    Favorite podcast in my queue!

    Meh
Would be so much better without Casey who talks too much, cuts off people, and is very annoying making it sound childish.

    The Vergecast but boring
Lame and annoying, from the programming on down.

    Bias + immaturity = Exhausting
There are so many interesting topics and perspectives on this podcast, yet the immaturity and political bias (which is extreme) is exhausting. Have listened to many episodes over the past few months and want to like it, but geez I just can’t do it any longer.

    I love these humans
I love this podcast. Keep on keepin’ on, good buddies. (:

    Fascinating and Informative
By far one of the podcast I listen to. It contains thoughtful and informative discussions exploring the various issues and broader technological trends of the current era.

    Disappointing
I just can’t support padding the truth. I wish I didn’t donate to NYT today after hearing this.

    Eh…
As a programmer and tech dude myself, It sounds more politics than ACUAL ai. It’s ok.

    It’s ok
I found it hard to listen to this as the conversations lacked maturity.

    On point
Someone else submitted the perfect review I need to echo: this show fills a hole where Car Talk once did. I listen every Saturday morning. It’s a delightful romp through the latest tech news, making it accessible and super fun. And it’s appropriately balanced — both skeptical of tech companies, and excited about tech itself. Highly recommend!

    The best of NYT
Sith apologies to Ezra and other brand name peeps, this is the best that NYT audio has to offer! No one ese offers information and analysis with genuine banter better so well. I only wish they talked about an even wider range of topics but that’s a compliment not a complaint.

    AI Shills
Honestly have no use for the individuals as they are just more AI shills, super annoying, and not even technologically savvy. AI is perfect for non-tech idiots because they don’t really have to understand how it works because even Altman doesn’t know how it works. So let’s throw more money at this completely unsustainable technology! Dolts.

    Screeching podcaster
The content of this podcast is good but one of the podcasters (Jordan) has the most annoying voice possible. It’s nails on a chalkboard. Screeching and loud and makes this podcast impossible to listen to.

    Not a serious show
Shenanigans gaslighting as journalism. Would be cool to learn anything about the tech industry.

    The best tech podcast
Everything I need to know about tech I learn on Hard Fork. It doesn’t hurt that the rapport between Casey and Kevin is so hilarious I find myself laughing out loud multiple times an episode.

    One of my top 3
Very tech centric, Silicon Valley centric, so it could be dry and bro-y like a lot of the VC, AI podcasts that a little or a lot self-absorbed. Hard fork is NOT that; yes it is nerdy but the storytelling is fantastic and the banter between the hosts is warm and funny. I love this podcast as it is both informative, timely, well-produced, funny and not self-absorbed

    Far Left Show
I looked forward to listening to this podcast. As opposed to hearing the ever changing and advancement of technology, it was a show of leftist ideas. If you vote blue this is probably a show you could agree with. If you vote red, you won’t like it.

    Love this podcast
I look forward to hearing this podcast every week! Kevin and Casey’s intelligence, wit and humor are such a pleasure; they’re not only educating me on the latest in tech, but making me laugh while doing so! Thanks you guys!

Tech with a heavy dose of slant.
“When you hear the phrase classical liberal, it’s code for someone who’s gone Republican” Um, no. It’s not. While I love this podcast for its helpful and humorous insight into the world of tech, the complete bias of the shows hosts and, frankly, the dishonesty is starting to become too much. I am one of those “classical liberals” this show derides (which essentially means we believe in gender and racial equality but not at the exclusion of all other progressive values, as tends to be the case under the new liberal doctrine)…i think this show is going to be missing a lot of the story if it decides every person who doesn’t think exactly as they do on the most fringe of issues has been red pilled.

    Needs a bigger picture
Having listened off and on for a long time I am disappointed that there doesn't seem to be much focus on what looks like a tech oligarchy taking shape in the US. Maybe I am missing those references. The year-end discussion about Threads vs X barely mentions Bluesky, where people are trying to move away from a lot of the musk-zuck decisions that have been so destructive to democracy. Where will that kind of discussion be?
  • Jeffm1961
Entertaining, up to date, and informative, oh my!
I really love Hard Fork! Casey and Kevin have great rapport, keep me laughing (12 days of Hard Fork was classic!) and give a serious read of tech: they have well-reasoned perspectives and are neither fanboys nor neo-luddites. Plus they get a lot of A-list guests from the tech industry. As someone involved in Big Tech and GenAI myself, I think they’re doing a fantastic job covering the latest with an unmatched !combo of fun and information

    really want to like it
the hosts are SO charismatic, and it’s moderately informative, but it’s also quite superficial. when they address controversies, they typically accept the corporate/marketing party line with little to no pushback or follow-up. they are very blasé about most serious issues, and i wish they would use the laughs and charisma to dig deeper with their guests. not the heavy-hitting serious journalism you’d expect from the new york times.
  • AmitPodcast
    Hilarious and informative
Love the podcasters banter. They strike a good balance between liking their subject matter (technology) and being skeptical of their claims. Highly recommend
  • Dauber
    Informative & entertaining
This is the one podcast. I listened to every week without fail. The topics are timely. The hosts are entertaining and have a great rapport, and they get great access given their positions. It’s not too heavy and it’s typically upbeat, which I enjoy in mainstream media. Plus their holiday carol is hilarious.

    The most accessible tech podcast
Kevin and Casey are both thoughtful and insightful journalists on their own — each a leader on the tech beat. Their collaboration for Hard Fork is excellent, making tech news accessible to anyone from tech insiders to people with only a passing curiosity. They book incredible guests, engage in genuine conversation, and ask insightful questions, while maintaining a great energy between them. Sometimes the humor is over the top, especially Casey, but I wouldn’t dial it back at all. With the polish of the NY Times podcast team, it’s one of my can’t-miss weekly podcasts.

Is Amazon’s Drone Delivery Ready for Prime Time??
I believe they (Amazon’s Drones) can be more than ready. If they can prep for a delivery strike presently from their drivers, they may well be ready for anything. I think it’s awesome. But that East Coast drama may be from people concerned with all the wrong things. I Myself, was weary of drones when sighted initially some time ago, but now know they are, and always been harmless, besides, I’m already stalked regardless of them if actually so. (That ‘small-plane’ sized drone IS still sorta creepy though!) … but surely not Amazon.😳😵‍💫🫣😐 - S.jxn - ga

    Losing Interest
I loved this show when it launched, and I still enjoy Kevin and Casey’s banter and chemistry, but I feel the coverage is increasingly too credulous — tech execs come on and hawk their products without really answering hard questions, and hosts are often dismissive of legitimate concerns like AI’s impact on the climate. Also, not for nothing, but NFTs as a top 100 invention of all time? C’mon now!
  • woofwoofwoofwoofwoofwoof
    Less informative lately.
Lately this show feels more and more like an advertising platform for tech companies rather than providing a critical look at them. A lot of Silicon Valley hype and not a lot of measured, level-headed analysis. Disappointing given the early direction of the show.

If Solar Opposites had a podcast
Are you a fan of Solar Opposites on Hulu? This podcast is as if Terry and Korvo were discussing current tech trends. The list of 100 top most iconic technologies only proves the point. Great podcast.
  • RVC-FR
    Highly recommend!
Love the show! The chemistry between them is incredible! I’d pay just for the comedy (KC). Also, when both of you screamed “FIRE!!!” It almost killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
  • BruceSmithFan78
    Great content but…
I loved the Rabbit Hole podcast and like the general format and content here, but Casey’s shrill, “mid-puberty” voice, makes it almost unlistenable. Like I literally cringe every time he speaks. I think he has a normal voice (?) but somewhere in his career he adopted this weird morning radio DJ voice. Casey please just chill and speak in your normal voice and you will have a loyal listener and subscriber!

    best tech podcast
Informative, trusted, funny, and most importantly, useful.

    Too Flip For Me
These guys seem to be more interested in giggling at each other’s snark than creating informative tech journalism.

The comical, screamy voices make an otherwise smart and insightful show sound like a comic strip.
    It’s annoying.

Hot & Sour Soup for the Nerdy Soul
Truly one of the most entertaining podcasts, whether or not you’re a tech nerd. The banter is fun, the opposing views add depth and keep things from being one-sided. App reviews have been incredibly helpful in discovering new tools I need but didn’t find on my own or was too overwhelmed to search for. Bonus points for the best podcast theme of all time. Thanks Casey and Kevin! PS For those who celebrate, Casey Newton does not sound bald.
  • mrdjsk
    Solid, but flawed
Content is timely and interesting. One of the things that bothers me is that the two generally favor a top-down approach to the internet. They get dangerously close to infringing on First Amendment rights when they criticize things like AI slop and conspiracy theories, which is, ironically, a very authoritarian stance. Casey and Kevin need to let individuals be free to express themselves, regardless of whether they like the message.
  • Kinzler89
Great podcast, but Heritage Foundation ad?
I’ve been listening to this podcast for a long time and as a very non-tech / non-internet person I love learning about the world through the hosts’ perspectives. Sadly the last episode I listened to ended with an ad from the Heritage Foundation. It was deeply distasteful. Probably an NYTimes decision, but I would urge the creators to look into this and push back against ad placements like this.
  • Technically curious
    Wacky voices?
Love the content, but the cringy wacky voices make me want to turn away. Just talk normal guys, your audience isn’t composed of elementary school children.
  • nfrsbmschmck
    NYT is repulsive
Casey, when you start a podcast with someone who isn't a political loser who works for a pro-genocide rag shoot mean text

    Hard listening to normies
If you’re going to complain and put down the developers who work hard and are excited for an event that happens one time a year, you should rethink your life choices. Why are you allowed to go and enjoy a music concert but we’re not allowed to go and enjoy a Developer conference. No chapters
  • google maps is the worst
    Really good, but…
This pod is good, but… I think it’s clever and interesting, and also entertaining. My only critique is that the two hosts, and one in particular are very strongly biased in their political views, and their views of the world. But they don’t seem to realize it or have any self-awareness of their own biases. Update: as I was writing this and thinking about it further, I decided to Unfollow the show. This pod has gone from being a tech podcast to being a tech adjacent podcast to being what it is now, which is a strongly biased, political podcast masquerading as a tech pod. the episodes have gotten more strongly political and they are very extreme in their views. Ironically, they often exhibit the same hate and biases that they like to point out and decry in other people.

    5 stars…AGAIN!
9/6/24 (Review #3) I’m still loving Hard Fork, and today's episode on cell phone ban solutions couldn’t have been more timely! We just hosted our teenage nephew, and his phone was glued to his hand the entire weekend. At one point, we even had to text him to announce dinner because he didn’t hear us. We tried to be patient, but his level of disengagement was extreme. After hearing today’s episode, we’re seriously considering a Yondr pouch for next time. Our nephew’s phone addiction was quite the experience and a Yondr pouch could definitely help create more face-to-face interactions. It’s super helpful that Hard Fork came through with the perfect tip at the right time. Thanks gentlemen!

Great content. Eliminate the “sort of’s” and “kind of’s”
Great chemistry. Informative content. The incessant use of filler “sort of” and “kind of” is distracting, annoying, and takes away from the intellectual merit of the conversation. Despite, it’s one of my favorite podcasts…sort of.
  • Pradagtalie
    Love it
I am a black female veteran researcher in the mental health space. I’m applying to grad school this year for my doctorate in psychology. I say all of that to say- I’m not technology pilled but I enjoy your podcast every week. I’ve been listening since 2023. Love your productivity apps suggestions. Love your jokes. You guys make tech news fun. Never stop (digital $5 tip jar )

Love the content but hate both their voices. They sound like radio shock jocks

Casey has made this show unlistenable
I’m finally at the breaking point where I’m unsubscribing from this show. Kevin is a great reporter and I’m sad to not get his takes anymore. But Casey has such little journalistic integrity, and I feel like a crazy person that others don’t immediately point it out. For example, on the latest episode that’s literally about trump and Elon musk’s interview, Casey on principle refused to listen to it. And then rambles on about his personal opinions. You don’t have to agree with it. But as a reporter you can listen to something you don’t like. Or don’t make it the focus of your episode. He’s so stuck in his own ideology it warps everything he reports on. I don’t know how Kevin tolerates it. Or how Casey constantly tries to tear him down with “jokes”. Again I feel like a crazy person that this is allowed to air and that people aren’t immediately recognizing this as horrible journalism.
