Welcome to The Devil Within, the podcast that explores true stories of demonic possession and the supernatural. With new episodes every week and new, immersive seasons every year, The Devil Within begins where the answers run out… and the truth, no matter how extraordinary, will be brought into the light. From ancient spirits to modern day ghost stories… demonic possession to creatures of legend. For all things unexplainable - and more than few that are better left alone - The Devil Within has you covered.BINGE THE FIRST THREE SEASONS NOW!Season 1: The Jersey Devil - The brutal slaying of BETTY ANN SULLIVAN shocked the small town of Jefferson Township, New Jersey. The violence of that evening shocked the nation for the perpetrator... was her own son, a boy of fourteen who would take his own life only hours later. What the investigation revealed left a community in tatters, unwilling to believe the evil that had befallen them.Season 2: The Demons of Yorkshire - In 1974 after experiencing financial hardship, Michael Taylor joined a local church in the rolling hills of Northern England. After falling in love with a young, beautiful preacher, Michael’s personality began to change. The mild-mannered family man became abusive and unhinged. His new church believed he was possessed by no fewer than 48 demons and would require an exorcism to save his soul and protect his family from evil. But the supposed remedy would come at a very steep price... Season 3: A Season in Hell - In the late 1970's New York City had it all: Hip Hop, Punk Rock... and the Son of Sam. The third season of The Devil Within takes listeners into the belly of the beast and explores the wicked origins, reign of terror and ultimate capture of one of the most feared serial killers in history. With exclusive interviews from journalists, FBI agents, historians and mental health experts this season promises to be the most comprehensive - and most terrifying - account of how one man brought New York City to a standstill.

All good but Season 4 is exceptional
The correlation between Dante’s Inferno and Ramirez’s life is amazing. I’ve listened to all the episodes twice. It’s given me a re-appreciation for the literature I was required to read as a teenager. Well done!

Like the stories, don’t care about your political views. Some background info wrong on bonus ep
The actual stories you tell are well researched and put together nicely. I enjoy them very much. However, some of your views and info is wrong on the bonus episodes. To name a few the church does explain what happens to all the people before Christ. It’s literally in a Catholic prayer. The liberal political view can be left out about Elon’s charity, which he gives millions to, or how your guest called the president a rapist. Just comment on the stories. If I want politics I’ll listen to a political podcast.

What was this new episode… difficult to listen and follow the conversation

Alright. Not far from the best.
It’s alright. Some things are spewed that are actually false. 2 stars because I’m polite.

    Great podcast
Love the host’s voice and the overall dark vibe of the show. Good writing.

One of my favorite podcasts. Excited for this new season!

    Tech issues detract from story
I love listening to this podcast…interesting stories and varied topics. You clearly do your homework. But please double check your eps before you drop them. Your voice tracks are overlapping, making it extremely difficult to listen. This happened with the Demonic Possession episode, but has happened before. I know you can do better, Brandon!

    Need editing
I really like this podcast but you need to check your recordings before dropping them. This episode is unlistenable Devil Possession in the Digital Age

    Disappointing
I want to love this. I like the subject. But editing really needs some help.

    PLEASE Hire an Editor!!!
For the love of all that is holy, HIRE AN EDITOR!!! I’ve been listening for a few years now, and noticed quite a few hiccups in this podcast, yet enjoyed the content and continued to endure the horrible editing. But today, I’m done. Absolutely horrendous editing. Like honestly, do you even listen to this before you release it? Because if you did, I think you would want to do something about it. At the very least, perhaps have someone ELSE just give it a listen before you release the episode.

    Great storyteller
I love Brandon Morgan’s voice in the podcast, I just can’t stop listening. I really like his funny commentary as well!

    Diverse topics and well told
I love this podcast. I am constantly surprised by the new stories I haven’t heard before. Well researched and soothing to listen to.

    The average should be higher
I wish people had to learn how to review before they’re allowed to write one. I listened to Season 1 a while ago and listened again a year or so ago, then just found the later seasons. The first season was intense and absorbing (I grew up in the Satanic Panic and only found out it was fake a few years ago!!!) but the later ones are fun too! I enjoy the host’s voice and storytelling style. Blaming him for ads or leaving one star because you disagree is ignorant and childish.

    Getting so good
I watched that Geraldo episode 5 gillion times in my gararrrge dude Thank you so much for these recent episodes especially. Great history and clips make the listen so fun

    Original Dhampir
The first historian to give proper credit to the word “vampire” (“dhampir”) being distinctly of Albanian origin. It was my childhood nickname. Would love more of a deep dive on this as Albanians are often robbed of our folkloric history.

    The Ending
I really got behind the ending it’s non-fiction hitting fiction head on with a lot to process! To me personally the last so many lines turn create what I would consider to be his magnum opus… Well done! whether agree or disagreed it gets reactions, isn’t that what it’s all about? That was my reaction after Season 1… I haven’t been mesmerized again but I will say I haven’t had any podcast effect me like season 1 of this did therefore unfortunately I would rather it of been a one-off because living up to that is not possible and it’s not your fault as I said before that was your… Season 1 - 500 STARS

    The Devil Within
Such a crazy listen… as a recovering Catholic I completely “get” all the surmising of the episodes towards the end. Bottom line… do not go looking for evil…😵‍💫

    The show is good
Initially I was irritated at how many ads there were, but the further the show goes the less ads there are.

    Why the shift in perspective?
Embarrassing as it may be to admit in your circles… Demonic evil still influences and sometimes drives human behavior.

    Well Researched & Entertaining
Interesting and entertaining. More in depth on many of the subjects than other podcasts. Also the host has an excellent delivery and perfect elocution.

    Sadly it’s not getting better
I loved season 1! It was a great build of suspense and accurate fact finding about the “ jersey devil” and some of the local lore was spot on, as well as the “satanic panic” of the time. I was sad when they made it for subscribers only but I was able to get it on other platforms at that time. Thankfully as of writing this all seasons are free again. Season two was interesting, but there were many inaccuracies about the Abrahamic faiths and sadly many misrepresentations of Native American beliefs and culture. And that was surprising to me because how accurate season 1 was when it came to talking about Christianity. And sadly this third season has been all over the place with many episodes being completely devoid of any facts. The narrator at times almost comes across as monotone and just reading a script rather than enthusiastically retelling/reliving the events he is talking about. After the past few episodes I actually had to unfollow the show. The ads are beyond annoying, also being placed in the middle of sentences at times. And this show just doesn’t seem to know where it is going anymore. If it ever cleans up the ads, and goes back to one specific story, that is told with actual facts about the real event, as well as interviews, and an accurate portrayal of different religions that explores the lore in a fun creative way, I will gladly follow this podcast again. But until then I must walk away. Season 1: 5 stars Season 2: 3-4 stars Season 3: 1 star

    Yay season 1 released!
I loved season two but season 1 was only available for subscribers…until now! I won’t pay for podcasts. That seems as absurd to me as paying for FM radio. Season 3 please!!
  • a_l_p_
    So close, so far
Please, consult or hire religious experts to help y’all with this show. None of the Abrahamic faiths are represented properly, precisely, or accurately.

    The Devil Withy
This is the worst Wondery podcast I’ve listened to. It starts strong describing the crime and the initial evidence and then devolves into speculating about the supposed killer’s mental state and way too much local history and doesn’t get into any hard investigative journalism. I’m left begging to know whether the police identified and interviewed the Satanists in the woods and whether they might have been involved directly or indirectly in the crime. The guy’s basic thesis that Tommy murdered his mother because he was stressed about school, church and wrestling is not satisfying.
  • Ohlefty
What do I pay for if not to get rid of ads?
I like this podcast. I find the writer/host to be a good storyteller and I love a longform deep dive. But why with this season am I hearing ads when the whole reason I’m a supporter is to get rid of them?
  • agingbuffoon
    racist
many episodes in the second season are racist towards native americans

    Disappointing advertisements
The podcast itself is good however the call it supports to (a wondery issue I’m sure) is a disappointment. This host seems conscious, thoughtful and well rounded as he talks about issues which are sensitive. Yet the call to action with the breaks is to support a nation led by those who do the very same thing as the devil does: call to self serving ideologies where truth is misconstrued and lies become the paperweight which hold stories told in unjust narratives. I’m talking about Israel (not the Jewish people- the people who support Israel)

    Truth.
A real depiction of: things most people don’t see or feel but a true and real! If one had a problem with any religious… Catholic/Christian discussion… well… maybe they have: “The devil within”.
  • KLS523
    Prepare for your sermon…
This podcast would be soooooo much better if the host weren’t so blatantly Christian. How about we keep it unbiased, or advertise as such? If I wanted that kind of commentary on everything, I would’ve stayed in church.😑 Also maybe he educate him before he makes comments about other religions he clearly doesn’t know anything about. He sounds ridiculous. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Much ado, fraught but without tension...
Thank the narrator for that. The guy's read [comma] is phrase by phrase [comma] as if [ellipsis long pause] he's trying [comma] gamely [comma] but without success [comma] to parse a sentence in a way that will [comma] somehow [comma] someway [comma] sear a visual image of the printed sentence [within the script he reads from] into the listener's [ellipsis long pause] MIND!
  • JamesBG48
    Mostly Made Up
Most of these episodes are just the host telling his version of what he thinks happened based very loosely on some unknown sources or evidence. It’s a good campfire tale, but that’s as far as it goes.
  • Lulu Celia
    Lucifer or misogyny?
It’s a good story. But it’s hard for me to be asked to ‘put myself in Michael’s shoes’ when his violence began towards a woman who sexually rejected him. The beginning of so many stories that ends with a of murdered woman. He’s a misogynist. He didn’t try to kill those dudes who were behaving violently towards him. You need to mention it or at least not talk about him like he’s the victim. And not talk about Marie like she’s Lucifer with no evidence at all.
  • Not compatable with Sierra
    Nope
The canned sound effects and narration that sounds like a camp counselor telling a ghost story are too much to bear. Pass pass pass

    Inconsistent
First few episodes were intriguing but then the show took a nose dive and I could not follow along.

    My new fave!
I truly love the way the story telling paints such a picture! Very interesting & compelling. Wish there were more episodes I could binge! ❤️
  • KristinaMariah
    Captivating
As someone who grew up in the evangelical community I can relate to this haphazard diagnosis. There are many good evangelicals but also a handful of egocentric “healers” who are not at all schooled in the correct way to do anything as intense as an exorcism. I’m not catholic but exorcisms belong in the hands of a priest who knows exactly what they’re doing. This story is told very well and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
  • Uecktribe
    Dramatization not true crime
Long winded speculation and finger pointing at religion.

    Love this podcast!!!
I freaking love this podcast and the host!! Great content ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • BoltsAndPackFan
Not true crime, just irresponsible fiction
If I could give this podcast zero stars I would, as it misrepresents itself as true crime while being a work of fiction utilizing harmful tropes. For example, in Season 1: While the narrator initially presents some facts and interviews locals, he then goes on, without any evidence whatsoever, to speculate that it was a local Jewish kid who introduced Tommy to satanism, and this leads to a series of other speculations without evidence that culminates in the narrator actually saying the Jersey devil flew out of Tommy’s neck wound after the Jersey devil forced Tommy to kill himself. The narrator also calls a teacher “mischievous” and “too progressive for his own good” simply for giving an assignment to students to write a paper on a religion other than Catholicism. Ultimately, this podcast is a campfire ghost story presented as fact instead of the misinformation that it really is, and to tell the story, the narrator uses gross antisemitic, antiknowledge tropes. This is all done without real consideration of the evidence pointing to potentially developing mental illness that may have been exacerbated by the pressures put on a 14-year old made to participate in religious activities seven days a week on top of being a star student and star athlete. This podcast is a tabloid and isn’t worth a listen.

Fun Story - But It Ain’t True Crime
This story is great - sensational events, religious and occult overtones, and a timecapsule from northeastern US history during the 80s - but it’s just so heavily overlaid with assumptions, fictionalized internal dialogue, and unsubstantiated occult and religious theory it drifts well into the horror genre a la a deeply dramatized “based on a true story” Hollywood take. It’s also rife with typical paranoia about kids who listen to metal, “outcasts”, and, yes, at one point the corrupting influence (a teenager named Lance) is even described as “possibly Jewish.” Wow. Is there ever a discussion of schizophrenia or other early onset mental illness that might cause this sort of change? Nope. Just pressure from church and wrestling and, of course, demons. Look, I get it, the world is weird and there are bad people out there. But continuing to blame social ills and issues on “Satanists” and grimoires from 19th century occult tourists has been stale since the original Satanic Panic of the 80s. I made it through season 1 and I’ll be looking into season 2. Hoping it stays a little more on the rails.

    Excellent podcast
Love the stories and the narration is very good. Look forward to more seasons!! Todd / Cohost Middle Aged And Creeped Out podcast

Begs the question What If …..?
It’s been says that the greatest lie ever told was Satan, convincing mankind he never existed. Scientific “experts” and even the Religious community all think THEIR story is the truth. What if they're wrong? Pretty compelling story… well done.
  • FrankWatasha
    Facts or Assumptions?
This show is just a bunch of speculation don’t waste your time.
  • Kadence404
    Rampant speculation and sensationalist
This show is everything wrong with true crime. There is no journalism here, just rampant speculation. There’s plenty of true crime podcasts that manage to tell their stories well without this. Save yourself the time and pass on this podcast.
