Ina BarrónHeart & grit for the workJust finished listening to an interview with casting champs in the industry. These interviews are such amazing tools for actors to learn more about the industry as it is today from people who have been in it for many years and who know what they’re talking about because they are at the very center of it. The heart and grit that goes into this work is evident. Gaining valuable perspectives is worth its weight for listeners. Thank you, Risa and Steve for keeping the artistry alive and for sharing about it in your work and with your teachings and podcasts. High praise and gratitude for creating and sharing these conversations. They are such gems, thank you! 🙏🏼

afroman12345Ep.52 sound is glitchyNot my fav podcast because of the pitching of the classes constantly and the sound is bad in episode 52

tinydanseuseThe artist lifeSuch an incredible podcast for artists, and creatives who choose this as their path. Their podcast is honest, helpful, and such a fresh perspective to what it means to be an artist in times that are changing rapidly. I loved their interview with Mary Vernieu - such valuable & wonderful insight into the artist as a person and their creative pursuits!

BobbyJones39An inspired Leap of FaithRisa, Steve and Team, I am jumping back into acting after many, many (many!) years of being away from it and stumbled across your podcast, which can only be interpreted as right place; right time. Now on the wise and mature side of 59, I am both excited and scared to death about my leap of faith, but am spurred on and inspired by what this podcast presents about the endless opportunities for anyone who dares to be creative, courageous and vulnerable. I am now seven episodes deep and am more driven now about this pursuit than ever I thought I could be. Yes, I am an amateur diving into the deep end, but know the first step forward is always the hardest. Your podcast is making this journey an adventure for me. Thank you! I will keep listening. Please keep sharing content about your personal stories and those of your guests. Hope to someday be fortunate enough to cross paths with you both!

Woliver10Accessible, inspiring, helpfulI’m an actor hoping to embark on my career in theater and film professionally, and this podcast has been a breath of fresh air as I consider acting graduate schools and beyond. Risa and Steve are so grounded, calm, and connected to the heart of this work — it’s impossible not to be inspired and uplifted by each conversation. I really appreciate their focus on self-work and on bringing humanity and artistry to all aspects of the industry, from auditioning to producing your own work to even seeking an agent or manager. Thank you for creating this space of transparency and insight for actors — your ability to give context to what goes on the industry and reframe topics in terms of self-care and sustained success is very, very appreciated.

JohnnyWojApproachable, Sound AdviceA friend in the industry shared this podcast with me last week and I’ve greatly enjoyed the first three episodes so far. Risa and Steve know the biz, and offer insights that are grounded in what as actors we can actually control. I’ve worked in the industry for 8 years (mostly in production) and I’ve overheard so much poor advice. This is not that. Acting is a tricky profession and it’s easy to loose sight of one’s goals, Risa and Steve seem determined to help remind us all why we are on this pathway in the first place. Highly recommend a listen, no matter your experience level.

MrsEWeezThank you!Thank you Risa and Steve for sharing an inside look at our business, for asking and answering all of this actors continued questions and for entertaining me while doing it! I look forward to every episode. Love it!

Bevy07Fabulous, Healing messageI am an absolute fan of this podcast. Each time I listen to an episode it happens to be exactly what I needed to hear in that moment on that day. Episode 30 really spoke to me. I have been on a path of change and am excited about it. This episode helped me realize I don’t need permission from anyone but me to make those changes. As Risa has always said, live a full life! Thank you for reminding us that we can and should while still living in our artistry.

Amadou TounkaraConsistencyHello Risa and Steve. My name is Amadou Tounkara and I am an actor from Philadelphia, PA. I would like to thank you guys for launching this podcast and from my point of view, telling the truth about what this industry is like and how difficult, yet promising it is to be an actor. Ive been listening to this podcast everyday single day for about a month and Im trying to go in order. So far, my favorite episode is the one with Josiah Akinyele and how is he as Risa described, “the hardest working agent”. I also love how steve brings in some real world examples outside of acting such as meditation and the 2nd arrow which spoke about dealing with pain. I will be in LA in next week and in Atlanta in mid August and hope to see you all there in the BGB Studios classroom. Best Regards, Amadou Tounkara

OGActorHumane Teachers!I listen to A LOT of podcasts. I’ve never rated one before but this has quickly become my favorite. I really look forward to new episodes. In an industry that can often feel far removed from what led most of us to it — i.e., art, heart, soul, humanity, camaraderie, fun! — Steve and Risa provide shelter from the storm. This show helps me get back in touch with what’s important— the work! the practice! the art! — when the day-to-day grind can easily help me forget! Thank you Risa and Steve!! You’re Hollywood treasures!!

As we all continue to adapt to the ongoing changes in the industry, pandemic aside, these “talks” are invaluable and inspiring. Check out the online classes. They rock!!

ImeansometimesA wealth of perspectiveThe Acting Podcast has brought me a wealth of perspective that has challenged many preconceived notions of the industry that I had, and freed me up in many ways I didn’t realize were constructing. If you’re an actor in need of a glimpse into your relationship with the industry, I super recommend popping this podcast on with an empty cup.
-
whatswrongwiththosepeopleThis is pure gold!!I absolutely love this podcast!!! I’m a working actor, and every episode touches on something or another that I deal with in my life, wether it’s audition technique or dealing with rejection, or working on my craft or even developing a life outside of acting. Cal Barnes 1Reminds me of Being Right Back in My First Acting Class. This is a truly great podcast, whenever I need an acting pick me up, or to remember why I'm still in this crazy industry, I just fire up an episode. I’m inspired every time. It takes me back to those first acting classes in LA when I was 21 — bright, hopeful, completely excited to learn, and with my whole life in front of me — it’s so easy to forget that, and this podcast always brings me back to what it is all about — discovery, curiosity, artistic joy in doing the work, and having experience.
-
Aries55Imperative for actors! These podcasts are GOLD, especially the one with Mary Vernieu. More than just great information, huge humanity here that reminds us actors why we do what we do and that it all comes down to connecting with one another and telling a story. Casting directors are people just like us and we are all in it together.

Ally AnthonySo much motivation! This podcast kicks me in the butt (in the best way). I feel so motivated after listening to each and every episode. Any actor or even people just curious about how it all works, would definitely benefiting by listening. Everyone has a podcast these days, it’s hard to figure out which one to listen to. Well, actors, this is it!

AshleighE228So much good info!I’m pretty new to the acting world and I’m so glad I found Risa and Steve! I actually listened to most of the episodes while I was on a solo road trip (8 hours each way). I cannot believe I actually did not put on music the whole time, i was so absorbed, I couldn’t stop listening to this podcast. I can’t even begin to explain how much I’ve learned so far from listening. The guests they have always give some incredibly eye opening perspectives as well that I never realized. I feel truly inspired, and can’t wait to listen to season 2 which starts today. Thank you so much Risa and Steve, for the knowledge and encouragement.
-
bohosoul77They don't get itRisa and Steve talk a good game, but they're two wealthy, cis white people who either don't recognize their privilege or, more likely, they do and don't care. The hypocrisy is so blasé, it makes my head spin. CDs have a lot of power - they're the gatekeepers. BGB prefers to pass the blame to studios and actors for a lack of diversity and representation in casting. Telling an actor "you're the reason you don't book" when it's because a casting director refused to see past skin color or gender identity is beyond ignorant.
-
NikkiL23Amazing!This podcast is a MUST for actors and creatives. It is incredible and insightful. Thank you Risa, Steve and all BGB!
-
Boss0569What a Great PodcastI just finished the first podcast and wow, what great information. I have been acting in New York and L.A. for 30 years, and I can still learn so much from Risa and Braun. It was more difficult for me to get work in L.A., so I am hoping by listening to them, I will get some key pointers.
-
D_louLove ListeningI’m absolutely loving my experience listening to you guys. I’ve been an actor in L.A. and Idaho, have been coaching high school students for 6 years, and am now beginning to dabble in my own business as a private Acting Coach. The wisdom you two share is not only interesting, but also so incredibly helpful. Understanding different perspectives regarding the industry and learning about a variety of areas from your own experiences has been a wonderful lessen of how to incorporate my own past into my coaching sessions. Thank you for putting this on. Danielle Louie

MorganReedGet It Right when you self-tapeFilled with insights you may not have heard before, Risa and Steve generously offer straightforward, inspiring, and personal suggestions & information to guide you to be your best self & your best actor, with confidence in both. Nuggets of spiritually-centering ideas are sprinkled about to calm those crazy actor thoughts that distract us from being present in our auditions, rehearsals, preparations, and on set/on stage. Yes, self-tapes for THEATRE are addressed here, too! Give it a listen. You’ll enjoy it immensely and be grateful for the time and loving effort they put into these podcasts and all of their generous work.

Erin (Boot)Amazing PodcastI just finished listening to the very first podcast How to Make it in Hollywood, it was very insightful. As I am beginning my acting career, I am learning what to do first in my career, from taking acting classes to doing the work from home, such as script analysis, and so much more. This is a great podcast to learn about the craft and business of acting, and I definitely look forward to more of your insight, to achieve my dream.

Hstevens20A must listen for actorsI’m an industry that is ever-changing, and at a faster rate than before we are able to find a constant through the act of bravely committing to doing the work. Risa and Steve have created a place to meet industry players and gain insight into the journey of the entertainment business, but their message always centers on doing the work and growing as a human being. They ask the actor to command what they can control, and go out into this industry and give it what it deserves: humanity. This is a must for actors.
-
damnfrankieLegendaryWHAT?! Risa Bramon!? Bernie Telsey?! I've heard those revered names for decades but haven't been in the room with them... yet. If you've ever wanted to be a working actor, Steve & Risa's talks are riveting, mandatory. I wish I'd had this peek behind the curtain as a young dreamer 30 years ago in NY. Younger listeners are luckier than they'll ever know. Listen, learn and never stop dreaming! Now get off my lawn ;)
-
laughable lukeLove at first listen!!Just listened to my first podcast over pilot season. Wow! The fervor and vigor spoken with about how to “get thru” pilot season was inspiring and saving. The grace, dignity and power I felt as an actor listening is incredible. I recommend this podcast to any actor on any level!!
