    Best Hardcore Punk Pod
Maybe it’s an ol head bias, maybe it’s old school 619, but this is my favorite genre pod. They cover old stuff that makes me reconsider my prejudices about certain niches in the early eras. They pull my coat on new favorites (shout out NightFever: Kopenhagen HC). Keep up the work lads. Thank you for the show and the effort.

    It’s still on
This show was pretty cool . They interviewed a lot of old hardcore/Nardcore /punk people. Then that stopped. It became about lists and discussions of lists . Not sure about the direction change. I haven’t listened in a year or two . I always check it tho .

    Nardcore for Life!
Just moved to the 805. Oxnard is the sickest. This pod does a great job capturing that energy and beyond past and present.

    Changed my musical existence
To make a long story short, I work a lot and have a lot going on. Also, I’ve always loved hardcore. This podcast has helped streamline my music listening with the playlists and with the references to similar or influential bands to the ones being highlighted. It’s not an exaggeration to say there’s a before and after this podcast as far as my ability to keep up with the fast paced world of punk and hardcore. Example- someone mentions offhand the band Irate on their workout playlist, and now, that’s one of my favorite bands.

    Legendary Pod
Dope podcast is an understatement. Very knowledgeable group of dudes. You can tell their grasp on hardcore and its history from just listening to a couple minuets of a random convo they have. Besides that they have guests from within the scene, they review music, talk about different periods and sub cultures within every era of the hardcore scene. Plus, every episode comes with a playlist so you can hear the songs and artists mentioned.

If you love hardcore, you have to listen to this pod. The “super 7’s” are the best. Love the regulars and the guests. Learning more about the bands I’ve loved for 20+ years and new perspectives on classic albums (as well as new bands) is awesome.

What’s up, everyone? This pod is da best.
I wish I could say I’ve been listening since Episode 1 (The Legend Joe Rivas), but having hopped on at Episode 6 (the best dressed man on the pod, Dan Sant), I can safely say this is one of, if not da best hardcore punk rock podcasts out there. Now is a great time to jump on. It’s a good mix of structured, very informative interviews and more loose and fun talk about punk and hardcore in general, old and new. But do yourself a favor and dig in the archives. Zack has some great interviews with people spanning different eras and areas of Southern California, with an emphasis on his hometown Nardcore scene. 185 has something for everyone. If you were into hardcore in the 00s and lived on the west coast, you should enjoy the cast of characters. If you’re a historian or music nerd, you’ll probably learn a thing or two. And if you’re still actively into punk and hardcore, it’s not all “back in my day.” They still talk and push new bands and records all the time.

Lots of laughs and interesting information
Funny commentary and interesting historical dives into your favorite punk and hardcore scenes. Awesome interviews and i always go down the super 7 playlist rabbit hole. Find new songs or relive the songs that shaped your younger years!

You get the knowledge and the power!
This is a real fun listen, the interviews are well done and come from a place of passion so there don’t seem to be too many blind spots or omissions in the question dept. The group discussions are great, seemingly simple topics or trivia is SO MUCH FUN when these guys dive in. An interesting collection of ppl w/great insight to how hardcore works and why we love it so much.

    It rocks
I’m from Raleigh NC and never realized how little I know about west coast hardcore. Obviously love black flag and circle jerks, but I honestly don’t know a lot of the bands you guys name drop which makes me excited. There’s still some digging left to do. Only really been hype to Cali hc as of recent. Cali been killin it lately.

    Nardcore Forever
Started from the beginning with episode 1, the legend Joe Rivas. This podcast is a great in depth documentary of hardcore punk rock music from my local hometown of Oxnard California. Taught me a ton of stuff I didn’t know and re-enforced the knowledge I had. If you’re interested in old school hardcore music from Southern California definitely check this out!

Excellent documentation of hardcore in the Oxnard and San Diego regions
Zack Nelson is a true music historian, always digging to get to the bottom of the stories behind legendary hardcore punk bands from the So Cal scene. 185 Miles South is an indispensable resource for any fan of the genre. 6 stars.
  • Irdrumr
Great interviews and stories about the Land of Nard
Nardcore wasn’t just a punk rock scene. To many it was a way of life. Zack does an excellent job at depicting that lifestyle, with the music at its center.

    No Fugazi deep dives!!!
This podcast is a great listen if you’re over 40 and like to get nerdy about the core for over an hour or two. My teenager says “you’re such a dad” when I listen to this. Rest assured that there are no Fugazi deep dives and I hope that continues, even after January 15th. - Jarrod (@casualtyofthecore)
