I find listening to this podcast one of the highlights of my life; like a child sitting at his Grandfather’s knee, wide eyed listening to tales of far off lands and adventures! I absolutely love listening to the tales of history, accompanied by the brilliant, contemporary, commentary of these knowledgeable gentleman! Well done! Tuned in to learn about the French Revolution and instead got 45 minutes of bootlicking. The British view of revolution is apparently that people are just dirty and violent, and the poor monarchists were just misunderstood. Hilarious. Good to know the Brits never change!

I love history. But I don’t listen to explicit content; you can’t really when you work at a school. And this podcast has too many episodes that are explicit that I can’t really enjoy it all.

I can’t take it anymore. An obsessed Christian who is not a historian and a pompous plagiarist passing off their infomercial as a history podcast. Lots of weird giggling while promoting their merch. The actual history is secondary. Try History Hit podcasts instead.

the horrid histoical apologia is finally way too much for me. done. the rant about how there's "zero evidence" nelson was a racist is so insane it genuinely borders on mental illness. if you live(d) in a period with slavery existing and do nothing about it you are racist. omission is action, period. nelson did nothing whatsoever to change a RACIST system and thus was a racist, period. if you still can't grasp it imagine you wake up and walk by your white neighbor's house and he has his black slaves working in his yard as happens all across the world you live in. you wave at the black slaves and carry on and say to yourself "im definitely not a racist because i dont even talk about it" that is your interpretation of the world, and this is just one example of white-washed apologist "history" told by smug british boomers

The series overall is excellent, but the episodes on Nelson are sublime. I played some twice just to enjoy them again.

These podcasts are very entertaining and also quite educational. I cannot recommend them more highly!

Having deleted my X account I miss being able to follow your posts. It might be a price I have to pay but I’m hoping not.

Tom is obsessed with christianity explaining how everything works. Dom just wants to assert his "anti-woke" credentials.

Extremely eurocentric white male privilege lens if history. Justifying certain instances of slavery back in the 1400’s as “normal for its time” and “not that much” is crazy. Super biased take - painting England as the savior and excusing any bad behavior instead of sharing unbiased stories.

The hosts have great chemistry. Topics are fascinating and they do great research and prep.

Tom & Dom - you are the best. A great escape from all of today’s trials and tribulations. More stuff on Eboracum - and any tales of Poddy the famous character from Market Dayton, Shropshire would be appreciated!

Podcast is the perfect combination of informational and entertaining. The show is growing in quality as they continue to dive deeper into subject matters. It no longer feels like a well polished audio version of Wikipedia Just saw them live last night in San Francisco. The show was broken into two halves. The first half was 15-20 mins presentation by each. Unfortunately it was like listening to their worst episodes of the podcast. Neither subject was interesting and each seemed to meander without apparent aim or purpose. The audience was palpably losing interest by the end. There was a half hour intermission followed by pre-vetted Q&A's and it was like a switch was flipped! Dominic and Tom were in their full form. The somewhat stiff earlier presentation was replaced by their usual charm. Each displayed depth of knowledge, thoughtfulness, and of course the effortless hilarious chemistry that makes the show such a delight. Would recommend, but please refine your approach to the lecture presentation going forward!!

I’ve really enjoyed this podcast. Dom And Tom have a gift for briskly summarizing grand historical narratives while simultaneously touching deeply on the human elements that matter. Almost always entertaining. One critique: Their discourse on First Nations in America are impossible to listen to. They are superior and dismissive. Nearly corporate in their cynicism. There was a stark divide between life of reservation and ‘non-reservation Indians.’ Read the books they reference. Mostly brilliant.

Informative, entertaining, amusing and addictive. I listen to a lot of podcasts, but this is at the top of my list. I appreciate the fact that the hosts don't seem to have an agenda and seem balanced in their perspectives. I find them pretty persuasive--e.g., I thought the Wallace/Trump analogy would be a bit of a stretch but left (at least partially) persuaded.

Love the in depth analysis of events

History is just a favorite. And a chuckle here and there is a bonus.

I love this podcast and only wish I’d cared about history as a young’n, because these hosts make me realize how fascinating it is. I look forward to each topic they pick up and discuss. I especially enjoyed the America in ‘68 series.

I just finished listening to the 5 part series on the Aztecs of Mexico. The series was so one-sided favoring the Spanish, it could have been used for as an advertisement for the wonders of enslaving conquered people. The insensitivity toward the native people of Mexico was shocking. No depth or insight regarding the indigenous people of Mexico was ever offered. As a matter of fact, the last episode featured comparisons of Cortez and the Aztec leader as to their character and humanitarian values. Of course the Aztec leaders were seen as ruthless and cruel. Did the writers of this podcast understand that the land of these leaders was being destroyed and the people of that land were being decimated! I understand one of people presenting this racist presentation was a children’s book author. Thus, the next generations of anglo rulers has a new guide book. I just cancelled my subscription to this one.

Tom is a saint and Dom a hero. I’ve listened to every history podcast I can find and nothing compares to these two. They truly make listening fun and when they start selling shirts I’ll be the first buy one.

I never could fully grab onto the storyline, and the series's are so freaking long, each episode an hour long too. It's just not for me I guess!

Cannot recommend this highly enough for people who absolutely love history or have a passing interest

Have enjoyed this podcast immensely, and the level-headed approach. But comparing George Wallace to Donald Trump and the description starting with words about segregation is pathetic and egregious. Seriously, can you please have a dislike for Trump without falsely comparing him to segregationists? Fear mongering, misleading, and inaccurate. Disappointed. Will restore a 5 star when you change the title. I’m not a Trump apologist but this ridiculous rhetoric has to stop if you want to be a respected source.

You can’t change history to fit a narrative you want to mold into you’re current politics. This happens way too much with these hosts. It discredits the whole podcast. Unlistenable.

Learning so much about world history through your brilliant story telling. Also love your side chats and opinions. Well done.

You remember it was the Dems who were slaveowners and fought against equal rights, right? And that liberals are playing identity politics in the 21st century - just like Wallace - and hosting race centric events at the exclusion of other races, and encouraging bracelets to now “identify” if you’re “one of us?” I may not be the biggest Trump fan but comparing him to Wallace is gross negligence and openly denying the elitism occurring today. You also ignore the fact Trump was the first president to appoint an openly gay person to his cabinet, the first president to enter office openly supporting gay marriage, signed a bill permanently restoring HBCU money, and created “Opportunity Zones” to directly support minority owned business. Trump gives you lots of legit reasons to hate him, but do it with the truth, not false historical narratives.

There is a reason this is the best history podcast on the planet. Tom and Dom have great chemistry and their in-depth and passionate storytelling is impossible to turn off. The self-deprecating and sarcasm are keys to my enjoyment.

How can you compare Trump to George Wallace?! 😆

This is probably the single greatest episode I’ve heard. Wallace’s rise and tactics perfectly explain the US election landscape today.

Just google their work outside of the podcast. Dismal. Uninspired. Bigots. Anti-LGBTQ. Transphobic. Disappointing on every level. Hope they are cancelled and I never have to come across a poorly written Daily Mail article ever again. Get over yourselves. Such bias in these history episodes — don’t bother listening.

As much as I enjoy the episodes, it’s incredibly frustrating to be cut off mid series, and made to wait months to a year to hear the ending. Is this done intentionally to bait listeners with a cliffhanger? I don’t believe this is really necessary and just an incredibly annoying tactic. Just finish the series before moving on to the next! I’m debating canceling my paid subscription as I find this so frustrating.

I can’t get enough of the Holland/Sandbrook rapport. I love the stories they share, and I love how they share them. It’s always fun, always informative, and sometimes they do a good accent.

Title says it all. Steeped in knowledge, incredible rapport, soaked in wit… the best history pod around… nay, the best pod around. I love these guys.

Really enjoy the content, including the episode-long tangents. Hosts clearly are good friends and love working with their crew to make quality, informative podcasts. I find myself visualizing along and reacting viscerally to the humor (irony?)and horror that is present in any true historical narrative.

No historical subject is funny bits free. This is the most informative and amusing take on historical subjects - any and every of them - of any podcast out there. A must listen.

Not the first, probably not the last. Definitely an English take on reality.

I’m a long time listener. I particularly love the episodes dedicated to American history. In the their latest series: America in ‘68, Dom and Tom’s telling of Martin Luther Kings assassination had me transfixed. I was nearly brought to tears by the re-telling of the moments leading up to, and immediately following Dr. Kings murder. Thank you for all you do.
