    Best sumo minutiae and empathy
O… that’s not a letter that is a big white circle win emoji. Look. I’ve said some vicious things about this “team” in the past, we all have, but that chapter ended today. At one point the guy mentioned that he missed a bout because he had to get some cured meats. I wish they’d have stayed right there and done some cured meat talk for about 20 minutes because this is the stuff. Yes we all love the sumo, but knowing that these experts have been aficionado’s of meat all along cured the meat beating in my chest that has hurt for too long. These are my people. Forget everything I said about their voices, toss away the eq knob Mainichi are perfect!

A Daily Essential During Each Basho
Nothing else can quench your thirst for sumo during the Basho like Sumo Mainichi. The hosts are funny and light hearted making for great banter and I applaud their diligence in putting out an episode every day of every basho. They are the heroes we need but that we do not deserve.

    Honest and Insightful Sumo Coverage
Many times I’ve thought of leaving a review of this excellent Sumo Mainichi podcast. Today, however, out of my mind, I found my body penning this glowing appraisal! Sumo is amazing! That is a statement, not just of feeling, but of fact. Dave and Amy bring fresh and honest coverage of each day’s sumo matches. They explain the esoteric underpinnings of sumo, the technique applied by the rikishi, and what’s really going on as time is warped during a bout on the dohyō. I’ve often wondered what is it I enjoy so much about listening to Sumo Mainichi? Why do I look forward to it with such eagerness? The answer is joy! Not just on Nakabi, but on every day’s podcast, Dave and Amy bring joy as they celebrate the wonderful martial art of sumo! Much laughter is shared! If you enjoy sumo, but are not listening to Sumo Mainichi, you’re missing out on a great pleasure and you’re only getting half of the picture. Only the JSA South brings these insights. Thank you, Dave and Amy, for generously sharing your love of sumo with us! -Matt

    Volume up please
Great pre, during & post basho coverage. Only problem is y’all record with the volume so low. I can’t hear you over everything else with my osha limited 85db noise deadening head phones. Please record louder. Remember we can always turn it down but the volume limit is the limit. I’ll happily upgrade to 5 stars if you’ll record at a higher level. Thanks.

    The Goldilocks of Sumo 👌🏼
Not too over my head with stats and technical talk, not too silly. Just the right amount of funny and also very knowledgeable. This is the podcast I immediately listen to every episode and use to follow along with the Basho. Listening to Amy and Dave feels like sitting around and talking about sumo with friends. ❤️

    The best.
By far my favorite Sumo podcast. Super informative and entertaining. As a dude on the east coast of the USA, day by day coverage of each basho really rocks.

Best way to enjoy a basho!
After catching up on the day’s matches, there’s nothing better than tuning in to Sumo Mainichi to hear the recap and discussion. It feels like hanging out with a group of fun, well-informed, sumo-loving friends.

Fantastic Recaps with extras thrown in
If you’re an American Sumo fan, chances are you’re pretty lonely outside of Reddit. Fortunately you have Sumo Manichi, which is the closest thing this Sumo fan has found to talking to two friends about a great Basho. Each tournament day, I watch the action, then I take a walk and listen to the podcast. And even though I know all the results, it’s like I get to relive the action one more time and see it through a see it from a different perspective. Great stuff.

    Top quality sumo content
I really enjoy the daily recaps of the basho—the consistency and quality of Amy and Dave’s output is truly impressive. And the extra segments they’ve started including (like the karaoke corner) are a real treat. Thanks for the great podcast guys!

    Great Sumo Understanding
New to Sumo this year. This crew has been helping me gain greater understanding and appreciation for the sport. Happy to wake up watch Sumo Natto, hit the road, and then play Sumo Mainichi. I can pronounce the Rikishi’s names better and learned the term Henka from this podcast and why it’s frowned upon. Big thanks.

    Best Sumo Podcast
Being on the other side of the world it’s hard for me to stay up every night for the basho...but when I wake up up at 4AM and I’m trying to combat the demons Sumo Mainichi is there! Amazing that they cover everyday and with such quick turnaround! Straightforward and funny...keep it up!

    Great dedication to daily podcasts
It is unbelievable to me that these two post daily during the entirety of the bashos. They have a great spirit and I never tire of hearing their tales on the match-ups. Seeing as how I watch the matches when I wake up, this podcast immediately follows. Love it.

Aloha from Virginia USA to the best daily Yūshō coverage!
I try to catch the NHK world highlights daily at 1830 (EST) and sometimes at work at 1230 (shhh). I then follow up with NattoSumo to catch all bouts they don’t cover. I always end the day with a pipe and Sumo Mainichi for their lovely breakdown of each match. They do an excellent job doing deeper dive into the matches and drama that is Sumō! Thanks for your hard work a dedication!
