Join the Party

1,251

Join the Party is an actual play podcast with tangible worlds, genre-pushing storytelling, and collaborators who make each other laugh each week. We welcome everyone to the table, from longtime players to folks who’ve never touched a roleplaying game before. Hop into our current campaign, a pirate story set in a world of plant- and bug-folk, or marathon our completed stories with the Camp-Paign, a MOTW game set in a weird summer camp, Campaign 2 for a modern superhero game, and Campaign 1 for a high fantasy story. And once a month we release the Afterparty, where we answer your questions about the show and how we play the game. New episodes every Tuesday.

This podcast helped me survive family Christmas dinner!
Started listening to learn about D&D so I’d have something to talk about with my cousin at Christmas dinner. Now I’m hooked and trying to find a group to play with. Thanks for making Christmas dinner less awkward!

    Awesome podcast but...
I have listened to every episode in this podcast and love it it’s what i did this summer. I love it but the after parties shouldn’t take up the week. I get so excited for a new one to come out and then. The after party. Honestly after parties are the only thing I don’t like.

    Can’t Rate Highly Enough
I found this band of misfits from another podcast (Escape This Podcast) where Eric and Amanda were guests. They plugged Campaign Three, so I jumped right in with that campaign. I didn’t come up for air until I was caught up. The characters are fully developed (I’m very emotionally attached), the story line is fantastic (best DM in podcasting), and the players have a wonderful rapport that pull you in instantly. If you’re a fan of D&D, role playing, or just good stories, this is the podcast for you.

    Love you Multitude
I started listening to Spirits a couple years in from the start. Julia, Amanda, and Eric captured my heart and got me through the pandemic. I’ve listened to many of the shows on Multitude as well, seen your company grow with amazing people. Admire you all and you give me some hope that there are sane, empathetic, passionate, inclusive and fun people adding positivity to this crazy world. I never played and still don’t play D&D but true to form you’ve made it accessible and fun. I love listening to the stories (currently still on Season 1) and it is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to (and I listen to a diverse group of them). Thank you for being you. Wish you all the success you want to achieve!

I didn’t come here to hear a group of PRIVILEGED WHITE people complain about what other WHITE people are doing with a made up, imaginary, inconsequential game! If you’re going to whine from atop your silver spoon thrones at least bring on a POC guest-star to speak in your stead. It is patronizing and condescending when Whites complain about Whites without a POC rep in tow. Totally turned off. Not even excited about the campaign now.

    So good
I love it some much but I would appreciate it if they didn’t stack police in the way that they do because I have very dear friends that died in service as police officers and I believe they are disrespecting those who lost there live protecting us. While I will admit that there are indeed some police officers that aren’t here to protect us and be above the law. But this is not all police.

    So excited!
Been listening for years and I’m so excited for Campaign 3! Campaign 1 is great. Campaign 2 is amazing and the CAMPaign is *chefs kiss*. Seriously this is the best real play D&D podcast. Eric is a perfect DM, so funny and smart. Amanda, Julia and Brandon make it feel like I’m sitting at the table with them and laughing along with all of my friends. Please listen to this. There will be no disappointment.

    Oddly Wholesome
This podcast got me through a real tough time last year. Kudos to you, Eric, Julia, Amanda, and Brandon. Thanks for making such a genuine, cozy space. Y’all are awesome.

    My favorite podcast
This podcast is so well done with an absolutely lovable cast! Great inspiration for my own D&D sessions. Eric is such a creative DM. I wish I could hang with this crew IRL!

    Friends for the lonely traveler
I started listening to Join the Party in the fall of 2022. I’m listening to the back log starting with The Wedding Party and have only gotten more invested and intrigued as Johnny, Enara and TR8C dive deeper into the political unrest and curse?? that has upended the concentric states. I really enjoy the breakdown After Party sessions and the beginner episodes. I have been interested in DND for a while now but haven’t played yet! So until I find a party of my own Join The Party can be my friends as I live vicariously through the players and DM. My spouse and I have opposite schedules right now and I have a long commute, so I spend a lot of time alone during the week. They are truly friends for the lone traveler and welcome any and all along the journey.

Update to my previous five star review!
So first off, great podcast, great people, great story, great time. But let me tell you this is more than a great podcast! Join the party season one really helped me relax in a really stressful time in my life, the second campaign really captured my imagination and honestly did the best superhero campaign I’ve ever heard, and season three was full of nostalgia! (even though my camp SUUUUCKED) These guys really know how to throw a great party! Can’t wait to see what the next campaign has to offer. (And I’m curious what the title naming structure will be after going through join, the, and party 👀) 5/5 :)

    What an amazing show
I’ve been listening to this show for over a year now and I love everything about it. The characters are amazing, Eric’s DM-ing is phenomenal, the stories are so much fun, and the group as a whole is so wholesome and wonderful. I hope this podcast keeps going for a long long time.

    Amazing!!
I love this show and the whole Multitude group. I really love listening to this- especially if I’ve had a day. It makes me laugh and let’s my mind go to a super cool world.

    I love it so much
I’ve wanted to get into DND for a long time, but didn’t have any friends that were interested so I decided to listen to a podcast instead. This was the first one that popped up when I looked up shows for beginners, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I’m caught up on both seasons (and restarting season 2 just to keep myself occupied in between releases). The group’s dynamic is so fun and as a young queer non-binary nerd, I find JTP has ruined me for other dnd podcasts that aren’t queer and openly progressive enough for me 😂 such a great show, you guys rock 🦞

    I am OBSESSED!
The thought that goes into this amazing show is unparalleled. This PARTY has incredible sound design, story planning, ingenious innovation, AND the best darn improvisational story-telling I have ever witnessed. Hands down the best overall TTRPG podcast out there (who am I kidding?? I haven’t listened to every podcast but I think it’s safe to assume it’s just the best.) If it’s not clear by now, this party is off da chain y’all and YOU ARE INVITED!!!
  • Lolo Lovegood
    Love this podcast so much
It’s so inclusive, fun, welcoming, interesting and entertaining. I love listening to the hosts role playing as well as chatting during the after parties. This podcast is the reason I’m in my first d&d campaign!

    Fav D&D pod!
Hey all! I’ve been a listener since the fifth arc of campaign 1 was coming out, and I love this podcast so much! This was actually the first D&D podcast I ever listened to, and it just might be my favorite one. I loved the first season and the second one just keeps getting better and better — I love the characters in both seasons. I really like using D&D for a modern superhero campaign — so cool! In conclusion, if you’re not sure about listening to this podcast, you definitely should! Honestly, it was perfect for getting through 2020. :))

    Absolutely Adorable!
Heya! Wanted to give you a shout out for a wonderful podcast! I LOVE that it is a LGBTQ friendly podcast (especially since I identify as Queer/Genderqueer). I’ve listened to several D&D play podcasts and yours is in the top 2 in my book! (Top one being TAZ, but that’s because they were my favorite first). Thanks for brightening this working parents day, and momentarily making me forget about my responsibilities (UGH Adulting). I LOVE YOU ALL!! ♥️🧡💛💚💙💜🥰😍

    I love binging this podcast
I love this podcast it’s so fun to listen to when you’re just hanging out. You will laugh a lot while listening to this podcast. The Dm, Eric, is awesome and the players make the game so fun and hilarious to anyone listening. I didn’t even know what D&D was when I started listening but I love it so much and I have played it myself some. I love this game so much and I adore the players they are amazing.

    The best podcast ever!
I started listening a little over a few months ago and this show got me through some tough times to which I’m very thankful for. I binged it twice in a few months and decided to get into D&D because of it and even ran my own one shots. I couldn’t help but bring up my version of the familiar voice of Jersh as one of my NPCs during my first time running as a DM. I honestly think it was the most fun I’ve ever had doing an NPC voice sore throat and all. Thanks so much for all the laughs and good times.

    Love!
I started listening to this podcast because I’m a huge fan of Spirits, Potterless, and Next Stop. I had never played D&D before and wasn’t particularly interested but this podcast changed everything! The DM (Eric) does a masterful job and the players bring their characters to life in a way that truly didn’t anticipate. And thanks to this podcast, I’m going to be starting a D&D campaign with my roommates!

    Best podcast ever!
I cannot recommend this podcast enough! This group of friends is so funny and so good at telling a story. Such a great intro for people new to the dnd community. Both campaigns (second one currently still going) are full of great characters and are awesome stories. They all constantly make me laugh and I’m always looking forward to the next episode! Download and listen to every episode (even the after parties and the one-shots) and support these incredible people!!

    Late but sincere
An incredible cast of friends make new worlds a place we can visit. Share their journey into a strange new place; become apart of their inside jokes and find out why one of them is so fascinated with rope! Enjoy the romance; experience the ladder hangers; whatever you’re after you can find it in... The Last Refuge!

    This podcast is amazing
I know I’m a little late to listening to this podcast but I loved it instantly. Within the 1st 24 hrs of starting it I listened to over 10 episodes. I’ve been listening to most of the multiple shows for over a year now and I can’t even begin to tell you how much they have changed me and gotten me through hard times. Thanks you all so much, hope this gets to you I think it’s good for you to see how much you change peoples lives. Ps. What ever happened to What’s your favorite Pokémon? (and then I say something nice about you)

Best Intro to DND podcast and my fave podcast to date
Started listening to this podcast so I could learn through audio about the mechanics of the game. I totally got hooked and bi he’d every single episode. Now I tell everyone I know who loves DND and podcasts to listen to this podcast. And to also check out all the other podcasts by this group because they are amazing!! I am forever a fan now.
  • Koballabateman
    Fantastic podcast
I love this DND podcast, I was super late to the game so binged campaign 1 in about 4 months after it ended and so happy about campaign 2! Thank you for being a beginner/novice friendly DND podcast so that I now know what I’m talking about and can listen to other ones that don’t make it as easy for new listeners. Keep up the good work, love you guys!
  • Mks405
    Cannot recommend it enough!
A super fun podcast with one complete campaign and another currently being released! Both are fantastic. Great for beginners to the ttrpg world, and super creative homebrew and use of initiative. Plus, it really is a collaborative story telling podcast! You can tell how much everyone at the table cares about each other and the world they’re creating together :)

Such a great place to dive into the world of dnd

    Can’t say enough good things
I really can’t say enough good things about JTP. The storylines are engaging and fun, they’re super inclusive, legitimately laugh out loud funny, and I guarantee whatever niche nerd thing you’re into, it’ll get referenced. This show got me and my husband and our friends to play DND, which has just opened our nerdom up even further.

    Love it!
Really love all the different characters and personalities. As a person new to D&D the beginner episodes were very helpful to understanding everything. I loved listening to the wedding party, and can’t wait to listen to more.
  • Elena C!!
    Love it!!
I’m a new listener, but I already love Join The Party so much!! As a new D&D player too, this has been insanely helpful, but also just an amazing story and podcast altogether! I highly recommend it to anyone who might be reading this! 😁❤️
  • benniedejette
    extremely good, extremely fun
I don’t love the super hero genre so I put off starting campaign 2 for several months. I finally got into and I’m here to say I’m really glad I did! Something I love about JTP is how they all are genuine friends just having a lot of fun together and that comes through in their jokes and rapport. It really makes it a joy to listen to. This season however, DM Eric really stepped it up by mixing in things he’s learned from other RPG systems to make the DND experience even more collaborative and to better fit to the story the group is telling. Even when JTP gets serious, they never get grim-dark. I really appreciate the breezy and fun listen when the world feels pretty f’d up these days! Overall they do a wonderful job capturing the magic that is playing a pretend game with your friends and that’s why I’ve stuck around through a genre I don’t really care for. Keep up the great work!!

The Beet Podcast I’ve Ever Listened To
I love it. Even if you aren’t into D&D, I guarantee you will still LOVE this podcast! (Disclaimer, I have not listened to season 1, but I might get to it) I love every second (except for the cursing, but still hilarious at good parts) and I often finding myself listening to episodes again and again and again (you get the point.) The npc’s are HILARIOUS, and I often laugh out loud and make my family concerned. I love all of pc’s and the villains they face are very groovy! I feel like I’m a little kid waiting for Saturday morning (or in this case Tuesday) cartoons every week waiting for a new episode. It’s all so groovy and fun, and the story has me left with a big smile, especially at ep 7 and 8. The hosts are so fun, and I love every second of it! P.s if you read this, heck Sour Anthony
  • AskedCentaur
    Eh
The story is alright. I honestly couldn’t tell you what the plot was. I pretty much hate every npc. There obnoxious and overly useless. The DM throws in a cinnamon roll who is supposed to be the “champion” who only’s goal is to be a giant stumbling block and annoyance to the party.
  • Fourwils
    Absolutely great
Great story, lovely comedy and the players are definitely my favorite people. (Spoilers for ep. 38+) The show does really does take a bad turn when Fishe Leaves, and the bonfire really makes me tear up but it quickly improves
