    An education!
I am a lawyer with no background in design but I love beautiful things and I now live in a beautiful home that I decorated myself thanks to the education I got from listening to this podcast. There are several episodes I’ve listened to more than once because there’s so much useful information and in an industry that sort of wrote the book on gatekeeping, Jess and Su could not be more generous with their knowledge and insight. This podcast has been so incredibly helpful and such a fun listen. THANK YOU!

    THE BEST!
Thanks for explaining how to leave a review in the Book Club episode. I live for Thursdays so I can have you three in my life! Not only is your content educational and informative (I learn something new in every episode!), it's also fun and personable. In a world with so much heaviness in the news, it's so nice to have feel-good entertainment in my life. Thank you for being the light in so many people's lives.

    Favorite Podcast!
As a mom of littles and a wedding photographer, one of my favorite things to do during nap time or while editing is turn on this podcast! If I ever stepped away from photography, interior design would be my dream career, and this podcast totally feeds that passion. It inspires me to make bold choices in my own home and tackle projects I might not have considered before. Their warm energy and the way they explain things make every episode such a joy to listen to.

    Oh dear
I have never listened to this program before, but I had to turn it off after the 20th time these hosts mispronounced the name of a stone they were claiming to be experts in. It’s not Calcutta. It’s Callacatta Viola. It’s Italian, not a region in India I wouldn’t expect most people to know this difference, or frankly, to care about the pronunciation of an overpriced, much-too-trendy stone, but, any expert designer knows this difference. I couldn’t suffer through the third hand embarrassment I had for these three after that.

    Best podcast of ALL time
This is my all time favorite podcast! I love design and love the wealth of information that is shared, but I also enjoy the personalities of these three people. The way they interact and talk about life and design is so much fun! I am currently in the process of building our dream custom home, and I came across this podcast at the perfect time. It has helped validate and inspire me in all of my decision making. I have been binge listening to the entire podcast non stop!

A Master Class on Interior Design
Dear Alice, thank you thank you thank you for pursuing your passions and creating this podcast!! We are in the beginning stages of a new home build and this podcast has been my master class in design. Your advice has given me the confidence to think through the function of each space, the size and layout of the space, and the design elements of both the exterior and the interior. I am not a designer but a designer wanna be who is making it happen with your weekly guidance. You feel like both my friends and my mentors.

A huge Fan of Dear Alice- Inspired and Grateful!
Dear Dear Alice Team, I just wanted to take a moment to express how much I absolutely adore your podcast. I started listening in 2021 when my husband and I purchased our first home, and I was immediately hooked. Your insightful advice, warm personalities, and thoughtful design discussions have been a huge source of inspiration for me throughout our renovation journey. In fact, your podcast played such a pivotal role in sparking my passion for interior design that I decided to pursue my own certification! I went back to school and earned my interior design certification, all thanks to the motivation I gained from listening to you. Every week, I look forward to your new episodes, eager to learn more and hear your expert insights. Your advice has helped shape not just my personal style but my understanding of the design process. I am so grateful for the knowledge and encouragement you've shared with your listeners. Thank you for creating such an amazing podcast—I can’t wait to continue learning and growing as a designer with your guidance. With gratitude, Leah from NY

    Early listener, but can’t anymore
I have been listening to this podcast since they launched. I loved hearing their stories and advice, but lately I’ve noticed how judgmental and snobby they are about personal design choices. It’s very unattractive. In addition to that, they have launched the podcast on YouTube, for the extra revenue, I’m sure. However, podcasting is not a visual medium. We cannot see what they are showing us and talking about, which is really frustrating as a listener. Combine that with the snobbery and it is apparent that these women are out of touch in too many ways.

Love this podcast and I have been listening for a long time but lately I find it hard to listen too because a lot of the subjects are around images that I don’t see. I just want to listen to the three of you because you guys are great!

Thanks for sharing how to leave a review! My first ever! I have followed your show through 4years of a remodel and the 1000s of decisions needed at every turn. Would love to go deeper in a future show into lighting size, scale, placement, quantity, smart/connected and especially with upcoming designs for cordless lamps and sconce options. So many changes coming in technology in lighting it’s making my head spin. Have a great day and I look forward to your next episode.

Actionable Advice That’s fun to Listen to!
I love this podcast. They give specific, practical tips that anybody can learn from, no matter what your personal design style or budget may be. The team is also fun to listen to! I also like how they observe What Could Be Improved without being cruel about it. My go-to design pod.

    Easy on the Ears
I just found your podcast and am starting from the very beginning, we are about to build our third home and I am getting caught up on design trends, Classics, and specifically what is happening in the lighting world… I just finished the episode regarding the rug purchase as step one so you’ve given me a road map and I’m super grateful! I’m also the proud owner of a brand new lady danger and Dragon girl lip combo Thanks to Suzanne! thank you and cheers from Fredericksburg, Texas

    Out of touch
If you want a podcast about Interior Design, there are many better options. I absolutely cringed in the August 22 episode when Corey did this mocking Chinese accent and Jess referred to women who overdue their makeup as “streetwalkers. “ Overall the podcast lacks insight. If you’re looking for banter, this is just just vapid chitchat.

    This podcast changed my life
Not hyperbole! Specifically the episode about lighting. I changed my lightbulbs from 5000 kelvin daylight to soft light. Not only do I want to turn on my lamps now but it makes me so happy when I do. I have listened to almost every episode and I learn something new every time. I am hoping to build my forever dream home in next 3-5 years and now have a huge list of designer tips or things I didn’t think about before. I hope I have the privilege of working with these women when I build my home!

Best design wingmen/wingwomen in the biz
I was getting in my car last week after an absolutely whirlwind meeting at the job site, which felt like drinking from a water hose with every trade asking me for elevations and renders and a million questions, all of which were 'immediate needs' to be addressed. I nodded and made promises and walked to my car wondering how in the world I was going to rise to the occasion. When I got in my car I immediately reached for my phone to turn on the Alice Lane Podcast, because I listen to it at all times, almost like a meditation, and without any forethought a little voice inside my head said 'Talk to me Goose' and I just started laughing because I realized that's what you and Sue and Jesse and Corey are to me at this point in my remodel and budding design career--you're my wingmen. So thanks to you and to them for all the support, even if from afar!

A wonderful friendly and informative podcast!
I’ve been a long time listener and think the podcast is wonderful. There are so many wonderful guests and topics that are discussed. I try and listen each week to see what new and exciting information I will learn. My only critique or criticism would be the over use of the word “like”. There is one person saying the word like multiple times in a single sentence throughout the show. Once I heard it, I am unable to not hear it. Other than that the show is brilliant!

    A podcast for Everyone
Before I started listening to this podcast, I would look online at finished designs and love them, but struggled to know what individual pieces to choose in order to have a final result that I could live with. Jess, Suz and Cori have taught me how to curate a home that I love. One of my favorite takeaways is to only buy something if I LOVE it, and to not purchase placeholders. As I slowly build my collection of furniture, art and decor, I feel informed about my decisions and every detail brings me joy. Thank you for this wonderful gift of a podcast, I am eager to listen and learn every week.

How can you have three hosts with vanilla , boring taste … and ignorance for days like do these people not believe in personal style? No one needs to know anything personal about these people bc the more you learn the less you want to know

    Fun Inspiring Informative Listen!

    Generous, Knowledgeable and Warm.
Jess, Sue, and Corey, and this podcast truly stands out in a field where many guard their trade secrets as if they were nuclear codes. Instead of hoarding knowledge, these three are a wealth of information, generously sharing tips, tricks, and trends with both industry insiders and enthusiastic amateurs alike. What really sets this podcast apart is the genuine nature of the hosts. Jess, Sue, and Corey are not only knowledgeable; they're authentic and approachable, making even the most complex design concepts accessible to everyone. They truly embody the collaborative spirit that is at the heart of great interior design. Each episode feels like a master class, filled with actionable insights and inspiration. For anyone interested in the world of interior design, whether you're a seasoned professional or just starting to explore your passion, this podcast is a must-listen. It's not just informative; it's a delightful and inspiring part of my week. Five stars aren't enough for this fantastic trio!

    Not for the budget conscious
I actually agree with a lot of the design advice here but unfortunately in someway or another each show just made me feel like I was too poor to have good design. Which is actually false – because if you have a lot of money it's easy! I'm more interesting idea is how to make smaller budgets work. Listen, we all know that real stone is better than faux. That's really not news! The reason people use porcelain tile, etc. is often because they simply don't have the budget for stone. Perhaps that's not a flaw in the podcast but I'm just not the target audience here. Listener beware! This podcast feels like one for ladies who lunch.

    Thank you!
I love this podcast! I recently made a massive career shift (from Wall Street to wallpaper!) and your podcast has been tremendously helpful! It’s such easy listening and helps me get to speed on everything from trends to fundamentals. For your Q&A if I may— if you were to recommend a few trade-only furniture sources to someone new in the industry (who will primarily be working with high-end luxury customers) which would you recommend?!

What is with the ad placement?!
I recently discovered this podcast and have really been enjoying it -good hosts and good content. However, the editing on inserting the ads is so mind blowing in how poorly it is done. They will literally be in the middle of a sentence/word and then suddenly an ad is spliced in. When ad ends then it is back to them except now you can’t remember what they were talking about. I have never listened to a podcast that was so unprofessional in how ads were placed. I have no objection to the ads themselves- they are a necessary part of any podcast. My only objection is how they are inserted. Knocking two stars off for that - I think my dog could do a better job of editing.

    Guilty pleasure
I absolutely adore this podcast! I have been an interior designer for the last 20+ years and love every moment of this creative adventure I listen to weekly. I have never missed an episode and in fact have listened to many of them several times! Your conversations make me laugh, and I’m totally drawn in. Aside from the fact of your expert opinions on interior design, I love how you play back-and-forth with one another. Joy oozes from all of you. You are sincerely get mentors. I just sent over photos of a project I am working on and could really use your advise. It’s a VERY unique space. Ha to say the least. Best regards. Claudia Wrightson

Just terrible - now I have good taste
I thought you were either born with good taste or not when it comes to designing a space, because I do not naturally have a good eye. Now that my husband and I are planning a new build I’ve been listening to this podcast to learn a few things. This is is hands down my favorite design podcast. I look forward to it every Thursday. It has changed the choices I make for our current home - and people have started complimenting my taste! Our builder is saying we have great taste! So listen at your own risk.

….and the podcast Oscar goes to Alice Lane
I’m so hooked on this podcast. The day it drops I make some tea and immerse myself in a mental visualization of design ideas. It has all the elements of a perfect movie….inspiration, wisdom, and some salty takes that I adore. Keep up the amazing content. Y’all are my people. With love from a super fan ❤️

    Offensive
For an amateur design enthusiast I found many of their episodes to be engaging. I’ll admit that I’ve learned a lot, but lately I’ve grown a little tired of the topics and I’m losing patience with the hosts’ ignorance. Along with other questionable commentary my final straw came when one of the hosts commented “He has a very Jewish face…so he is all nose.” My jaw literally dropped. Please do better.

    Finding your niche
I am so in love with your podcast episodes. All of them! I usually listen while I’m taking a walk. The peace and quiet outside really help me be an intentional listener. Now I’m going to your you tube videos as well. Jess, you and Suzanne make me feel good about knowing that my design style needs to be ME! I have found that my style has drastically changed over my lifetime, as I am in my seventies. If in another lifetime I could choose a new profession it would be interior design. Who knows? You have inspired me to make my home pleasing to my family and friends, but especially to make me happy in it. Thank you
  • For the love of books!
    Desperately tried but….
I landed on this podcast and hoped it would provide interior design inspiration and insight. Unfortunately, I was turned off by the podcaster’s repeated use of the word ‘like.’ Using it nearly a hundred times in the first ten minutes was distracting, and it diminished their credibility.

    Just the best!
I found Dear Alice during the isolation of Covid … as a new designer /recovering accountant, I loved listening to their take on design . Their humor and honesty just kept me waiting for the next episode. I still have a lot to learn , but in this industry… it’s not like having a work cubicle buddy . It can be isolating. I started following the social posts ..and it all clicked . The work is absolutely beautiful. Well of course they should have a podcast! …Fast forward to April 23 at HPMkt .. I hear the familiar voices .. . “Dear Alice is that you ?” In my Helen Keller moment … Sue and Jess immediately walk over like I was their long lost friend . The warmth is so genuine. If you can’t hear it already on the podcast .. it’s absolutely true. I decided to gift myself a trip to Utah for the podcast celebration in October 23. And there was Cory . My favorite episode was How they all met …thank you for being so honest and vulnerable. I am so very glad I found your show ! Wendy

A must listen for those building a home!
We have spent the last 2 years building a custom home and this podcast was my main source of information through that process. I consider myself a semi-expert in design now after listening to every.single.episode! The information is so valuable and I love how the hosts give actionable tips and advice that can be implemented easily. Some of my main takeaways that have helped me in the design of our home: *Have something interesting or a feature in every room. *Take risks, especially in the powder room *Gravitate toward authentic materials *Choose the right lighting and bulb wattage *Art! We now love it. *Pick the right sizes of rugs, furniture, everything. They taught me how. *Embrace how you live and what you like and that should drive your design I truly feel like I have been given an education. And it has been incredibly enjoyable. Over the many, many discussions and choices my husband and I made during the home build, I would very often refer to advice given by these hosts to give us confidence as we moved forward. So thank you, all 3 of you, for the plethora of information and for helping us discover what luxury means to us.

    Favorite podcast 🤩🤩🤩
If only I was as consistent in the gym as I am with listening to this podcast, I haven’t missed a week. I have recommended this podcast to all of my best friends. As someone who has always wanted to go design school this has fed my curiosity about all things interior design and taught me so much. It makes me want to go and get my degree. We are currently in the middle of a major renovation on our “70s” home (Think Frank Lloyd Wright vibes) in Northern California. Listening to this podcast has helped me tremendously with making appropriate decisions and choosing timeless finishes. I hope you never stop this podcast, it’s truly a bright spot for me every week! Love you three! 🫶🏼

    My Favorite Podcast
Dear Alice is my favorite podcast. I look forward to listening each week. At times it’s laugh-out-loud funny, and I always finish each episode knowing a bit more about design than I did when I started. I imagine it’s not easy to produce a podcast about a visual medium like design, but Dear Alice does so excellently, with professionalism and a dose of humor. Five stars, Jessica Bennett, Suzanne Hall, and Cori Place.
  • CellaTella
    Great
Love all the information shared and the explicit directions. Their conversation flows well and is engaging. I feel the show deserves five stars - but here are my negative critiques: the cover photo is so cute but doesn’t work for the little square on my phone - because of the dark/light contrast, I always see just a woman squatting. (Updated to add that they have now changed their photo to something much cuter) The theme music doesn’t match the show. It sounds like a monkey jungle song and is jarring in my earbuds. The trailers are so annoying - they clog up my feed and I delete them every time. I don’t understand having the trailers and no other podcast does that for regular show. Again, five star show, but these bug me every time. I just don’t get the need and I see that other people agree with me.

    Sponsor/sorry
Love the podcast and have been listening for several years. But sorry having ADF as a sponsor/advertiser whose mission is to limit women’s and LBGTQ rights means I can no longer listen and support.

    Please stop adding trailers
Show is ok, I’d like to keep listening but I don’t want to subscribe because the 2 minute trailers junk up my storage and podcast library. Show is good but we’re not dying for a sneak preview of it!
