    Love this good-hearted podcast
Janet Varney just seems like such a generous spirit on all her podcasts. Just heard her on Rabia and Ellyn- wonderful. I love this show as well- so many interesting people and so many great stories and insights.

    Merk Nguyen = Merk Win
Easily the best episode of this show is when fantastically awesome Janet has Merk Nguyen as her guest. 10/10 would listen to again.

So insightful and always full of goodhearted laughs :)
Janet Varney never runs out of inspiring questions for the powerful women (and men in the summer) that help to show what really defines these amazing people and how they feel they came to be where they are today, whether it be emotionally or physically. It is so so amazing to listen to every week and it honestly gives such strength through these people’s stories and I can say that I always feel stronger and more in tune with who I want to be or who I am because of listening. Janet always pulls the best for the podcasts and each story is breathtaking and unique. My favorite podcast. A must subscribe!

    Insufferable host
The host can’t stop talking about herself long enough for the guests to actually speak.

    Listen to This Show
I absolutely love this show. I’ve been taking a lot of long walks recently (it’s one of the few things I feel like it’s safe to do) and this podcast has become my default noise to listen to as I walk. I find myself looking forward to new episodes every week, and every one recently has been simply phenomenal. Thank you so much for making this, and I hope you continue to do so for the foreseeable future! Thank you!

Worth every minute of your time
If you’re anything like me, you’ve missed deep conversations over coffee with a good friend during quarantine. Well, this is what this podcast feels like - getting to drop in on a deep, intelligent, funny, and so sincere conversation amongst friends. I could not recommend this podcast more!

I am SO late to this party but I just discovered this podcast and it’s great! I was only familiar with Janet from her role on You’re the Worst, where she plays a shallow selfish nightmare of a person, and it was kind of a surprise to download an episode of this pod and hear her being curious, empathetic, warm, and intelligent! I love the conversations and I look forward to working through the backlog.

    So relatable!
I can’t believe I’m only listening to this now. I’ve been a fan of Janet Varney for years, but somehow hadn’t heard about her podcast. I’m only 5 episodes in so far, but it’s been amazing. It’s such a special balance of hilarious and poignant. It’s definitely made my high school self feel see.

    My favorite podcast <3
I love this podcast; it is uniquely charming, and Janet Varney is just a treasure. Some episodes are hilarious, some are moving, some are really heavy but impactful, and all are inspiring and uplifting by the end. Hearing so many others reflect on and process their childhoods and teenage years has really helped me with processing my own, and Janet gives some really great advice that sometimes seems uncannily applicable to my own life. It's just very relatable and deeply meaningful. Also anyone who likes this should definitely listen to Spontaneanation with Paul F. Tompkins. Janet Varney is on a lot of episodes of that and she's and amazingly talented improviser

    Love your podcast!
I’ve just started listening to your podcast as a result of hearing you on Andy Richter’s 3 questions show. I didn’t know who you were but I liked that you came off so friendly & positive. I looked you up, to my surprise I remembered you from Burning Love. You were so hilarious, I loved your character. That led me to your show. I’ve been going through some dark times as of late but listening to you has uplifted my spirits and made me laugh a lot. I listen to you at work and my day flies by. Loved your interview w/ Bruce McCullough & Scott Thompson. You are lovely and have lightened my spirits. Keep up the good work & I wish you & your family a very happy 2020. Please consider having Nicole Byer on your show, I think you two would be a blast to listen too!

I *love* this podcast, even when I'm unfamiliar with the guest. One of the great joys of my week is hearing 'heeyyyyyy wonderfuls'. I will be a boy of summer one day, I swear it.

    Best show ever
I love the tactical, honest and real rawness Janet delivers in this podcast. I hit subscribe and definitely can’t wait for the next show!!! For that listener that is ADDICTED to creating their future. For the listener who KNOWS they are destined for greatness but didn’t believe they could actually create art with it.

    I love it, but....
My only criticism is that Janet often talks over her guests. I have a lot of similar mannerisms in normal conversation that i use to demonstrate that im listening, but it doesnt make for a great listening. I still listen because I think the format of the show is phenomenal and she gets to raw and gritty details that isnt just a plug for their next big thing.
  • abigapple
    Like a hang with friends!
It’s such a relief after a long week to listen to women talk. Janet’s laugh can get me through the day, and it’s comforting to hear about the awkward years of women like me amd totally unlike me!
  • SpaceJellyfish
    Funny and comforting!
I came from being a long time listener of Mental illness Happy Hour with Paul Gilmartin, and after hearing her on the most recent episode I finally had to check out her podcast too. Glad I did! Janet is a delight, I love how it feels like she can connect with and find something in common immediately with each of her guests. She's funny and very relatable. Her voice is comforting, as is the theme song of the show. Her laughter is genuine. The best part of the show is the MASH game she plays with each guest. I vaguely remember it from childhood but her version of it (plus the answers the guests give) is amazing. Lovely podcast overall and now a new favorite!

    A great listen
I’m a new listener but I really love this podcast. I came because I’m a big fan from legend of korra and it took some getting used to, to hear the voice talking about non avatar stuff but it’s really awesome to hear the perspective girls had in adolescence and high school. As an early 20s guy who was pretty awkward in high school this is really cool thing to listen about how all these successful, smart and funny people had similar struggles and issues. Making my way through the show from the beginning, looking forward to all future episodes!!

“Little” Janet Varney, beloved goddess of the sketch comedy & improv world, is also a wonderful interviewer & listener - I’ve just been binge-catching up on some old episodes and loving this podcast more than ever.

    Just like a sleepover!
I feel like Janet is a good buddy and she and her guest are on our elbows talking about life and the world at a sleepover. From serious reflections on current events to ridiculous riffs on celebrity crushes, these meandering interviews feel like a conversation with a friend. Each episode ends with a game of MASH - so much nostalgia!

The best podcast for pretty much anything!
Can’t recommend this enough!! Always entertaining, often very touching...love hearing about my native Tucson from time to time. Thanks, Janet, for being so open and bringing amazing content to us all!

    Fantasitc, Insightful, Fun
I love this unique and wonderful podcast, which I have been listening to for years now. Janet Varney is a fantastic conversationalist and interviewer who elicits precious stories about the teenage experience from her exceptional guests. I greatly appreciate Janet’s authentic, caring and humorous personality and her guests' insights. This podcast will make you laugh, be more thoughtful about human beings, and familiarize you with awesome people. I highly recommend it. This podcast is the bomb.

    Great Interviews
Janet is a great interviewer and asks the all the questions that you would want to ask during the conversation.

    You Should Listen to This
This podcast is for everyone! Yes, there is a lot of focus on the experience of teenage girls, but Janet Varney has a great talent for being able to quickly find the things we all have in common and bring them out in an interview. This podcast is also a great way to learn about other artists and creative types. Also, on a more sensory note, JV has a very soothing voice (which makes sense bc she's a voice actor) and probably one of the most contagious laughs I've ever heard. Plus, the M.A.S.H. game at the end of every episode is a trip!

    Love it!
Janet Varney's not just an incredibly talented actress, she's also a great interviewer. Her friendly and open approach makes everyone feel like her best friend and provide the listener with honest, and often endearing, conversations with really interesting women. -@k_d_campbell

This podcast has all the feelings! So much heart and humor!
Janet Varney is the perfect host for a listener that has “all the feelings.” She is empathetic, honest, hilarious, and brings about discussions with her guests that are far more real and inspiring than your average podcast interview. A must listen!

I thought I was going to hear a podcast only full of jokes and laughter but I LOVE the conversations! This podcast is full I’ve knowledge and laughs. I am listening to the episode with Kristen Bell....RESPECT!

    Lovely.
Guests are fantastic. Janet is earnest and such a talented interviewer and actor. I would love to hear more of what the guests have to say as Janet seems to talk over a bit too much. Sometimes it is hard to listen when 2 are speaking at once.

Great way to wade through traffic
Janet is such an adept interviewer, you get a lot more out of her guests than you’ll find in a regular podcast. Plus, her playing M.A.S.H. With the guest is the greatest. The absolute greatest.

    Amazing
I love this podcast so much already, I love Janet's voice and attitude, and I love her interviewing style. Howeever, this most recent episode with Eliza Skinner kicked my love of Janet Varney into the next level, amazing and insightful, I woud give this podcast a hundred stars.

    She’s a Natural
The JV Club breaks up the sausage party that is the podcast interview format show genre. Janet is never boring, always asks great questions. And she possesses the talent of a great interviewer, she makes the guest interesting , even if you don’t know who they are. Oh! And the show is hilarious!

    A Must Listen Every Week
Simply put, the JV Club is a hug in podcast form. Every week Janet Varney interviews amazing women(and works in some guys during the approriately named Boys of Summer series) about their high school years... though perhaps interviews isn't the right word. You feel as though you're sitting right there on the couch next to Janet and her guests, listening to a conversation and waiting with baited breath for the results of every MASH game. This is appointment listening for me every Thursday, and it's hard not to walk away from every episode with both a smile on your face and a fresh perspective you never had before. I cannot recommend this show highly enough.
  • Rrrrrx
    Entertaining
Ok, the only reason I started listening was because JV was the voice of Korra. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It is entertaining and genuine. I can relate to so many things that are discussed. It is really enjoyable.
