The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett

981
Business #11All Genres #146

A few years ago I was a broke, university dropout, at 18 I built an industry leading social media marketing company, and at 27 I resigned as CEO. At 28 I co-founded Flight Story – a marketing and communications company, and thirdweb - a software platform, making it easy to build web3 applications. I then launched private equity fund, Flight Fund, to accelerate the next generation of European unicorns. During this time I decided to launch 'The Diary Of A CEO' podcast with the simple mission of providing an unfiltered journey into the remarkable stories and untold dimensions of the world’s most influential people, experts and thinkers. Thank you for listening.

    This podcast is Top Tier
I stumbled upon this podcast on YouTube. The funny thing is, I rarely am on YouTube. Two things that kept me there was the questions being asked and the guest. I was, like, oh this is interesting!!! Looked for it on here and been hooked for the last 4 months… I learned so much and I love the variety of subjects and speakers. I, also, appreciate the lack of misogynistic POV.

    Insight &perspective
I listen to many quality podcasts. I have been a guest on Rogan and many top podcasts over the years. I have learned that the biggest differentiator in a quality podcast host is their ability to distill complex information from experts and communicate it to a wider audience by asking key questions that change the way the experts generally communicate. You have absolutely mastered that art. So much valuable insight in your shows. Kudos, my friend.

    Great Guest & Perspective
I’m so glad you had Louise Perry on! Her information is so good and I am so thankful that she is talking about this, and that you had her on your podcast! I hope you find more people like her to interview in the future!

    Subscribed and Followed
Hello! I came here after listening and watching the podcast with Dr Tara Swart and wanted to say how hooked I am to this podcast. I love how thought out each interview is with Steven Bartlett’s guests. And how thoroughly he really brings forth such topics.

    The BEST podcast
    Amazing. Such significant conversations!

    The pregnancy doctor
Hi Steven, this show is great! I just wanted to ask you if you could update this episode. You talked about everything but left out the people who are very fertile. I come from a country ( Uganda) where getting pregnant is so easy. Can I understand why?

Once upon the time was good
The diary of CEO ? Wrong title, older episodes are amazing. Now it’s just another Pod with no direction

Simon Cowell interview is a stand out
The interview with Simon Cowell was so deep and insightful. You truly got to know a completely different side of him from what you see on TV. Such a good person at heart, loving son and a devoted father. Hearing him, choke up over the passing of his parents made me do the same thing thinking of mine. Thanks Stephen for this interview. Definitely one I want to listen to again.

    Good interviews
Steven is a good interviewer in that he is respectful of his guests and keeps the show about them and the topic. He checks his own ego, never takes over, or dominates the conversation while remaining conversant. Refreshing in this age of opinion and personality driven broadcasting.

    Brilliant and beautiful…
Steven, your work is impactful, honest, and of service. Thank you for all you do to contribute valuable content in the world. The Charlamagne episode is one that I hope millions listen to. Deep bow of gratitude. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Great show with diverse topics
I listen to a lot of podcasts and just found this one which is quickly becoming a favorite. The host does a good job interviewing. My favorite part is there is a variety of subjects. A lot of podcasts just stick to one subject area and it gets boring. I enjoy learning about new topics. Keep up the good work.

My mind was just blown in a good way lol
The first time I listened to your podcast was your episode with the lawyer James Sexton. I thought I would leave with some great insight about divorce, which I did, but I also finished listening to this episode with so much love and empathy in my heart. Brilliant episode!!

Love the Podcast - CANNOT STAND YOUR CLICK-BAIT EPISODE TITLES
Please amend the way you title episodes. Oftentimes the episode is a lot more than ‘lose fat fast!’ Rebel Wilson BARELY spoke about Ozempic in her episode. Robert Lustig spoke about a lot more than ‘losing weight fast’. I sometimes feel embarrassed about the titles when I’m sending them to friends and family who I think could benefit. All they se is THEYRE LYING TO YOU ON HOW TO LOSE FAT FAST for an episode about gut health. Please consider titling the episodes with a little more effort and respect.

    The one with Mo
I always enjoy listening to the podcast. It is frequently the one I check first for new episodes before deciding what to listen to. I must say that the recent conversation between Steve and Mo was one of the most beautiful conversations I’ve heard in a very long time. The length initially seemed daunting but once it ended, I wished there was so much more! The insights were profound and beautiful and anyone in any season can glean wisdom from it. Thank you, Steven, for opening your platform and yourself up to the challenging and humbling conversations like the one you had with Mo. Without your willingness to be vulnerable, the rest of us would have missed out on something wonderful. A favorite for sure!

    Fear Porn
I listened to some woman speak in low breathy fear tones about nuclear war. I am not convinced of their existence, and if they do exist, I’m not sure world leaders would want that kind of destruction. I was waiting for her to blame everything on Trump but I couldn’t make it through the dramatic effect. Not that I am a fan of Mr. Trump, but all of the world’s ills seem to be blamed on the man. It gets really boring sometimes. I have seen snippets of this guy’s interviews on YouTube and they always seem interesting. Maybe I picked the wrong subject or maybe the interviews are just not that good.

    Excellent podcast, one suggestion
Thank you to Steven and the team for creating such a powerful and helpful podcast. These episodes are genuinely life changing. I’m fairly new to the podcast and have already felt positive changes in my life from implementing advice and wisdom shared by your guests. One suggestion I have is to change the podcast descriptions, which are short and dramatic but rather clickbaity and off-putting, as others have mentioned. I’ve hesitated listening to some of the episodes because of them, but then did so anyway and felt the shows had much deeper and more profound messages than the initial taglines suggested. The two energies don’t seem to match. You’re all doing an incredible work here; so much gratitude for your efforts and dedication to helping people and the greater world! It’s truly transformative.

Enjoy the podcast. Hate the episode descriptions.
I listen to lots of podcasts but have never left a review before. Enjoy this one, though some guests are more credible than others, and it’s a shame Steven treats them all as equally legitimate. HATE the clickbait episode descriptions. I often don’t listen because of them. Am leaving this review hoping team reads it and makes a change.

    Click-bait titles detract from content
It’s frustrating to come across such a great podcast interviewer who titles each podcast with extreme, click-baitey descriptions/phrases. These titles bring an emotional charge to the context which, over time, gets exhausting, and I have begin to see them as the marketing technique that it is. Steven has the skills and personality to maintain an excellent podcast without devolving to current advertising techniques. Why not let the guest say what they say and have the listener decide how they feel about it? Why oversell it? It feels dirty, that you just want my attention. Take a lesson from Rogan, with his matter of fact descriptions. Nonetheless, Steven is a joy to listen to, an excellent interview who is astute to global issues and life experience which he bring into each podcast. I would listen to him more if not disgusted by the titles.

Julie & John Gottman Episode 🩷
Although I’ve seen (& liked) ‘Steven Bartlett content/sound bites’, this was the first DOAC episode I’ve listened to. LOVED IT. I completely disagree with a previous reviewer who said he turned it into a personal therapy session, and that he should have kept his personal questions and responses out of it. This element of the episode is one of the reasons it was so good. It added humor, and most importantly – relatability!! Of course I loved that guests, and their incredibly helpful information (SO helpful regarding relational conflict of any kind, marriage or otherwise), but Steven’s interview style – especially the personal component is one of the reasons it was so good…and easy to take in the information!! ~a new subscriber.

Had to stop listening when Joe Rogan was mentioned
Joe Rogan is a misogynistic racist. No apologies. Otherwise the discussion was interesting. Ciao

    Avid Podcast Listener Loves This
I listen to a ton of podcasts. Some hosts don’t add anything to the conversation. Some hosts talk too much! Steven does a really nice job of moderating the discussions. He listens intently and adds some great thoughts of his own.

    Tom Dillon episode SO good

    Gottman Doctors Episode
The guests are amazing, but unfortunately this podcaster turned the episode into a personal therapy session about his own relationship, always circling back to himself and his girlfriend on key talking points . It would have been better if he kept all or most of his responses non personal and broad for all listeners, and leading with questions about research and results. Instead he kept the experts information relevant to his own experiences. They have such a wealth of information but all he could probe about was himself. Poorly done.

Weight health expert former power lifter Dr. Layne Norton
This interview with Dr. Layne Norton was so enthusiastically engaging. Dr. Layne Norton-was so informative and sharing his many staging of personal growth kept this segment so interesting to the very end when he spoke of his grandad’s passing brought tears to my eyes and had me relive my own father’s passing. Thank you Dr. Layne Norton for being so open and real, thank you Mr. Bartlett for always asking the intriguing questions to your guests that seem to bring out the answers we’re all waiting for.

    Such A Diverse Thoughtful Podcast
I listen to many podcasts for enrichment, growth and intellectual stimulation. The thoughtful interviews on this podcast and the thoughtfuNESS of these interviews keep me engaged, listening and growing. What a gifted interviewer… he approaches his guests with care, curiosity and expertise. He asks questions… and then listens. Sounds like the way that the format for podcasts should go, but it rarely is. He calls on the expert and then gives them a platform to shine (and teach). Thank you!

    Insightful!
One of my go to podcasts! I have learned more and benefited more from listening to DOAC! Steven is so good at getting the most out of the interviews. In my opinion, nobody is a better interviewer! He gets his guests to feel at ease and really open up. You will not be disappointed listening to DOAC!
  • Hannah!! (: (:
    LOVE!
One of the only podcasts that I have found about business where the host allows the other people to talk! I love that Steven is actively listening and remains curious rather than spending 50% of the show talking about himself/his own experiences. My all time favorite podcast!

I gain so much value from these episodes. Amazing guests with deep insights and actionable recommendations. Huge fan…keep it up!

    New Listener
I started listening to your podcast about 2 months ago. Its a personal goal of mine to listen to all 400+ episodes. At first it was because your like a spark notes version of “how to succeed”. Then it morphed into “what makes me happy? Or what gives me drive?” And now I’m on ep 43 which is by far my favorite episode so far and its become. “What can i learn?” Weather if its about myself or about business or about how to interact with others. I love your podcast i love the way you ask questions and feed our knowledge. And watching you from the start and seeing where you are in 2024. Just wow! Can’t wait to keep learning!

    My Favorite Podcast
Thank you, Steven, for creating a space to learn from the world’s top professionals. I have learned so much & I have become a devote listener. I really enjoy your thoughtful questions that help the listener digest the information. I saw some negative reviews on specific guests… However, I have found some of the topics I initially didn’t think would interest me have been the most profound. This podcast has helped me tremendously! Please don’t let negative comments sway your choices in guests. Keep crushing it-you’re doing amazing work & helping to change many lives.

    Insightful, wholesome, genuine
I just recently stumbled upon clips of this podcast on YouTube and decided to try the whole form audio format and I am not disappointed. Steven is kind, genuine, thoughtful, insightful, and he brings meaningful content. I love the variety, too. He has legitimate experts in various fields. This has quickly become one of my favorites.

I've been living on your podcast lately!
Really appreciate the variety and breadth of information you cover in your podcast: from business to medical to relationships to nutrition from all the greatest and latest. As well as, the research and your openness to vulnerability share about what you're learning and processing. You're a great leader, Stephan!

    Best Growth Podcast Ever!
This is my favorite podcast! Steven has the best guests of any podcast I’ve ever listened to and I learn something new about myself with every episode. He give a lot of information (choices) for you to experiment with to help with life longevity.
  • CallmeAnonny
    Overly skeptical?
Skepticism is good, and I appreciate Bartlett’s questioning of his guests to get at data and evidence and to understand it. But he was skeptical almost to the point of hostility with Dr. Neal Barnard. And for someone who promotes supplementing one’s diet, Bartlett made taking a widely available and expensive vitamin – B 12 - seem burdensome. I enjoy the podcast, but find the episodes varied in quality.

    Fire dr vegan
This is a great show. Worst and most entertaining guest was Dr Vegan. I mean entertaining by-worst!! Most contradicting “DR” I’ve ever heard

    Excellent, interesting and entertaining
I’ve just discovered this podcast and it is my new favorite with great guest selections and a host that is intelligent and engaging.
  • Paulina2024
    “Dr” Neal Barnard
“Cholesterol in animal products raises cholesterol” “Fat from the food goes right into your fat” “Eat your pasta” “carbs and sugar don’t cause diabetes”… and I’m not even 1/3 of the episode. I’m scared what’s coming later! 😱🤣 Oh my goodness…. We are so sick worldwide because of this type of “Drs.” Steven, you still have my 5stars!
  • Kylie.Sann...
A great host, very poor guest screening.
He interviews guests across the spectrum of subjects & does so in a compassionate and interesting way. Unfortunately, he platforms people spreading dangerous misinformation that is easily debunked without a lot of pushback. No doubt it’s hard to find enough content to fill as many slots as he had but if you need to question every sentence that’s said by a guest, it makes it untenable to pay attention to any of the content. It’s not that he’s platforming political content that disagrees with my worldview, that’s great to hear even when I vehemently disagree. It’s quite another to platform blatant medical, health, etc misinformation that’s pretty easily disproven… especially when it’s done with limited pushback. I think he’s a great interviewer and I’d love to come back to this podcast but I think until there is better groundwork done on the guests he chooses to platform, this isn’t a show I’d recommend.

    5 stars- thank you!
This is a quality podcast. Stephen deeply listens to his guests, & is so present & willing to be honest. Some of these episodes have literally changed my life- ie, the Glucose Goddess episode! I also love that there are sometimes contradictory opinions & experts, & it give us as the audience something powerful to consider. Thank you.

    Must listen podcast
This is a top podcast to learn about having a well rounded life. There are a range of topics discussed from wise and insightful people. The questions asked from the host helps simplify some of the technical language from guests and are also thought provoking to dive deep into the minds of the guests.
