The guys are correct about people in Congress being conflicted about which is better. I submit that a main reason for this is fear about their masculinity.

Why do you guys want Iran to have nukes so bad? Do you honestly think they weren’t building nuclear weapons? Do you honestly think our allies were close to a diplomatic solution? Suddenly you care about the president getting explicit congressional authorization for a bombing run in the Middle East? Where was this energy during Lord Obama or Biden? When you’re agreeing with both the Tucker Carlson, MTG, Daryl “Churchill was the villain” Cooper, AND Bernie and The Squad, that’s a bad sign fellas. Trump did the right thing.

I trust Jon, Jon, Dan, and Tommy to give the analysis and perspective to help me process the truly heinous reality that we are enduring from week to week. And they make it funny and relatable too!

Terrorists having nuclear weapons is a nightmare on a never seen before level. Trump will do what is needed, whether he authorizes a U.S. B-2 strike or steps back and allows Israel to finish the job. On the supposed divide, It’s an eighty-twenty issue, come on. Obama bros can’t read polls apparently. I have never met a person, or heard of one that supports a U.S. implemented regime change.

I appreciate the work, insight, and perspective you each bring to the conversation. Like some other reviewers, I would love to hear more actionable ideas on how listeners might help. I don’t work in political spaces, so your collective experience is especially valuable in informing and guiding those of us outside that arena.

From the perspective of a liberal who lives and works in Fort Smith Arkansas. These guys do great job at cover the day political hellscape we are all experiencing, and talk to you like you’re a normal person who has value. Provides some logic in a very red part of the country and have very nice voices. Catchy theme too.

I would love to understand the reasoning behind why everyone keeps discussing Donald Trump and his base, particularly on shows that take a critical and nuanced approach. Can someone please explain why he would care about his polling numbers if he disregards the Constitution and has blatantly ignored court orders? He probably doesn’t even know what his polling numbers are or how to interpret them. Likely, he doesn't even know how to read. Instead of focusing on whether his poll numbers improve, let's discuss ways to address this situation, because if his polling does get better, we could be in even worse trouble than we already are.

Hey guys, this is Gavin. I like the podcast but you guys have to get more viewers in order to complete with the far right content creators. Yet again we are seeing the Republican Party crumble right in front of us. As much as I do not like listening to Tucker Carlson, he exposed Ted. The fact that a US senator has no clue on what the population is in Iran is embarrassing. This is the same senator that has accused the Biden Administration of flooding money to Iran by helping Hamas attack Israel on October 7th. This guy throws a fit every time he talks. This guy is the worst senator in Washington. I do not even like looking at him at all. He’s a very nasty person too. He’s a Trump wannabe. The guy never stops talking. It’s likes a dog that does not stop barking. I really wished that Texas had flipped his seat in November. If Ted did not know the population in Iran, then does he know the population in Cancun? This infighting is going to backfire on them at some point. Hopefully the midterms it will backfire on them. There was infighting within their party leading up to the 2022 midterm elections and they got embarrassed. If we get involved and if Trump messes up here then this will break MAGA and it will hurt their chances of winning going forward. They would need an outsider or an anti Trump type of person to be there nominee.

The whole show is entirely about the optics and messaging of the democratic party. If that’s the kind of thing you’re into then keep listening. They essentially just want a democrat to be the president and for them to run the house and senate. Sure- that’s definitely better than what’s going on. But if no one’s going to deal with the wealth inequality, housing costs, homelessness, etc then what’s the point?

Long time listener who has had to take a pause on political content since the Nov 24 election … I’m back and this show is still the best there is- smart, funny, and informative - I’ve missed my friends!

I’ve been a listener for years now but I’m on the cusp of bowing out. It’s too much complaining, not enough talk about doing. I wish it would stop preaching to the choir and talk about strategies on how to bridge the gap between us and the current Republican Party instead of only just vilifying them. We will get nowhere if we don’t stop fighting with them.

Just listened to the June 15, 2025 episode with Erica Chenowyth. Listening to this after the No Kings march, I find that her knowledge about political and social protest movements is amazing. Listen and learn a few tips about moving forward from here, while learning about past movements.

I don’t listen all the time, but when I do, I’m always encouraged by the solid information that is fact based and well presented. While this show has a progressive viewpoint, I am a middle-reader, and I find it is not offensive but rather promotes awareness so that I can rethink some of the “mainstream” ideas that the conservative leaders are bandying about. I think in this current climate, I am a relative “progressive”!

Saturday felt like the most hopeful day I’ve felt since January, and hearing Dr Chenoweth add layers of structure and analysis to how we fight back was a perfect listen for the day after! I’d love to hear her follow up on what we achieved and where that can lead us after seeing the results of Jun 14/ No Kings Day!

I truly think the conversation about protest and persuasion is so valuable, and I hope the content will lean much more into these more practical, tactical conversations as things are changing so quickly. Have been a long time listener, and have much respect for each of you as writers and thinkers—but this is the kind of topical content that can make people feel empowered and informed at this moment. I appreciate the sparks of humor and thoughtfulness of your approaches to all conversations. Thank you.

Nice try attempting to say the first thing Sen. Padilla said was who is. No. He busted through looking like anybody, advanced towards it what he the podium and starting trying to interrupt with questions. Only after he was being restrained did he ID himself. But they didn’t know cuz he had no badge or any suggestions plus it wasn’t a Q n A. She actually met with him later so he could speak with her but that’s not what he wanted. They’re starting to sound like they dislike Palestine now and it’s kinda weird. I can hear the disdain in their voices when they feel obligated to discuss it. They never talk about Arabs when talking about ICE even though ICE was created to get rid of Arabs to begin with and how now evolved to more. They don’t include Arabs in the marginalized groups when discussing rising discrimination. They seem to have some internalized negativity towards the Middle East. I’m not a fan anymore as an Arab person, I can tell when I’m not welcome somewhere.

I have my routine news gathering efforts I go through daily. Since Trump was first elected my interest in politics has gone from more informed than most to obsessed. Then with the onset of retirement, I spend 90% of my free time in indulging. Podcasts have become my favorite sources besides written sources and TV. My very first and still favorite journalist is Rachel Madow. My second favorite source is Tim Miller. I have an impressive collection of Regular sources. Let’s talk about Right Wing Protests remember January 6th Attack on the US Capitol -

I just listened to your interview with Jake Tapper and his co-author and I still have many questions you did not address. I have a mother with dementia and have been observing and learning about the disease over the 10 years. Did anyone they interviewed professionally to be an expert on the functionality of dementia because the truth is that there is quite a bit depending on the severity. And why are we feeding this story to the opposition party leaders when the leader of their party exhibits much more severe symptoms. Also as a journalist, I think Jake Tapper should have pursued and reported his story much sooner than Nov. 6 2024.

Blathering analysis that is completely off base gets boring really fast. How about leaving the echo chamber for once? Your credibility is in a shambles. Good job.

Helpful to understand much of the lockstep, crowd-tested messaging of a party increasingly without a base. Whatever happens now, Democrats have waited too long to embrace a much-needed dose of economic populism and save America’s global standing. That is largely gone, and I don’t see any way for the U.S. to earn domestic trust and admiration back without a transformative reform agenda that tackles the courts, campaign finance, etc., and offers something real and tangible to the working classes of this troubled and divided country. As a lifelong Democratic voter, I won’t hold my breath.

First, Jake and Alex apparently don’t know the difference between the language symbolism of “coverup” and let’s say “hiding” info., which is journalism malpractice. In our day and age, and particularly in politics which just happens to be the realm we’re talking about, the word coverup asserts a crime is/was committed. There is/was no crime here. Sure a lot of Dem political stupidity and folly were committed but no crime, therefore, no coverup, by definition in any U.S. Federal Courtroom. Only in Alex’s head is/was there a coverup. If Trump walks around upstairs at the WH late at night chanting he hates black people, and his cronies hide this fact…. It’s still not a coverup. It’s not a crime to hate people, nor is faking/ hiding one’s cognitive ability. Now, the Biden(s) are going to get everything they have coming to them and more for leaving us with the Dumpster, but this book is a bit of a joke with its righteousness. I’m sure the book is very truthful, but at the end of the day, it’s still just telling us water is wet. Biden is/was a political Chernobyl who continues to off gas radioactive material. The entire World knows this, nonetheless, Joe Biden compared to Trump is Lincoln. I suggest Jakie and Alex spend their time going after Trump’s crimes, lies, and corruption…..but of course Biden is a much easier and pretty defenseless target than the Dumpster. Joe Biden is low hanging fruit and super safe to attack. Gentlemen, the Dumpster is now beginning his move on the media with the maniacs he’s appointed on the FCC………. If Jake and Alex want to hand-wring about something, the FCC’s upcoming actions would be a good place to start, but of course Jake may lose his overpaid position at CNN.

Love the show, but Jake Tapper is a disgusting, pseudo intellectual, opportunistic clown. A little too gleeful about glorifying himself as almost a sort of whistleblower and clearly lying about magically getting a bunch of sources RIGHT after the election. Reports have a duty to REPORT information, not sit on it until the book comes out. Same goes for Bob Woodward and COVID under Trump interview recordings where he “tried “ to inform Trump but didn’t tell the public in real time about Trump’s denials/magical thinking.

I love listening to these guys but what’s up with the laughing background? Not a fun of it not guna lie. I’ll still support you guys!!!

This book is not going to wear well. A bizarre focus given the moment we’re in. I listen to the Herr interview. It was in the nature of a deposition and as an attorney, I advised my clients the state that they could not recall if that was true. It’s not an exercise to blab on abt everything the client knows. The date recollection I thought was minor. My husband died and if I were being deposed, and someone all of a sudden threw in for no reason my husband’s death, it would rattle me.

After the biggest MAGA break up of the decade, I can’t believe you decided to rail on Biden for an hour and a half. So tiring. I’ll update this review when I’m less mad.

JT's Heartbreaking snark -- whatever analysis of Biden's presidency you want to offer, this shouldn't be it. He deserves broader perspective, and so do we. I know you don't care, but I am disappointed in you all.

The interview with the Union Expert this week was excellent. I learned so much.

Can’t believe there was an attack in Boulder, and your episode tackling it basically summed up to “so this guys did this thing, but can you believe how trump is using this? Wow he’s so bad” Every one of Lovetts answered sounded so paused and hesitant. By far the strangest angle you guys have had in a while. We’re dying as a party while you all flail about every word. Huge fan but that episode just felt so disappointing and disrespectful. Even the transcript reads “he’s being charged with a federal hate crime, but that’s just because this is Donald trumps America” cmon guys, do better, people were hurt time to be serious again we have a party save.

These guys are just great. Thoughtful, informed, with lots of humor sprinkled in. Sure, it’s liberally biased, but I’ll lean towards news sources that treat compassion as important as capitalism any day of the week.

Also can some of these governors sign orders to forbid state and local law enforcement from being able to help ICE agents on their raids?
