What Have You

1,183

Bekah Merkle and Rachel Jankovic are two sisters getting together for a weekly coffee date (in the car) to chat about whatever issues happen to occur to them. They cover the waterfront of topics from confessing sins to sorting the laundry to what books they’re reading at the moment. Unscripted and unfiltered, these two NSA alums invite you to join them for a chat about what have you.

It’s ok to walk away from these people
Ladies, be sure to check out the Sons of Patriarchy podcast!! It will help you understand and give background to these people and the false teachings are very dangerous for you, your husband and YOUR CHILDREN!!

    Gateway Drug
WHY was my gateway drug to Canon and Doug Wilson. The way the sisters talk about being a wife and mother was totally foreign to me, and I grew up in a Christian home! My whole family is incredibly grateful for the work Canon is doing.

Started at the beginning and only a few episodes left until I am caught up
Yes. I started all the way back at episode 1. I have listened to a few episodes a day for about 2 months maybe. These women are my besties without even knowing who I am. I don’t have any Godly women in my life around my age and so this podcast has been such a blessing. Rachel and Bekah have a beautiful sister friendship and its been a joy to listen to them. I have learned a lot! I now stop and repent and make my wrongs right on the spot, their sharing on the self analysis on sin was convicting. I listened as they shared their brothers diagnosis and had him on. I listened as they sat at their parents table cracking up as Doug listened near by and Nancy chimed in. I haven’t picked Bekahs or Rachels side about picking up the apples but I have been thinking about it. I have laughed with them so much. I have been convicted at times, I have implemented some of their advice at times and felt such overwhelming emotion during episodes like wow wow wow. I haven’t been here since the beginning but I am just all caught up now. (My husband thought it was insane to start at the very beginning but I didn’t wanna miss anything and I am glad I didn’t!) These women are real and raw and honest and they love the Lord and they are great wives and mothers and this podcast is a blessing. I hope one day to meet them at Grace Agenda. Lord willing. In the meantime, I will continue to listen in and pretend I’m in the backseat while they chat. Thank you ladies!

How To Be An Awkward Mom
I’ll be honest, I thought it was totally normal to leave your normal clothes on while playing dress up. I was kind of appalled when I heard that people change in front of their friends.

    Sister banter
I find this podcast edifying in my calling as a Christian woman/wife/mother. I usually like deep dives into meaningful content, but lately I just can’t metabolize lengthy, weighty lectures the way I used to. I’m primarily trying to figure out how to keep the gears oiled and ticking while my family life is in full motion instead of trying to halt everything in my life before I begin to address the problems. What I need in this season is a grounding point for lighthearted, normal engagement with daily life ups and downs. I appreciate the interposition of educated/ intelligent insights in relation to ordinary things. I appreciate the sister banter and laughter. It has a weaving and wandering feel. If you’re looking for linear, laid-out bullet points of carefully curated content…this isn’t it. But I feel like I’m grateful to have an eaves-dropping window on two sisters in Christ with whom I feel a spirit of kinship in the trenches.

    Great for Laughs while working
This is my go-to listen when kids go to bed and husband is still working. It has been convicting and encouraging to listen to while continuing to work in the home after kids are down. Makes the work fun! And yes Bekah and Rachel, I always follow y’all on your random trains of thought and never realize until y’all point it out how off topic it is. I’m always laughing with y’all.

    Please post descriptions
I have always wanted to go through the archive and listen to a bunch of episodes of this show but there are vague titles shooting for cleverness couple with something between minimal and no description. You would get a lot more downloads (even if only from me) if you would add quality episode descriptions. Gave 5 stars anyway to support you guys.

    My new best friends!
I’m 34 and this is such a calming podcast for me. I laugh and I think deeper. So blessed by these ladies filling my chore times or quiet times. As a mom I also do take their advice to heart. Thankful for them both!

    So refreshing!
These sisters love God and put their faith & family first. They share Truth (from a car!) and bring a smile to my heart with every episode. They impart wisdom and have a great dynamic together! And they’ll make you laugh, yes please!!

    Hi friends
My kids have gotten accustomed to me sharing your funny stories and saying they were from my friends Rachel and Rebekah ;) I have learned so much from this podcast- one of the most important being to seek to laugh at all the crazy things that happen in life and make sure I’m applying my biblical worldview to my actual day in and day out life. Merry Christmas to you both!

I love this podcast! At almost 60 with 9 mostly grown children and going on 24 grandchildren, I may be a bit out of the target age range, but it’s always good for a laugh, and some serious thought! I love the last episode on Heirlooms- very relevant wisdom. ❤️ Minnie Batty

This podcast makes you feel like you are apart of this sweet sisterhood. They share so much wisdom in such a real and practical way. One moment I am laughing out loud and the next crying and repenting for my stubborn, selfish heart. If you are a wife, mother, and/or friend who is trying to live a life that glorifies God - this is a great podcast! Thank you Bekah and Rachel!

    A Lone Island
A Lone Island of Sanity that is! Thanks for being so real and willing to shoot straight from the hip. I don’t get to listen to your podcast that often, but you’ve been a huge blessing to me through blessing my wife! Thanks for being a de-saturation from the day, a Biblical pressure release. Thanks for just being real and Spirit filled. Here’s a jolly huzzah for “What Have You”!

    Love it!!
Great podcast! One gentle recommendation - your sweet boy is not a “Down’s baby.” We don’t call someone with cancer a “Cancer boy.” He has Down Syndrome. That’s it. ❤️

    No substance
I have listened to every episode of WHY. I used to delight in it every week, would take notes, and would grow in my conviction from the good conversations and tips. But over the past two years, it has devolved into mostly just two sisters catching up briefly on their very busy lives. There is never a theme or focus, unless they are criticizing someone else’s tastes in aesthetics. I used to love this show, but it has become a waste of time. Maybe I’ll try again in a year or two. I wish they’d go back to having a theme with some bullet points we can follow! But, by their own admission, they can hardly remember to record, let alone put together episode content.
  • Fannywrites AReview
    On second thought
I have listened to every one of the Wilson sister’s WHY podcasts, and am starting to wonder why. They have received some justifiable criticism in the past for being snarky, and though they made strides in correcting the issue, they keep falling into laughing condescension of others. They forget their audience is outside of the car. Frankly, if my sisters at church were joking so haughtily at another’s expense as Bekah and Rachel have in the last several episodes, I would walk away. There is nothing winsome for me to grow by or worth recommending others to tune in to. I’ve tried to overlook it, because I know they laugh at their own silliness and foibles, and there are some sins and ways of thinking that are best called out by mockery- but this ain’t it girls. I’ve benefited greatly from many of their conversations & will give them a try in the future. Maybe at some point they will actually have more time to consider what words they put out for a global audience beyond the SUV. I feel they have much to offer and hope they can do so with grace & wisdom.

    Very disappointing, and very immature
I was excited to find this podcast after reading some of Rachel’s books and loving her no none sense approach to parenting. But my oh my this podcast was severely disappointing and terribly immature. These women basically talk about the life choices of other moms/women/people on the internet and hysterically laugh at any decision that isn’t the exact one they would have made. They feel like the mean girls from high school. Granted I only listened to maybe 6 episodes, but I honestly couldn’t take any more.

    Fantastic to hear!
I love this podcast! I am amazed every episode how much I learn from them. I always leave thinking how I would just love to be their friend. I cannot express the joy that I get from hearing about their thoughts on how to be a Godly mother and wife should be!

A peek into the lives of encouraging and strong biblical woman
I can’t express enough how eye opening and valuable the insight is from these two amazing women. The encouragement and example they have given have been a lifeline while I have 5 little children under 10. They are funny, witty, straightforward, and speak the truths of God that are rare in this world. My favorite subjects are hospitality, faithful mothering, and “getting over yourself” to better achieve kingdom work. Such a blessing! (P.S.-I’m from MN and we aren’t as “active” a bunch as portrayed lol)

    Excellent
Podcast that helps women realize what true femininity is according to the scriptures. I really appreciate you two taking time out of your busy schedules to share a little bit of what you’re thinking and going through! It has been so encouraging to me!

    Post resources please!
Last week you talked about some meal practice that you do every Monday could you list those recipes for combination you made in the comments? I would love to recreate the salads but you kept going back and forth so much it was hard to follow who made what.

    A lot of fun!
Biblical truth, common sense, and belly laughs! I appreciate this podcast so much. Feels like sitting in with friends. My husband and kids can always tell when I’m listening to this podcast in my earbuds because of how often I laugh out loud! Thanks, ladies!

    Continues to bless me
I started listening to What Have You more than two years ago. An elder of my church and close family friend shared the Sabbath episode with me to get my thoughts on us doing a combined weekly Sabbath meal. I fell in love with the concept and we started soon after and have been having regular for more than 2 years now. Soon after listening to that episode I caught up on all of them and now look forward to new ones. These ladies speak truth and do so unashamedly. We need more unapologetic Biblical truth in this world right now. They don’t pull any punches or beat around the bush. They seek to glorify the Lord in this podcast and it shows. You can tell they just want to share ways in which every women should be focusing on glorifying God in every part of our lives. Usually we just need to get a grip on our emotions and do the hard things we are called in scripture to do, without pitching a sin fit. Every Christian woman of every age should listen to this. I love that they constantly encourage women to get in the word, apply it to your life, die to yourself daily, glorify God, and bless others.

Don’t follow your heart but laugh and cook a lot
I look forward to this podcast every week. I often laugh out loud but also come away challenged and encouraged to love the Lord more, use my brain as a woman for God’s glory, and treasure God’s Word more than my emotions. I’m a young professional in the corporate world. But this podcast reminds me that I am a woman. Not just through the recipe sharing and cleaning tips (which are definitely fun!) but through the way Rachel and Bekah give a biblical perspective on what it means to think, feel, and act in a biblically feminine way.

    Episode Jordan
I love your podcast I’m so thankful you ladies do this to impart biblical wisdom to other woman! I just wanted to say the bee episode titled Jordan is actually the content of the episode called ladylike. I don’t know if that’s a mess up on my phone only or if it uploaded wrong. I just don’t wanna miss an episode 😆 so I wanted to let you know

    My Absolute Favorite Podcast!
Look forward to listening every week, When they are posted! ☺️ Started listening during the Pandemic and I’ve listen to almost all the seasons. These ladies help me keep my house clean, get through the long parent pick up lines, and did I say keeping my house cleaned. 🤣🤣 While I don’t agree with everything ( gray areas ) I think their teaching, theology and doctrine shared is really good! Although they are so silly, just them silently laughing about so many things always makes me laugh. I love the tips and encouragement to me as a woman, wife, mom and Christian. I always walk away with a new outlook on something, how I can be better for the Lord and my family. Thank you ladies for taking time weekly from your families to share hot tips with us.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a great podcast! I love the practical tips based on sound, Biblical principles!! Keep it up, ladies!! Rachel needs to temper her enthusiasm to speak by not interrupting Bekah so much. 🙈❤️ Other than that...Doug Wilson has sort of backed away from the federal vision stuff so I’m not sure why all the continued criticism on that...
  • MommyBoha
So thankful for the laughter of godly women…
Two things that draw me back to What Have You is the contagious laughter between Bekah and Rachel and their sound theology. Love listening to women who let the Word of God shape every aspect of their lives. Rachel interrupts Bekah A LOT and I think it’s sweet Bekah isn’t annoyed by it but I am sometimes frustrated that Bekah didn’t get her complete thought out. God has blessed her with a lot of wisdom and I would prefer to hear her whole sentence and then Rachel can say her equally wonderful piece.
  • Suggjfewh
    Always encouraging
Listening to “I don’t wanna” and thankful for the reminder to obey because we ought to not because we “feel like it”. Also- oatmeal bath… fill an old stocking (or something like that) with the raw oats. Tie it off, and throw it in the bath. Kids play with it and have fun squishing it in their little hands and it helps their skin.

    Heading the theory lived out
I live miles away from these two women, but have been stirred to greater understanding of my Savior and a greater desire and clarity in serving Him in faithful and joyful obedience through their books. I do not have the opportunity to watch these women live out their faith and teaching, but through this podcast - I almost do! I love getting to hear the foundational truths that they teach and live out be expressed in an ordinary conversation about ordinary (or at least very practical) things. Thank you for sharing your hearts and homes with us Bekah and Rachel!

    Much needed adult conversation
I’m a stay at home mom with a husband that works a lot. It is so wonderful to listen to two women who share my values and priorities and express them with intelligence and humor. When parenting small children, you need a good dose of both to stay sane!! Seriously though, the vocabulary used in these episodes is so refreshing. I look forward to each new conversation!

    Laugh and confess
I am so thankful for this podcast. I wasn’t previously interested in podcasts but tuned in after a friend bought me “You Who?” a couple years ago and have since gone back to listen to every single episode… which turned into a podcast obsession. 😂 I recommend this podcast to all my Christian mom friends and family! The Lord has used Bekah and Rachel through this podcast to regularly convict me when I’m being a ‘tudy turkey and also my need to be in the Word constantly. Over the last 2.5 years I have had a desire to be in the Word and have been more faithful in that area than I ever had been before (by a long shot). It doesn’t matter if you’ve missed a day or a week in your plan- be faithful and obedient and read the Word TODAY. I’m constantly trying to get more people to join me in the Bible Reading Challeges, too! The sound quality is not great but the content is always wonderful when they land the plane…I am here for the housekeeping, crafting, and cackling bits though, too. I laugh. I cry. Sometimes simultaneously. I am greatly challenged and encouraged after each episode. I am thankful for the rich, godly heritage of the Wilson family and the impact they have had on me and my family and some of my closest friends as well.
  • CaitP3
    Real, authentic & edifying!
Love listening to these two laugh and banter back and forth! Their joyful and light-hearted perspective on daily life circumstances is such an encouragement in itself to keep our attitudes fixed on things above. Their deeper, Christ-centered takeaways are always either convicting or edifying. Just perfect for listening to while I’m doing dishes or chores. Highly recommend!
  • mariejulieee
    I must admit
that I don’t have a ton of time for podcasts as I have a very active six-year-old boy and I’m trying to cook more whole plant-based foods, so I end up scrolling in several minutes until I hear the meat and potatoes of when the convicting convo starts. I absolutely love your podcast and thought I should give it a five star rating. Thank you so much for lacing in the ever elusive Titus chapter 2 verse 5 swath of scripture teaching. That is my litmus test of, should I listen to that female Bible teacher? If they do not ever say the words keep her at home (oops that talk text error was funny, I meant “keeper at home”😂) then I will not be listening to said woman. Thanks again ladies!!
  • Calmc1
Can’t stop listening to every episode!
I glean so much from these two. I don’t know what or where I would be if God hadn’t used these two to help me in a variety of small and big ways. Very thankful!
  • Asksmith89
    But the message gets lost
I really enjoy their topics, but the message is often lost in their back-and forth-banter. I know a lot of people enjoy that for podcasts (like they’re with friends) and I get that! But for those who listen to learn—it takes a while to fins substance.
