    Replacing other movie pods
Honestly, I don’t have enough time to listen to all that I’d like, but Joe Dante’s show, Paul scheers show and a few others were in heavy rotation w/me,then replaced with your show because you 3 are naturals at this. You’re genuine and more fun to listen to than most other movie pods! Wunderbar

The most entertaining and illuminating movie podcast around
Vintage Video is probably my favorite non-monster related podcast to date. The information Patrick digs up to share (with sprinkled tidbits of exotic errata from Richard) make this one of the most enlightening listens. The chemistry between Patrick, Richard, and Jesse as well as the generally jovial nature of their interactions made me blaze through their backlog of episodes early on. Now I eagerly await each new drop and ravenously engage with them asap. Patrick’s accessibility on the Discord channel for patrons of VV’s Patreon is another factor in why this podcast is a favorite. Engaging with fellow hosts of other pods, as well as fans in open discussions of our shared love of cinema is the frosting on this multilayered confection.

Perfectly Imperfect Podcast of time-forgotten films
What’s the most important part of a podcast? Perfection or listenability? So many users on here complaining about minor issues… it’s free! And it’s a darn good one too! Are the hosts experts or old enough to have experienced it all first hand? No! But this type of format isn’t even for the audience who was/is! They certainly put more effort into it than heaps of other movie review podcasts on here! Bottom line; it’s a funny & informative retrospective review show that’s great to put on when your multitasking, but maybe not a prime time Friday nite date.

Pleasure to hear, year after year!
While the Eighties are a naturally great slice of cinema to sink one’s teeth into, I could listen to the crew at Vintage Video review anything. Patrick, Jesse and Richard not only have tremendous rapport, but their experience in the film industry brings a lot to movie reviews that are already thoroughly researched and pleasant to listen to. Highly recommended!

Love the idea and films, hate the lack of perspective
I understand that none of the podcasters were alive when these movies were released or too young to have experienced the cultural context, but it’s overwhelming to have to forgive that aspect so much no matter how much I want a podcast to cover these movies. Sadly it ends up making this a fumbling synopsis of each movie with very little perspective. I gave it a three for how much I want to like this podcast and how hard it can be making it through it.

    Nothing new
Reading from Wikipedia and complaining is not movie analysis or worth listening to! It’s this unknown skill fame seeking of new generation with no value of itself or anything new to add your previous reading of Vintage movies.

    An incredible journey
Going all the way through the 80s is ambitious and it seems like they are up to it! This appeals to the completionist in me - great research, fun tone and some great jokes too.

    My new fave podcast
This is a movie lovers paradise. What a huge endeavor it is to take on watching & rating every movie of the 1980s. Patrick kills it with the jokes and research, Jesse & Richard add so much fun and knowledge to the discussions. Its’s now a Must Listen for me

    Pop-up video for your ears!
This show is fantastic! It has exquisite audio recording and editing, trivia about the movies, and the podcast walks you through the whole film. Patrick is an excellent host who does an insane amount of research and pulls great clips. It’s a comfort listen as much as it is informative. Check it out already!!

    It’s a really funny listen
I forgot which episode I started with, but I’ve been going through back episodes at random based on movies I know, I’m curious about and so on. They have great banter and their conversations get ridiculous at times, in a good way. Their discussion of the rules of the magic in Tuck Everlasting had me cracking up. Really glad I found this one.

Great walk through with some good laughs
I have just started listening to this podcast at episode 0309. These guys make me laugh and the walk through and banter is great. I feel that I have seen the movie without seeing the movie. If they talk enough about it then I will watch the movie. Like the intro says they watch them so we don’t have to. So everyone subscribe to this podcast it’s an easy listen.

    Like an old radio show!!
Love how the films are narrated like an old time radio program with commentary and interjections by the crew. A fun listen for people interested of the craft.
  • Welcome2primetime
Would be okay without one person
I was enjoying this podcast at first. Then one of them made some sexist and ageist comments. What a bummer. Plus little research into 80’s actors and directors. This woman did not know John Carpenter or Tom Atkins. This is an 80’s podcast and you don’t know these people? Could have been fun but with a Debbie Downer onboard it just makes listening a chore.
  • DerDaNicoleBe
    Insanely detailed!
Patrick and the crew work harder than any indie pod in the biz to bring you every detail about the movies they cover.
  • DarlingLaraMiller
    Can’t listen to this
Checking it out for the first time, and one of the hosts just said, “Who’s Julie Christie?” Come on … you have no business hosting a movie show if you don’t know who Julie Christie is.
  • Mike Starrs
Refreshing discussion on the movies of the 80’s
Do you enjoy an audio synopsis of movies without endless video edits and annoying ads? This show is for you! The trio reviews movies on the anniversaries of their past release date, plus a few bonus reviews here and there. Humor and critique is also prevalent, but not to the point where it overshadows the movie. The best thing is the length of the show, which typically hovers around the one hour mark. An added bonus is how the main host lists the cast and their work in detail. Great research! Great show!

Good Podcast Need Much Less Jesse
Enjoyable podcast, but Jesse is so annoying. She never gets facts straight and nothing makes sense to her. She is a drag on the show. Everything else is enjoyable and informative.

    Takes me back
I love 80’s movies in all their hokey glory and this podcast let’s me revisit them, many I had forgotten even existed. When my parents bought our first vcr, which was this massive piece of noisy equipment, my friends and I watched endless films from the local rental shop. Thank you for taking me back to my childhood.
  • TravRyaLas
    Impressive
I normally do not listen to podcasts about movies I have not seen. This podcast does something special, they take movies I’ll never watch and turn them into can’t miss entertainment. Very smart and funny.

    Great concept and fun execution
I came across Vintage Video on my podcast (Screen Nerds Podcast) Twitter feed and thought it was a cool concept. Checked out a couple of episodes and really enjoyed listening. It is a pretty bold effort to watch through all the theatrical films of the 80s and they do a fine job breaking down the films. If you’re a film lover especially of the 80s, this is a great podcast to listen to

    Excellent!
Fun to listen to, great banter in just the right amounts, and lots of interesting movie choices that will have me building up my viewing queue for quite some time!

Discovering New Favorites Thanks to Vintage Video
Fell in love instantly with this podcast. Love hearing episodes on films I'm familiar with and love hearing about new movies. I discovered some new favorites, specifically Ninth Configuration, The Island and Eyes of a Stranger thanks to this show. Super fun and super informative. Also, they will tell you when you need to stop an episode and watch a movie before continuing, something most other podcasts will not.

A Phoenix from the ashes of the MacGyver reboot
I loved these guys on their MacGyver podcast (Phoenix Foundation) and was sad when that ended (and though I totally understood giving up on the reboot). Even back then I was impressed by their extensive movie knowledge and am so glad that they have a perfect outlet for that here. Now with the welcome inclusion of a woman’s perspective, I am excited to again be laughing along with Patrick and Richard while occasionally learning something about the movie industry and its history. I’ve barely seen any of the movies covered, but am still quite entertained. The occasional shout-out of MacGyver-related actors and other elements from that era make an amusing spinoff from that original podcast.

    Listen for the camaraderie
I've listened to podcasts that do scene by scene reviews, and I've listened to podcasts that do huge numbers of episodes, but I've never listened to one that did both. The best thing about these shows is the fun banter back and forth between the people. They go over every movie, scene by scene, to the extent that I feel like I've actually watched the movie. The final reviews at the end of each episode are essentially a coin flip as to whether I'll agree with them, but that doesn't really matter because they went over the whole movie scene by scene, so I already know whether I want to watch the movie or not, regardless of their final opinions. It's a fun podcast were people have fun talking about movies. I recommend listening.

    Comprehensive
What’s great and unique about this podcast is that it’s shaping up to be an encyclopedia of 1980s films. If I haven’t already seen a film, I can either listen to the early part of the episode and figure out if it’s worth watching (and catch up with the rest of the show later) or listen to the entire episode, find out most of what happens, and save me the effort of actually enduring an awful movie. Either way, the hosts keep up consistent banter that keeps me entertained.

    Great podcast
I’ve been following Patrick and Richard since Phoenix Foundation and they were great! Now with this podcast they bring their wit and insight to 80’s movies. Best of all, they’ve added Jesse who brings her own great insights. Just a fun, enjoyable listen.
  • TheBloody9
    Excellent audio
The audio for this series is amazing, I really appreciate the time and thought that goes into the audio for these episodes. The hosts are funny, witty and make it so I don't have to watch these movies from the 80's. Which is great because 80's movies are pretty unbearable IMHO
  • June - MMAndMeows podcast
    Very fun
I usually hate movie reviews, but they do an awesome job of detailing the movie plotline while giving humerous commentary. I felt like I was able to watch the best/worst parts of the movie without being subjected to watching it myself. Very cool experience, they managed to paint such vivid details that I could picture it all happening in my head

    Excellent Conversations And Keen Observations
Patrick, Jesse and Richard have developed an excellent show together! I get some definite MST3K vibes from the way they dissect each film. The amount of effort they put into the production really shows. I've never seen most of these movies from 1980, and they say I don't have to, but now I really want to! The way they release their episodes in sync with the year really is like stepping into a time machine. Plenty of facts to keep the conversations going, but they don't bore you with a reading off a wiki page. The facts are there for their awesome riffing. You'll definitely want to keep coming back, so SUBSCRIBE!

40 year old movies as seen by Thirtysomethings
I watched a lot of these movies the first time around. These movies where state-of-the-art in 1980 but get undressed in a delightfully insightful way by these reviewers who aren’t bound by that context. I have gained a new appreciation for just how good/bad/silly or utterly ridiculous the movies from 1980 where. Their research is superbly thorough and often enlightening. Patrick, Richard and Jesse have great chemistry and can make the even worst movie from my youth seem like something I ought to (re)watch with whole new perspective.

    Blast from the past!

    Xanadu 40th Anniversary. Yes!
Hugely enjoyable! From the uncovering of many factoids I never knew, to the amusing recounting of all the absurd and nonsesnical that make "Xanadu" what it is. Loved how much everyone loved the animated sequence and delightfully struggled with Kira's full name Terpsicore. Nothing snarky about it, just charming and witty riffing on a movie that screams out for it. All three participants contribute fun observations and I had a blast listening.

    5 stars!
These guys know their stuff. And they have great chemistry. I love the format. Started with the episode on The Shining, and looking forward to diving into more!

    Passionate and knowledgeable
The hosts definitely know their movies and the background of the actors. A really fun podcast for any movie buff also the idea of doing movies released exactly 40 years ago is great

    Thumbs up!
I need to watch more these movies, because I’m very close to being caught up. I’ve seen 34 of the 53 films on here so far. Better get watching. Although I have some disagreements with a few of the films they’ve reviewed, that’s all right. This podcast is great. The format is great, the films are well researched, and desrcribed. It’s quite easy to inhale these episodes, they are fun and funny. I’ve been having a good time and learning a lot. I wonder if that will continue as the 80’s march onward. Curious to find out. All three of these hosts seem to be committed rad cinephiles, and I’m grateful for it. Keep up the great work.

    Super fun
This is a super fun podcast! A blow by blow break down of a film that’s interesting and funny. It also seems like a great team of people working together. 5 out of 5 will listen again :-)

Engaging and fun journey through the years!
If you love the 80’s you need to check out the Vintage Video podcast. They are embarking on an incredibly ambitious journey to cover all major releases through each year of the 80’s. It would be a major undertaking just watching all of these movies let alone podcasting on them! They are engaging and easy to listen to. They are well researched and have put in the time. I’m excited to join them on this adventure. You should jump in too! -Jason from the Surely You Can’t Be Serious Podcast

A really fun podcast where three movie lovers watch and comment on every movie, good and bad, from the 1980s.
