How Did This Get Made?

20,903
Comedy #27All Genres #186

The award-winning comedy podcast that celebrates bad movies. Comedians and actors Paul Scheer (The League), June Diane Raphael (Grace and Frankie), and Jason Mantzoukas (Big Mouth) break down the very best of the worst films ever made—we’re talkin’ blockbuster flops, cheesy 80s action movies, Lifetime thrillers, obscure cult classics, and if we’re honest… most Nic Cage and Jason Statham movies. Plus, sometimes they’re even joined by hilarious guests like Seth Rogen, Conan O’Brien, Amy Schumer, Nicole Byer, Nick Kroll, and Charlize Theron. And the best part? They watch these bad movies so you don’t have to!

New episodes every Friday. Classic episodes re-released every Monday.

Hilarious and entertaining. These 3 never disappoint.

    I don’t like June
She says some really off things and then we’re supposed to think she’s a feminist. I don’t think she’d have a podcast anyone wanted to listen to without her husband, whose work I always enjoy. Jason makes me laugh and is so high energy that it inspires me. But if I want to know what it’s like to listen to a diversity hire I listen to June.

    Best Podcast Ever!
I love this podcast! It always has me laughing to the point of tears. I found this podcast at a time in my life where I needed to laugh more and boy does this show help…I absolutely adore Jason, Paul and June. All of them so funny, smart and quick witted. The topics and conversations are alway so entertaining and you never know where they are going to end up. Love you guys keep doing what your doing!

    The Best!
Paul, June, and Jason and guests come together for a hilariously entertaining review of ‘bad movies’. The best free entertainment ever unleashed!

Please, for the love of god…
Take turns talking. 3 half-baked jokes at once all on top of each other is just so hard to listen to.

    Paul is too annoying
June and Jason, great. But Paul is so in the way. And the way he reads the ads is the absolute worst part. He is funny, well adjusted, but seems super bossy

    Thumbs up
Started with Howard the duck. I have tried to watch this movie before gave up thinking I was missing vital information but after listening to this podcast realized it’s not going make sense and just enjoy the movie.

    Congratulations Paul!!!
Congrats are clearly in order for Paul, a newly minted New York Times bestseller. When you finish reading his book, pick up a copy of mine, The not so wild adventures by Johnathan Freeman on Amazon. You’re gonna love it!!!

    Fun & Informative
The hosts know film (they’re all actors, as well.) They’re also hilarious! Great way to discover some wacky bad films to check out. Start with the “Samurai Cop” & “Bats” episodes.

    Love the show!
Love and miss The League! Please please please review the movie “Teeth.” It’s kind of old but I really need to hear what Jason, especially, has to say about it. Update: still love ya but pleeeeaaaase stop doing lives. I hate live shows. And yes, in my world, everything revolves around me.

    June, John, and Jason!
Folks give bad movies a lot of flack. June, Paul, and Jason appreciate ‘em if they’re whack. They think, “Top That? I can. That’s facts. But I don’t give a **** about trynna top that! Rotten tomatoes say ‘Splat!’ They must be on crack, cause this movie really smacks even if it never tracks, I’ll watch it snacks!” Beat this pod? Stop that. You’ll never top that!

    Check out the older episodes
This podcast has been a hilarious ride for years, but seem to be running out of content. More recent episodes covered movies that are not commonly viewed. My major problem with the podcast is the screechy yelling. It’s impossible to listen to this without turning the volume up and down repeatedly. Pretty irritating and limits when I am able to listen.

    release all eps!
The title says it all . . . five stars.

Sleepwalkers - but long time listener
So I’m writing for June specifically- to put her at ease. I dont think they are actually blood related mother and son- in the intro credits when they’re “explaining” the history of the sleepwalkers- they show a cat morphed/ hybrid- breast feeding a baby. I’m Guessing maybe that’s how they make new “sleepwalkers”, they steal a newborn and then feed them via their milk? Kinda like Paul’s theory - it’s his non paternal mother ?

    "Are we to believe...?"
I enjoy this podcast thoroughly, even when I have not seen (nor, frankly, will ever see, cuz they sound unwatchable(!)) some of these films. I love the way things are discussed in detail. I love the references. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ to Paul's readings of the reviews, kudos to June and Jason, and Tall John, in general❤️

    Hit or miss
Show is losing its spark. The last 5or 6 shows have been pretty boring and not particularly funny.
  • Mojopie19
Have you ever done osmosis jones?
Have you ever seen or reviewed Osmosis Jones with Bill Murray? This is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

    Otherwise perfect
Within 6 minutes and 30 seconds there were TWO different theme songs on the minisode. I stopped listening after that.

    Host supports genocide
I’m a longtime fan who just found out about Paul’s support of genocide so I will no longer be listening

Love June Paul and Jason with all my heart
The OG funny movie review podcast. Now I have a deep love of bad movies, after listening for so many years, and I hope to continue growing up with HDTGM

    Screeching and Disrepectful
The two male hosts of this show are hooping and hollering like baboons trying to screech and out shout the other. They don’t pause or even care what the other one is saying- so tell me why should I? The lady host was trying so hard to have a meaningful conversation but kept getting drowned out by those two foghorns.
  • tdcm93
    Used to be 5 stars
Now they’ve re-edited and censored jokes for the rereleases episodes it’s lost its charm

    More June💗💗💗
I know putting June through more of this might be bad for her mental health but I’d like more of her!!!
  • Ashymjay
    One of the best
Ignore the haters. This podcast is great. The hosts are great. The live shows are great- Whoever the guest is. Sounds like some of these guys don’t like when a woman has an opinion on things. Well. Deal with it. Very funny movies, maybe hard to watch at times, always a good conversation regardless, whether I’ve watched the flick or not. Love these three! Marry me Jason.
  • Awkwardly Social Podcast
Still one of my favorite podcasts
I need to catch a live show!
  • JonnieC82
It’s somehow better if you actually love the movie they’re “deconstructing”
This might be my all time favorite podcast. The banter and chemistry between the hosts is fantastic. As is the subject matter. I burn through episodes too fast unfortunately and that brings me to my one gripe. With Stitcher now out of commission, where can I find the full back catalog? There’s a ton of episodes here for the uninitiated but for someone who burns through about an episode a day, I’m out of gas so to speak. Anywho, great show. Give it a listen. I suggest starting with the Face/Off episode. Jason’s manic energy really shines and everyone is clearly having a ball with one of the best bad movies (or just great in my opinion) ever made.

    Listener since the beginning
I’ve been listening to this show for years. I think since it started. I have consistently enjoyed it. I have seen their live shows. This show has been a consistent and unwavering joy in my life for at least the last 8 years. :) Thanks for making it! I am an enduring fan.

Enough with Live Podcasts and that’s not all
Ive been a fan for a long time and the live shows are terrible to listen to obviously they are done to make money, releasing them as live shows says you don’t care about the podcast listener at all. Being ‘comedy’ mean to listeners isn’t funny or cool. And the cable movies are not fun. Bring back the old HDTGM
  • KeyWestVippy
Late to the party but now a daily die-hard
When I started listening to HDTGM several years ago, it had already been on for almost a decade! I subscribed to Stitcher Premium just for this show (RIP Stitcher) and still re-listen to an episode every night like a lullaby before I sleep. Paul, June, and Jason are hilarious, smart, and kind, and listening each week is like hanging out with friends. Top pics: Mannequin 2, The Secret, Adore, Prom Night 2, and Reindeer Games. But there are so many other hits!

A podcast I look forward to every week
I am the friend that is always up for talking about podcasts. I listen to a lot of them and as such my library of podcasts has grown considerably. There are a number of podcasts that I listen to that I just let build up in my queue because the episodes are hit or miss and I often end up skipping some. This podcast is always a hit and I have gone back at this point and listened to every episode. The cast is great and I almost always enjoy the guest they bring in. They have such a great dynamic and never fail to make me laugh. Rarely do I actually watch the movies they are discussing but I don’t think that takes away from the show. That’s how great it is. I highly recommend this podcast. Also, just had the pleasure of reading through some of the other reviews. Please do a second opinion of your own podcast.

    Too Political
I have listened for years and enjoyed this show then lately such as 52 min into January 8 episode they go into a political criticism of JK Rowling and destroyed the fun of the show. I come to this show for the movie fun, not for hateful opinions about JK Rowling and other woke political statements. Took all the fun out of the show.
