Stand-Up #13

Comedians Joe Dombrowski (former elementary school teacher) and co-host Gaspare Randazzo (current high school teacher) discuss the chaotic life in and out of the classroom, the nuances of parenting toddlers, and pretty much all things millennial. Each episode is different. Sometimes they'll bring you a Hollywood guest such as comedian Anjelah Reyes-Johnson or renowned School Psychologist Dr.Jody Carrington. Sometimes they might read emails from fans, riffing on their unbelievable, real life, classroom stories. Other times they might argue over the most realistic conspiracy theories. You never know!

    Gasper
Gasper makes this podcast unlistenable. The constant interruptions with nonsense are incredibly annoying. Also how can he be a teacher when he knows nothing and can’t pronounce words correctly? Joe is great and should find a new cohost.

    Laughing on the Lawn Mower
HI YOU GUYS! I am a first grade teacher so, obviously, I had the summer off and had more free time. Let me set the scene… I have a big yard so it takes me about an hour and a half to cut my grass with the lawn tractor. I typically cut it when everyone on my road drives by on their way home from work in the evening. 🌾🚜 I live in a good ol' rural township in Northeast PA, where we have monthly township meetings. There were several people from my road at the meeting who approached me and said, “It’s so nice to see you in your yard so happy. What do you listen to on your headphones that’s so funny? You’re always like, cackling on your tractor.” So I told them about this podcast and how I’m OBSESSED! They said they would have to check it out because they need more laughter in their lives. Thank you both, so much, for keeping this teacher laughing and smiling in the classroom and on the lawn tractor! P.S. Please come to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area! So many of my teacher friends listen. PLUS I just gave you some new listeners who also have large yards… and will most likely be laughing on their mowers too! 😉

    One of the best podcasts!
I’m typically not the type to write reviews on podcasts but this one I feel the need to do it. As someone who loves to laugh at life’s absurdities and is a comedian as part of my income revenue, I cannot get enough of both Joe & Gaspare. Extremely hysterical and good people. This show gets me off on the right foot every Monday with my cup of coffee in tote. Many laugh out loud moments that will stick with you long afterwards. If you’re looking for a comedy show that you will keep coming back to week after week, this is THE one. Much love and laughter always! P.S. check out The Social Studies Patreon for a lot of cool bonuses that you’ll be sure to adore!

As a teacher’s partner, I love the show
My partner started as a teacher in fall of 2020 and this podcast helped us laugh through the pain. Now we love binging it while on roadtrips from Denver to Seattle (heyo Joe!) and love hearing about all the insane stuff y’all have to say about everything Btw, Gaspare, I can’t get enough of your voice ever since you collabed with CS188 on “Incredibly Hot Dullicious Pizza” around the 2m45s mark

    No Friends No problem
I have listened to this podcast since Joe went Viral (this first time). Now with Gaspare the comedy duo is perfected *chefs kiss* As a long time listener and fan who has been to a show in person I feel like these two besties are my friends too. So grateful for the podcast that makes me feel like I have two buddies chatting it up, in the car, on a drive, doing paperwork. Good commentary for any setting (not so for much children).

    So happy I found you!
I recently started looking for a podcast that I could just truly enjoy and have fun listening to. I stumbled upon this podcast and never looked back. I listen to you guys every day when I am getting ready for work, getting ready for bed, and plenty of times in between. I am constantly laughing at the banter and often find myself wanting to talk back to you guys. Thank you thank you thank you for just being you. Y’all are the best.

I forgot what I was talking about
Are you in your late 30s and recently undergone evaluations to find out if you have ADHD? Do you love to garden? Ever been to Kenya? I have. Do you enjoy doing puzzles but forget about it for 2 years even though it’s in your kitchen? Have you ever created a new cookie one time and it changed your life but you could never get it right again because you forgot to write the recipe down because you bake with your heart? Have you recently been diagnosed as an elder millennial with ADHD? Oh, I said that. Anyway, I love falling asleep listening to murder podcasts. Oh right, Social Studies (Least favorite subject in school. I was expected to remember all 50 states? Somehow I do). This podcast is for you. 10/10. I guess 5/5. Same thing.

This podcast makes me laugh so hard every week! Joe and Gaspare are the best! I can’t wait for the next episode.

    Peed my pants!
These two are so funny… I have peed my pants twice while listening (once I might have been 8mo pregnant, but still) 😂 The ADHD from both makes it that much better! I find myself talking back to them like we are all sitting on the couch chatting together! Best part of my week 🤣🤣

    The Highlight of my morning
Listening to both of you is the highlight to my morning. Every day while I’m getting ready to teach the future of America, I listen to Joe and Gaspare. I’m regaled by their stories of teaching, their real life experiences, and the Did you know episodes have taught me a lot about people and places I did not know about. Listening to Joe and Gaspare add the silver lining to my days as a teacher. It’s amazing to me that we all are practically living the same realities when it comes to the anecdotes they share about their classroom experiences. Frankly it makes me feel less alone and not so crazy! So thank you both for your humor, your antics, and just for being you! I appreciate you both so much. Keep doing what you’re doing and I’ll keep listening how I’m listening. Bree E.

    Big Fun Podcast!
Joe and Gaspare are the most fun to listen to as I start my day getting ready for school. They tickle me with their banter and make me laugh with their stories. I will say I had to skip ahead of all the raw chicken eating discussion. ICK! I saw Joe in Nashville and he was SO much fun! I love Gaspare’s gravelly voice and accent! I would love to see him in person as well. Keep up the awesome work, but please no more raw meat eating conversations! :)

    Can’t wait for Tacoma!!
My favorite podcasts. I love these two so much. I just bought my tickets to see Joe in Tacoma. It’ll be my partner’s first live comedy show, & we’re in the premium seats, so I’m beyond excited for him to have a “crowd work” experience!! Keep up the great work J & G & give my love to Mama Fran♥️

    HI-LARIOUS
Such a big fan of this podcast but let me tell ya…ya gotta check out the YouTube version of the podcast so you can see the nonsensical antics that go on! Gaspare being Gaspare. Joe being utterly flabbergasted at Gaspare being Gaspare. The accents, the faces, the laughter - it IS the moment 😂

    Mean
So, I’ve listened for years but the latest episode of Joe just being mean to a person he didn’t like a comment from was beyond too much for me. Kinda like seeing his true colors shine. Unfortunate

    Not just for teachers!
The Social Studies Podcast is the absolute best! I cannot say enough about these two guys. They make me laugh out loud and keep me listening on a regular basis! I can’t get enough. You don’t have to be a teacher or work in a school to enjoy their banter. Keep it coming guys!
  • Saucy77
Laugh out loud and learn something too!
Joe and Gasper are the perfect pair! I love listening to their weekly banter, lessons and sometimes random convos! I love to catch up on all things social studies on road trips and go back to older episodes when I’m caught up! You need to listen to this hilarious duo!

    My favorite podcast!
I have not been listening to this podcast for very long, but I knew after the first couple episodes that I was going to love this podcast. I listen to it before I go to sleep so I can get a couple of laughs in before I go to bed. This podcast always finds a way to make me chuckle and laugh out loud. Joe and Gaspare are truly a one of a kind pair.
  • MrsDrJohnston
Listen if you need a laugh!
Joe and Gas are the perfect combination of great friendship conversation, funny family stories, life happenings and ADHD to keep you on your toes! I am constantly smiling and laughing when I listen to these two. Also, you don’t have to be a teacher to love these guys. Finally, Joe was amazing at his Denver show and I hope Gas makes it to Colorado soon!

    Ohia!
Hiya Joe and Gaspar! I’ve been listening to Joe for about a year and love that Gaspar has joined the podcast. Such a juxtaposition of personalities that mesh into a totally hilarious and sometimes serious blend of the many thoughts racing around in both of your heads. Please please come to NE Ohio! OHIA is reserved for those special folks south of Columbus, we will give you the welcome you deserve! Thanks for the laughs and I want Blippy to apologize personally on the podcast; especially for the excavator song.

    Like Teachers Friends
I listen to the podcast on the reg driving to work at the school. It’s a hilarious or intriguing conversation with other adults before I get to my middle-schooler ridiculousness all day. I feel like it prepares me well for the day. I love laughing, and I love learning new things. It’s a big part of my morning I look forward to and just helps me get my mind ready for the day. I love it!

Chicken Soup For My Twisted Soul
As I begin my 24th year of teaching it goes without saying that I am BURNED OUT!!! But Joe and Gaspare give me something to laugh out loud about on my morning drives. The other teachers laugh at me because when I pull into the school lot I am always cackling so loud you can hear me with my windows up! I giggle all the way to the door. I caught Joe’s show in Cincy and dragged my husband to see him, and he loved him too. At this stage in the game my spirit is jaded and my soul is a little twisted when it comes to my job, so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for reminding exactly how uplifting laughter can be. You both are an absolute joy to listen to and keep me going! (Gaspare, come to Cincy, I’d love to see you in person!!)

    Guaranteed good time
This podcast is a guaranteed good time. I listen on my way to work and the way Gasper and Joe go back and forth kills me. It is a great start to my morning drive to work as well as relaxing in my drive home. It is full of fun and knowledge and I share this podcast with everyone I know.

    So good!
Holy cow. This is really the only podcast I’ve been able to get into. I don’t know if it’s my ADHD or what, but with other podcasts I just find myself tuning out and thinking of something else… I LOVE LOVE LOVE these guys! They have me crying laughing. Topics are so relatable and funny! Can’t wait to see them live!

    Love the show!
As an escaped former Pre K teacher, I thought this podcast resonated with me being an educator but the truth is it’s just because Joe and Gaspere are such wonderful people with the most amazing friendship. I laugh so hard every episode, it feels like being silly with old friends. 🩷
  • AshleyAnne832
    LOVE!
The only podcast I listen to! Love Joe and Gas! They’re awesome and hilarious! Great podcast for teachers and muggles too!
  • GabbyGbby
    Hilarious
This podcast used to be about teaching. Now it’s about whatever thought floats into Gaspare’s head and what Joe has to say about it. Their friendship is so heart warming even though they are complete opposites; Joe is a healthy, eco friendly, NW boy and Gas is out in NY watering his plans with old motor oil he found in his shed. I die laughing every time and feel like I’m just visiting with old buddies.

Got me through my first marathon!
I started hitting a wall around mile 19 and I switched from my music to this podcast. I always think it’s entertaining, but it literally powered me through the end of the marathon. Thanks for the laughs guys!

Finally did it- thank you and you’re welcome!
After being reminded for the reviews in each episode, I am sorry it took me so long to actually do it. These guys are the best and this is my favorite podcast- offering a full spectrum of the humorous observations and facts of life. Love the brotherly chemistry between Gaspare and Joe! I look forward to seeing Joe LIVE in Houston soon and my only hope is Gaspare gets down here in the near future. Thanks for all the wonderful episodes and you’re finally welcome for the rating/review! Britt in H-Town

Love listening to this podcast with Joe and Gaspare. They are so funny and it always makes me laugh and smile when I’m having a hard day 🙂.

Spot on hilarious commentary about teaching and beyond!
Long-time listener, first time reviewer! I discovered the Social Studies podcast about three years ago, and have been listening ever since. Joe always had me cracking up about his take on education and students. Then came the permanent addition of Gaspare and it was genius! Joe and Gaspare have me laughing out loud during my commute each and every episode! I have recommended this podcast to educators and not educators alike. I most recently recommended it to my Senior pre-service teachers college students. I described it to them as listening to “your two hilarious cousins talking at the family reunion”! You need to listen to this podcast EVEN if you aren’t a teacher. Highly recommend this podcast!
  • Gbella24
    Leaves me wanting more!
I absolutely love this duo! I started listening when I got hired as an elementary school counselor back in 2020 and have been hooked since. The addition of Gaspare has been perfection! I find myself answering their ridiculous questions while driving alone in my car and have come near to swerving because they have my laughing so hard. No teaching certificate required to get a kick out of these two- give it a shot!

    These guys…
I’m not a mom, I’m not a teacher, and I’m not a podcast person, yet I can’t get enough of Joe and Gaspare’s open relationship with ADHD. I’ve never had the patience to listen to long podcasts, nor have I found a subject matter that interests me enough to stay tuned in for more than a few minutes. With Gaspare and Joe, however, you never know where the conversation will go, or how many topics they manage to squeeze into 30-60 minutes. Adding “Did You Know” was a fun addition, with a fun song that cracks me up. It’s kind of like they’re still feeling out the vibe of Did You Know, but in traditional Social Studies fashion, the title may or may not reflect the actual topics discussed. Both are fun, light, I laugh, I love, and I appreciate. I’ve chatted with Gaspare on Instagram, I’ve posted something relevant on the gram and tagged the guys and they actually mentioned it on the following pod. I love when Gas talks about or even has his kids on (they’re so great), and I can’t wait for Joe to have kids because the way he talks to/about children is beautiful as well as silly. Both men are awesome examples of wonderful humans, who just happen to be very very funny. Love you guys

    Five star review
I have been listening to a podcast since the panny When I discovered it, I was completely hooked. I literally am just now figuring out how to leave a review. Joe, I love listening to your stories about meeting and life in general. Having Gasper join the podcast as been amazing. I love listening to y’all, talk and interact with one another. He reminds me of my dad with all of his useless knowledge. Thank you for making the podcast and adding another day to your podcast. I hope to see y’all live this summer!
  • amandalass
    Super Entertaining
I stumbled across this podcast, being familiar with Joe’s comedy from social media (his verbatim readings of things children write kill me). I figured Joe and Gaspare were old friends because their rapport and comedic timing are amazing. I’m in rural Montana and hope to see them live sometime, I keep hearing about shows in places I used to live. When they were talking about the random ostrich farm in Arizona between Phoenix and Tucson I knew immediately what they’re talking about haha. The episodes are always super funny and I learn something even if it’s weird information.
  • Lucy2014CA
    Hysterical!
Love Joe and Gaspare! This podcast is a wild ride. By the end, you’ll be questioning your pronunciation of all words and measuring things by how many ants they weigh.

    Can’t Get Enough!
Joe and Gaspare are a breath of fresh air and keep me laughing all the way to work Mondays and Thursdays! I find myself referring back to their witty anecdotes and relatable content and have converted my friends and family into listeners. All I can hope for now is a more frequent episode drop!

    Can’t get enough!

    🤣Side-splittingly Funny & Informational🤣
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟The podcast is awesome (🤣side-splittingly funny & informational🤣) & I HIGHLY recommend it but, I worry that there's going to come a day when I can't just find a new podcast to listen to because I'm all caught up with listening to all the old ones LOL. I have been known to relisten to podcasts so, I'll just have to be satisfied with that. Keep up the great work, gentlemen!!! I enjoy ALL the content you both put out 👏👏.
