Long time listener, first time caller…
This show makes me smile from beginning to end continually, and I recommended to everyone I know! And if some money bags from Los Angeles doesn’t step up to broker a deal with Weezer and fund the production of that jukebox musical idea you guys had, it will be a crime against humanity. I’m mean, seriously, “Blue: A Buddy Holly Musical (featuring the songs of Weezer)” needs to be made so freaking badly! Just sayin.

    The podcast for 2024 a must listen…
Do you like story songs? Do you like to learn about songs from a super funny and insightful team then this podcast must be on your list. You can listen to this podcast and be super cool at parties and with your friends as you talk about your apricot scarf and what Hotel California really means. Amaze your friends and family and have a great time listening to your hosts Dan, Rachel, and Michael entertain you as they talk about the best songs ever. I know I will and looking forward to an amazing 2024 with the Story Song Podcast.

Can you tell me a story?
Don, Michael and Rachel are awesome. I love the diversity of their song choices and the format of the show covers the songs they pick in an insightful and entertaining way. I have a long list of songs tha I hope the cover. Lessons learned, sometimes you find a podcast that you were needing and you didn't even know it.

    Love This Podcast
It is always an entertaining way to pass the time while on the road. There has not been one dud episode to date, and I sometime I forget that the hosts aren’t old friends that I have known for years. Love their chemistry and eclectic song choices I am not sure anything will ever make me laugh as much as the show featuring “I’ve Never Been to Me” by Charlene. Much like the protagonist of the song, I now find myself wandering up to people saying “hey lady - you lady - have you ever heard of the Story Song podcast?” (OK, so it is mostly to my friends, but still . . . Anyone stuck on a car ride with me will end up eventually having to listen to that episode, and will undoubtedly become a fan.)

One of my favorite songs. Glad you mentioned Fascination also. I used to have that 12inch.

The Beautiful Mount Airy Lodge of Music & Culture Podcasts
This is a story about how I fell in love with a podcast. It was a dark and stormy night when on a whim I played Dean Friedman’s “Ariel,” which I had not heard in eons. That led me to a weekend of immersing myself in Friedman. That led him to follow me on Twitter (true story). And somewhere in there I stumbled across The Story Song Podcast. I was not looking for three new best friends, but I found them in Dan, Rachel, and Michael (assuming those are their real names). These guys know their music. They know their history. They know their way around pop culture. I would be completing their sentences for them if they were not already doing it for me. I feel like we grew up together or at least had the same babysitter. I have not laughed so hard in a long time. And I cannot get enough. I went back to the beginning of the reboot in 2019, and I am binging my way to the present. Bonus points for a kickass theme song. And double dog bonus points for what might be the only mention of Mount Airy Lodge in a podcast. This is the Action Park of music podcasts. Look them up in the yellow pages under STORY.

    You slayed the dragon!
Rachel, Dan, Michael - you guys received your knighthood on the Maggie May episode! Grew up with this song. Never would have guessed Rod Stewart was actually singing about Arrested Development!! Loved it!

    This Podcast is awesome
I drive a lot for work and I love to throw on an episode to get through the hours. The commentary is a lot of fun. I have even learned a thing or two. I enjoy the banter and how each person has a unique and interesting personality they bring. This review isn’t the greatest podcast review that’s been done, it’s not the Archie’s of podcast reviews as Dan would say…

    Have to listen... hilarious!!
This is the funniest podcast I have ever listen to…The way that they break down a song and go off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the song is hysterical… I feel like they’re my friends! 🤩🤣

    Love Story Song Podcast
A total five star podcast! I discovered the Story Song Podcast a few months ago when I became obsessed with Shel Silverstein’s “Sylvia’s Mother.” The only Google hits I got were a Dutch documentary and your podcast. I was quickly hooked and streamed every episode as often as possible until I’d listened to every one! I started by only picking songs I’d heard of and artists I liked, but as every episode was laugh out loud funny, informative, and entertaining I went for them all. If it were not for this podcast I would never have any idea what a Baciagaloop was, or that Dolly Parton is a musical genius and an American treasure. I would like to suggest a second Dean Freedman song in addition to “Ariel.” “Company “is such a beautiful song and one of my all time personal favorites. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next episode. Happy New Year from Mitch in Shaker Heights, Ohio!

    A. MAZE. ING.
I just found this podcast and it has rocketed to the top of my favorites! I really enjoy learning the meanings of songs, whether they are accurate or not, and this show dissects lyrics masterfully. SO funny! Keep up the good work!

    Freakin' hilarious (podcast about songs)
I'm kinda proud of my title here! I found this podcast while looking for song history stuff. This has a little of that but mostly it's three friends sitting around talking about great songs with a lot of wit and farce and some sarcasm! I love to laugh, therefore, I love this podcast. It's truly funny while still being informative - perfect combination!

    I love this show!
The StorySong Podcast is one of my “go to” podcasts. I feel like I’m just hanging out with a bunch of my friends when I listen to it (except for the fact that they are far more entertaining than my actual friends)! A great show- not to be missed!

    Nebraska is only MOSTLY flat
Re: Episode 6 On its western edge, Nebraska hits up against the beginnings of the Rocky Mountains. Also, planting at night is a pretty old-school tradition outlined in the Farmer's Almanac which holds that the planting of certain seeds is best governed by the phases of the moon. Also, in some American Indian lore, the hooting of an owl is considered a portent of death. I'm so glad this podcast is back. I love listening to it. Next time you're pulling apart a story from the West or Midwest, I'm happy to help out. - Rachel's (and Michael's (and Dan's)) friend who moved to Colorado

I Got The Music In Me
This podcast is a GD delight. It’s funny, it’s smart and it may just cure all the world’s ills with song. And snark. If you’re not listening to it, you’re wrong.

Waited for years for this podcast to return
I was a listener way back in 2013 before this show took a lengthy hiatus. They do a great job of breaking down the minutia of a story song in a funny way that it’s informative and entertaining. All three hosts are unique and funny in their own way which leads to an interesting mix of takes on any given song. Interestingly, Michael’s love of truly terrible music seems genuine. One of my all time favorite podcasts.
