The Well Minded Podcast with Master Therapist Lynn Matti

424

I help people understand themselves better, make sense of their feelings, and learn from resentments and disappointments by using a heart-centered and holistic approach. We all want to live an authentic and fulfilling life...sometimes we just need a little help. Two of our most basic needs are to be connected and to feel loved. Without these, we feel a lack of purpose and isolated. When we feel alone, disconnected and insecure, we’re filled with negative thoughts and feelings of guilt and shame. Left unattended and unvalidated, these feelings take root, growing into resentments and increasingly unhealthy behaviors. If we lack positive feelings about ourselves it's difficult to trust, communicate and feel safe in the world.I offer you a space to be listened to without judgment. A place of safety. And, when you are ready, a new perspective backed by a toolbox full of good techniques to uniquely help you reconnect with your inner world and improve your relationships. We tune into and check out your long held beliefs. We quiet those unkind unconscious messages and turn up your self confidence by identifying and supporting your strengths.

This podcast is beneficial for people in all different stages of life!
Lynn’s Podcast has been just as helpful as my weekly meetings with my therapist. A multitude if topics are talked about which not only help you live a better life, but also to do so with more ease, day by day. I’m so glad I found this podcast!

    Stop Reading and Talk
Interesting stuff but it sounds like you’re reading a script and it makes it hard to listen.

    Grateful authenticity
Entering the 5th year of my recovery journey, I’m grateful I discovered Lynn’s podcast. She’s an excellent guide who encourages me to listen to my inner voice of truth while learning from the past.

    Everyone can benefit
Lynn synthesizes mental health literature with her experience as a human and a therapist, in a way that makes sense with the challenges we all face in the technologically connected, fast moving world.

    Wonderful and inspirational
Found this podcast as I was beginning my journey to sobriety. Lynn was filled with wonderful information, research, positive energy, and experience that everyone who is going through this process needs. I listen to her podcasts over and over again and each time learn something new. Thank you Lynne for all of your time and energy towards helping people.

    Great Podcast!!
Stumbled across this podcast when searching for sobriety stories and gave it a shot. Lynn is easy to listen to and has great nuggets of wisdom, therapy and sobriety rolled up into one! It’s a great listen and is one more piece to my holistic approach to my recovery!

    Good info
Lynn does a great job presenting some of the psych and brain science that explains what we’re experiencing in recovery. Listen on 1.5x speed. She confuses the emotional immaturity we may have with intellectual immaturity.

    Sober Soul Rocks!
I have been listening to this pod cast for almost a year on my morning walks with my dog and love it so much. For the longest time this was the only thing I was doing for myself In recovery. I have been contemplating going fully sober for awhile and would listen even when I was drinking. Lynn shares so many fantastic resources! I have decided to commit to my sobriety I am truly grateful to Lynn for all her research and expertise in the field. Truly a treasure trove of information!

    Great information, too much talk
This podcast is full of amazing and helpful information. I was so excited to begin my journey with this podcast. That said— the podcasts are long and the golden nuggets of helpful information are buried among lots of excessive talk. I can only listen for 10-15 minutes at a time. Also, the pdf’s she says you can download for her website are no longer available. Super disappointed!

    REAL recovery
Lynn Matti is the real deal. There are lots of sober “advocates” and influencers out there but if you want concrete, knowledgeable advice from a highly trained professional this is it. Her extensive background and education in the recovery field is evident in this podcast and in her personal coaching services. Be very careful who you take advice from, Lynn is the best of the best and a highly trusted resource in the field. I find her voice and humor refreshing and adds a sense of realness to what could otherwise feel like very clinical/textbook advice. Hearing from her own personal experiences and stories is helpful in the greater context. I found series in the dark early days of recovery and it has remained a source of comfort and inspiration throughout my sober journey. Thank you Lynn Matti for everything you are doing in this field!

Great podcast for any soul just trying to be their best self!
I found this podcast as a sober soul looking to grow and heal. I found tools to help me navigate these uncertain times and all the conflicting emotions that come with it. I find the hosts’ voice soothing and her quirky sense of humor puts me at ease. This podcast will feed your hungry sober soul 😇

    Not for me
I tried the first couple of episodes and it’s not for me. It was very boring and sounded like a script was being read in an upbeat voice rather than a person just talking
  • please talk better
    Content good but
I find the content of this podcast to be great. But what I find to be difficult is the hosts voice. She sounds so overwhelmingly upbeat, it is draining to me. Imagine you were in your early days of recovery and not feeling so positive. To be faced with someone who sounds extremely sunny is unappealing and unrelatable. Its also distracting because its ALL THE TIME, even during phrases that aren’t sunny topics, which makes no sense. It feels like she’s is trying way too hard. If you’re willing to sound a bit more neutral, you have an opportunity to gain more listeners.
  • Enough about Lynn...
    Too self focused…where’s the “meat?”
Although I appreciate some of the content of this podcast, I find it tiresome to wade through the typical lecture format and “opinion sharing” that begins most episodes. Way too much about Lynn and not enough about providing unbiased help for her audience. Also agree with other reviewers about the voice issue…comes across as “fake” and I find that off-putting. When I do listen I find myself fast-forwarding through a good deal of the beginning of each episode in search of what the episode is purported to be about…
  • woodrae
    Classless
Your public criticism (using names!) of others in the recovery community is unprofessional and classless. I won’t be wasting any more time listening to someone who is judgmental, jealous and petty.

    I like this podcast
As a person who loves sweets, I’ve discovered that the migraines I have had thrive when I indulge my sweet tooth. Originally, I searched out podcasts about sobriety for a friend, I realized that this podcast has been super helpful in finding out for myself I continue to seek out sweets even though they cause me harm. I really enjoy listening to Lynn’s podcasts, finding them insightful and figure lots of others will find them as helpful as I have. I find your voice very soothing. Thanks for all the work you do in making this podcast weekly.

    Solid stuff
I am just starting to make changes in my life in terms of an alcohol problem. I also just started listening to this podcast and am finding it down to earth and helpful. I initially listened to a couple of her recent podcasts but I am going to go back to the beginning and see if I can get the full benefits.

I love this podcast. Thank you ! It has been a great companion on my road of giving up drinking. It’s always a good thing to put on when I start to get squirly and appreciate all of the varied topics !

    Love, love, love this podcast
I have 5 1/2 years sobriety under my belt this go around and life is what I never knew I missed before. I found serenity. I work with women and hear gems all the time from Lynn that help my own recovery and to pass along to others in their journey. I appreciate that the topics cover such a variety of topics and give actionable suggestions. Thank you for continuing to share of yourself Lynn.

    Wow
I feel so late to this party. I wish I had had this wonderful resource during the pandemic, although it's still such a gem. I am hoping to join the group that is discussed in one of the older episodes if it in fact still exists. Such good solid advice. Practical, straight forward conversations about sometimes tricky and dense topics. I am so grateful for this podcast, especially heading into holiday season! I am sure as I navigate celebrating with my family of origin I will be returning to these episodes. Much gratitude!

    Asking for 5 star reviews
I actually enjoy your insight. Very interesting and enlightening. Sometimes your message of how to tackle some issues is unclear. I do not think it’s appropriate that you ask for 4-5 star reviews so you remain on top of recovery podcasts on iTunes. Sure ask for reviews, but there is no reason to share the amount of stars you need or your marketing plans. This is the second episode where you have mentioned “leave me a good review.” In recovery, you should know that constructive criticism also helps you grow in life and in your professions.

Good podcast overall, I’m just annoyed by how female focused she tends to be and the fake voice is nearly unbearable if not for the mostly good info.

    Best advice on recovery!
IMHO, this ( and a couple other Christian recovery podcasts) , this woman is spot on!!! Listen!!!

    Excellent Psycho-educational Talks
You don’t have to be recovering from an addiction to benefit from her talks. I’m very impressed! She sums up in one podcast what could take 20 sessions in counseling to learn! Excellent for self-help. My friend said people who have addictions are escaping from an intolerable reality. I can see her skill gets at the root causes to why people get themselves into situations that they do. I recommend her talk on childhood emotional neglect! Thank you!

    So Helpful
I just found this podcast and I’m so grateful I did. I feel like I was flailing alone in an ocean and a life vest just happened to float by. I started at the beginning and I’m going to listen to one a day while put some space between me and my past with alcohol. Thank you, Lynn!
  • Shimcat7
    Wow!!
Lynn is the best!! I was actually fortunate enough to have a very great conversation with her about some recent life changes, and while brief, it was extremely helpful and gave me some good insight on my situation! Having someone who is not only a knowledgeable therapist, but is also in recovery like myself (22 years this January), is invaluable!! Thanks again Lynn, and I’ll be keeping you posted on my progress! 😉🙌

    Thank you, Lynn
Lynn, I began listening in October last year... Man was I clueless as to how hard this road to recovery can be. Over the last 12 months I have felt on top of the world & so inspired, but I’ve also felt loneliness, desperation, and disgust with myself. One thing has remained consistent, listening to this podcast restores my Hope, reminds me that I am worth it and that I am not alone. Thank you 🙏🏽 ❤️

    Can’t say enough
I absolutely love this podcast. I’m newly sober and found this podcast maybe two weeks ago, and have listened nearly everyday. It is a true game changer for my sobriety. Lynn reminds me subtly of my own counselor, she has the soft voice that I find soo comforting and I haven’t found an episode that I haven’t benefited from mentally. Thank you so much Lynn for all that you do for the sober community. Much love from north Atlanta 🍑

    Thank you Lynn!!
I’ve learned more in the past few days listening to Lynn’s podcasts than in all my years in therapy AND 34 years in AA. Incredible teachings around boundaries, shame and communication that I’ve never heard explained as well anywhere else. Thank you Lynn!

    Peace of mind
I was desperately searching for some peace of mind in dealing with my overactive brain. I stumbled across this podcast & now I can’t quit listening! I can identify with SO much of this content. Oddly enough, I live in GA as well, so this feels even more close to home!

    Thankful for this amazing podcast
I am a 39-year-old mom of three girls recovering from what Lynn has taught me would be a moderate to severe substance abuse disorder. I am 240 days sober!!! Lynn, thank you! You are helping me learn healthier coping skills and you do so with so much love and light. God bless you!

    Bored and uninspired
Thank you for today’s podcast. I appreciate your ability to break down very complicated emotions/subjects into bite sized pieces that I can chew on. You touched on some feelings that I have struggled to identify and/or completely admit to myself. You’re very talented- thank you for being here!
  • Zippitydoda321
    Another great episode
Thanks Lynn! As always, this week’s episode (8/3) was exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve definitely been struggling with feeling blah & uninspired at this point in the pandemic. Looking forward to digging into the references you recommended.

    Thank You
Thank you, Lynn, for showing up right on time in my personal journey with alcohol recovery. I’ve been working in the medical field for years and not once thought I needed help for ANYTHING. Even worse, I work as a personal trainer and nutrition coach with my own wellness brand and somehow struggle to help myself be well. You’re also inspirational - I enjoyed learning how you went back to school in your forties to do what you do now. I too would like to go back to school and study psychology and become a therapist but thought it was impossible now that I’m in my thirties - I simply thought I was in over my head. I’m just so so grateful to have come across your podcast and website. THANK YOU. 🙏🏽

    A meaningful recovery
This podcast has been such a great addition to my recovery toolbox. Listening to someone so knowledgeable in the recovery space is so enlightening. Don’t get me wrong, I love anecdotes and story telling but when it comes down to it Lynn really knows her stuff. She helps her listeners dig deep. Sobriety for me is not only abstaining but getting to the root of the problem so I can live a more balanced and healthy life. She has helped me uncover so much that I had no idea was there. My recovery feels so much more sustainable with the right information. PS I show everyone the feelings wheel!!

    Staying Afloat
I just got out of detox. I am a veteran living in Seattle and my care team was the utmost professional, loving and knowledgeable- (to say the least). I’ve now started participating in 3 all-female veteran’s groups & I’m feeling so safe and strong as I recover from an intense 8-month relapse. Your insights on boundaries, triggers, trauma responses and Childhood Emotional Neglect have been the medicine for the meantime. You reach me. Thank you!!!!!
  • Debbie_58
    Thankful Soul
Thank you, Lynn, for this podcast! It is so much more than a resource for living a sober life. She provides tools for living a healthy life in general with a focus on how to “live through” anxiety, stress, and other life challenges. My suggestion for new listeners is to scroll through and randomly choose a topic of interest. You will appreciate her careful selection of words, calming voice, and sense of humor because she speaks the truth. Anyone can get information quickly on the internet or in a book, but with Lynn it is spoon fed so that you can understand and more importantly relate. Dive in and be ready for lots of a-ha moments.

    AMAZING
Lynn is the best!!!! Each podcast is better then the last. She truely believes the importance of self love and the role lack of that plays in my addiction. She makes me feel better about myself and the way she talks makes it feel so personal. I learn so much from in the short time I started listening. I went and started with #1 and working through in order cause I can’t miss out on even one. She and these podcasts are the reason I’m sober today and the tool I need to continue and learn to love myself. She is so educational but explains everything in a simple way that everyone can learn from and understand. Thank you Lynn. You are my lifeline❤️ kmdkfd
