Interesting stories of history but need to leave out your modern day views of politics. They seem flawed and misinformed.

Came across this show during a crossover episode of another podcast and was hooked right away! Love the detailed and interesting take on historical events.

I stumbled into this podcast and was a bit thrown off by the title…. But started the series about 1941 German invasion of the Soviet Union and listened to all 5 episodes in one day! This went into such detail,, I had never heard before even though I knew the over arching story. I’ll be back for more. Great job with this presentation

Info was generic but some of the most important parts regarding Khalid was missed. Especially regarding his acceptance of Islam and how he got his title sword of Allah.

Great stories, great storytelling. Elliot does such a wonderful job bringing often difficult material to life. His curiosity is contagious and wonderful.

He tells well-researched and deeply human stories that bring the historical figures and the people around them to life in an authentic way. His narration is both objective and culturally sensitive. I appreciate that I don’t detect some of the intellectual pitfalls of many Western historians describing other cultures, especially Muslims. Very entertaining and informative. Definitely a treasure for the intellectually curious who love the human saga.

The host delves into historical that are not too common. I mean, who knew that Hungary was a great power that was laid low by one battle. Exciting to hear about it. Can’t wait for part 2! His voice is great. Great show!

Enjoyable and easy to listen to podcast about lesser know historical figures. Eliot’s research is in depth and he offers opposing views of the same incident.

I love learning history, but usually the stories are told in such a boring way. Not that way here! The host keeps it entertaining and really paints the picture for you. The stories are super interesting and some serious research and effort goes into creating this. Well done!

Such a colorful cast of unique and fascinating characters throughout history. Narrator has a very pleasant voice & stories are fresh & interesting. Blackbeard episode is my favorite so far, but have many more to dive into!

I’ve only ever heard about Skanderbeg from “crazy” uncles that would bring him up at family gatherings. It was interesting hearing about the history from a more unbiased third party teller.
