many good fiction podcasts drift off into weirdness that I don't feel like keeping track of anymore. This one seems really solid.

  • Lobeth45
    Noooo!! More podcasts :,(
Jk - I definitely appreciate the need for some time to get to a place to be able to do more, but I’m so sad about missing my weekly stories. I love this podcast, I love everything about it and I can’t wait for every episode. Good luck on your dissertation defense and completion of your PhD. I’ll miss hearing that soft Scottish brogue tell me about fantastic objects and people.

    Different and enjoyable
I’m very much enjoying this podcast. I will admit that sometimes her ‘accent’ was at the start difficult to my American ear, but then I easily got in the rhythm. And I’m also learning some Scottish colloquialisms! Next I’ll be listening to The McIlwraith Statements.

    No Words
Truly, I have no words to describe how much I LOVE this podcast. The story is so different and captures the imagination. And her voice! I could listen to her read a cereal box and be totally enthralled (yes, I am American and love European accents). I hope you keep creating such wonderful world for us! Thank you!
